Ive always done ponchos (so cumbersome) or umbrellas, but just purchased a Columbia Switchback "waterproof" rain jacket for our Girl Scout camp this summer. We aren't scared of rain at wdw and will commando it. I'm wondering if anyone has this jacket and how it withstood at WDW. Also, what's your favorite rain jacket for yourself or your kiddos?

I have marmot and REI and love both. They have withstood Oregon/Washington weather and Florida weather.

I have an ultralight stretchy breathable one from cabela's. I got it for hiking but it's been awesome at wdw as well. It's from their higher end line, but it's not gore-tex.

For me, it's not so much which jacket (as backpackers, my family has a collection) as how to best juggle the jacket. Are you going to take it off inside rides/experiences and then put it back on again? If so, does it go back on easily and how are you going to hold the jacket so the dry inside stays dry while the outside is still dripping wet? What are you doing for your bottom layer upon which the rain drops from your jacket will land? If it's warm, we usually just get wet in quick-dry outfits. If it's cold, we probably have rain pants/kilt also or use ponchos which we seem to be able to get on and off easier. The vast majority of non-plastic rain gear does eventually wet-out if it's raining hard/long enough. It's all about what works best for you based on how you use your gear.
