VEGAS!

I just put this on the budget board to find some cheap places, but I figure I'll put it here too.

For my 30th b-day (next August) I want to go to Vegas. I've never been, and its been about 10 years since DH has been, so we are totally clueless.

Give me your thoughts, and experiences on staying in Vegas. Where did you stay? What fun things did you do? I just looked up some hotels like the New York New York and the Paris one, and for 3 nights, it was somewhere between $300-$400 which isn't bad. The most expencive part is going to be flying in from NJ I think.

So anyway, share your experiences! The good, the bad, and the ugly!!

Thanks

You can also check out my trip report (link in my siggie). Its from a week long trip I took to Vegas in June.

We've been to Vegas many times and have stayed at probably 6 or 7 different places.

If money is no object, or if you can get a great rate, stay at Bellagio, hands down. It is gorgeous, and if you can get a room overlooking the fountains, even better!

Probably our favorite place to stay that is more reasonable is Paris. It has an excellent location, in the middle of the strip, has some great restaurants, and the rooms are really nice. Many times they will upgrade you for free to a "P" room if you ask nicely. A P room is a corner room which is larger and has floor to ceiling windows, often overlooking the strip.

The restaurants, including the buffet, there are wonderful! The Italian one in particular is reasonably priced and good food. The buffet is excellent for breakfast or dinner.

If you really like swimming, Mandalay Bay has a mini water park and "beach" area, definitely the best swimming in Vegas. We've also stayed at Caesar's Palace (very nice), MGM Grand (just ok), The Mirage (also not bad) the Flamingo (totally depends on which room they give you), Excalibur (NEVER again--dirty and WAY too many kids), New York New York (also a LOT of kids running around) and Circus Circus (cold day in Hades before I ever stay there again!).

My best advice is to not stay anywhere north of the Venetian. The Venetian itself is nice, but a little far north from everything else if you plan on walking around to see the rest of the hotels.

We've also eaten at many, many restaurants, so if you want more info, please PM me and I will be happy to help.

My best advice is to bring the most comfortable shoes you own because you will walk more than you ever did at WDW! These hotels are incredibly large and although they look close together, it is an illusion. Trust me on this one!

Hope you have a great trip!:)
