OK, play along. Which DVC resort do you stay in under each scenario:? Answer even if the scenario doesn't pertain to you (give a hypothetical answer!):

1) quick weekend trip with that "special someone" - Boardwalk Villas

2) quick weekend trip with good friends - Boardwalk Villas

3) family reunion week (multiple generations) hmm...maybe OKW GV...but then again there is always the Grand Villas at Boardwalk.

4) week with the spouse and young kids - Boardwalk Villas

5) week with the spouse and teen kids - Boardwalk Villas, maybe Beach Club.

6) week alone.......just you.........free to spend it as you wish - Boardwalk Villas

7) golden ticket --- you get to stay forever and ever.........and ever Boardwalk Villas

I'm not trying to be sarcastic, I really really like Boardwalk Villas.

1) quick weekend trip with that "special someone": Either SSR (because of DTD restaurants) or one of the Epcot resorts

2) quick weekend trip with good friends: Same --- SSR or one of the Epcot resorts

3) family reunion week (multiple generations): I'll go with BLT here, since it is always best to cater to the people on the extremes in age. At least in my family, the youngest and oldest tend to like Magic Kingdom, and of course the monorail access makes it appealing location-wise.

4) week with the spouse and young kids: BLT

5) week with the spouse and teen kids: Boardwalk

6) week alone.......just you.........free to spend it as you wish: Boardwalk

7) golden ticket --- you get to stay forever and ever.........and ever: Boardwalk

I have tried to gear my answers to what I think would be the most suitable/preferential resort for each scenario but can't get away from the fact that I love VWL

Aulani! I'm hoping it is at least a 3-day weekend, please? (We work 9/80 schedules ... so every other weekend is generally a 3 day weekend. This month of November is exceptional, however, as we'll have every Friday off: this weekend is 9/80 "off-Friday", next is Veteran's day holiday, following is 9/80 "off-Friday", then Thanksgiving.)

2) quick weekend trip with good friends
Grand Californian -- trying to keep this an easy drive.

3) family reunion week (multiple generations)
If we could afford to fly everyone in ... it would be Saratoga Springs in the Treehouse Villas. That would be "most like" the large family gatherings we do here in SoCal ... but I can tell you now, there would be plenty of talk of missing our normal retreat location.

4) week with the spouse and young kids
Beach Club for access to Epcot and the pool.

5) week with the spouse and teen kids
Wilderness Lodge for access to water activities on the lagoon.

6) week alone.......just you.........free to spend it as you wish
Aulani ... but I'd rather be at my weekend home playing with my horses.

7) golden ticket --- you get to stay forever and ever.........and ever
Oh, yikes! How dreadful. Well ... if I had to be prisoned at a DVC resort forever, it better be the Grand Californian so I can commute to work and home ...but I'd be hating that commute. I wonder if there are great places to board horses somewhere near DLR?

[ I wonder if there are great places to board horses somewhere near DLR?
Yes, there are some stables along the 57 freeway and some along the 91 not too far away. I am thinking there are still some not far off the I-5 near Irvine/Lake Forrest/El Toro, but it has been years since I have been there.

I really like BWV for many reasons. I also like Kidani...but I don't think I could stay there forever. SSR is very serene, so I think I would want to stay there for a lot of R & R. And if it was forever, I'd have a car, so no problem with transit!

Note that we still haven't stayed at VWL, OKW and BCV. Some day we will!
