Your best & worst of online Christmas shopping

Worst: JC Penney. Placed order 12/7 and they have no idea where it is. We had Christmas yesterday and I had to find another gift for my Dad.

Worst- Office Depot. I was trying to order the Kindle Fires on Thanksgiving and never could figure out what the error was that needed to be resolved to place the order.

Best- everyone else! Amazon, Target, Pottery Barn Kids (got an awesome personalized Santa sack that is HUGE and came super quick!), Coach Factory, Lego, Kohls, etc....

Worst-Shutterfly (which I generally love) for delivering my Christmas cards ordered on 12/8 last night at 6PM.

Best--PB Teen (new favorite store for my dd)

Wow, I'm surprised at Shutterfly. They are usually awesome & I ordered several calendars & photo books from them and they arrived fairly quickly.

I don't blame you for feeling like you do. You shouldn't have to allow that much time to get cards sent.

I did mine extremely last minute (yesterday) at CVS.com with local in store pick up. I ordered around 1:45pm and they emailed me by 3pm that they were ready for pick up. If I'm lucky they'll arrive on Christmas Eve but most likely it will be Thurs. Oh well. As I always say, next year I'll do better. :rotfl:

Best-Amazon. Always had our stuff within 2 days!

Worst-Walmart's one hour promo from black friday. Its now the date they promised everything by, and we are still waiting.

Another was Swiss Colony. Ordered back in November to have stuff delivered by 12/16. It was lost in the mail, they sent a replacement, but they transcribed the address wrong (had it sent to my mom) and post office sent it back undeliverable yesterday. So we reordered today (customer service isn't open) and paid an extra $25 for express shipping.

I don't buy a lot online, mostly from Amazon and Disney Store, but had multiple orders at each and all was shipped promptly, arrived on schedule and the orders were accurate. I did order from a couple of specialty shops and those items also arrived on schedule and in good order.

My shout-out goes to Zazzle.com. I ordered a Disney birthday shirt to wear at Disney World on my birthday. I ordered a ladies cut long-sleeved tee, and since ladies cut shirts often run small, I ordered up a size. When it arrived, it was huge and I was disappointed. The packing slip said they had a satisfaction guarantee, so I checked the website to see how to go about sending it back. It said if I paid to send it back, they'd send me new shirt. I filled out the form and received an email back from the CS department asking how I wanted to rectify the problem and I said I'd send back the shirt and would like a new one in a size smaller. The next email I received said they were shipping me a new shirt for free and I didn't even have to return the first one, that I was free to dispose of it or donate it. Great customer service!

ETA: I will add that my best friend ordered a cast-iron skillet and a cookie jar from Kohls and when she opened the box, the skillet was on top of the cookie jar, which was broken into many pieces. She was furious. The cookie jar was not even in a box, was just wrapped in bubble wrap and was under the box with the heavy skillet on top. So I guess that's the worst shipping I've heard of this year.

How long did they say it would take when you ordered?

I ordered a cushion from JC Penney. It is 2" shorter in two directions than it says on the site. :(

Not really a gift but I ordered something from Soma it said would be 10-14 days on a Friday afternoon and received it on Monday.

Best: Amazon (especially with Prime!) and 6pm.com (great price, fast shipping). Oh, and Clinique. Great freebies and bonuses and fast, free shipping.

Worst: Definitely Kohls. Multiple orders and all but one arrived after the expected receive date. Including the last one that I am sure I won't have by Christmas Eve as guaranteed. Thankfully only a couple gifts in that one.

Younkers was also weird. Placed one order of 5 items. Each came separately - some from them directly and some from affiliate sellers. Decent shipping speed though.

Shout out to SierraTradingPost.com Got great discounts emailed to me. I don't have young children. Ordered lots of Carhartt at great prices.

I had a good experience with DisneyShopping.com

I am very careful because of a bad experience last year with SamsClub.com canceling my order the week before Christmas that was my sons big Christmas gift.

My worst was with Moosejaw. Never use them!!
I ordered a Northface jacket on their Cyber Monday sale..you were to get 50% in reward points so that would have been $100 worth of product..and using Ebates i was to get $19 back.
I received two different shipping dates. Contacted them about the delay and they state it was coming straight from Northface. Then 8 days later got an email my order was cancelled. I don't understand when they speak "GEEK" all over their website how they don't have real time for adding to your cart.
Contacted them and they said the jacket was no longer available (although other stores had it in stock and so did Northface.) So I lost out on any of the sales on the jacket and ordered it from Northface at full price; NF did have fast shipping.

I'm not sure. The first set I ordered on Black Friday were shipped in 2 days. These took 10 days. When I called I was told they had to shut down a facility and had major problems and received a small credit. The lady wasn't very apologetic but conceded that this was an unusually long time to print Christmas cards. I also had ordered two photo books which came quickly.

Just frustrating. Most of my Christmas cards won't arrive until 12/27.

Worst: Amazon. Ordered a small gift and a memory card for our camera on 12/18. We have Prime, projected to receive on 12/21. On 12/19 I got an email saying the shipment was delayed because of "carrier issues." Well, the status online says it was because Amazon sent it to the wrong shipping facility. Since then it has been at the same location in PA with no updates. It is saying it is expected to arrive by 8 pm 12/24. I don't trust it will get here. I could re-order the gift item or pick up a similar item in a store, but I don't want to end up with two.

Almost as bad as Wayfair, which last year took two weeks to deliver my daughter's requested cardboard cut-out of Ron Weasley. It arrived on 12/24 and when I opened the package to wrap it, it was Harry Potter, not Ron.

Sounds like Kohl's really blew it this year. I am also disappointed in them. I'm still waiting on two of my items (for the kids) out of a large order that should have arrived quite a while ago. The worst is, I keep getting notices that my order has been changed, but it doesn't indicate how and I've received several items since I started getting these notices. I cross my fingers that the items arrive tomorrow.

Amazon has been incredible as usual. Sometimes I receive my items less than 24 hours later and always within the promised 2 days. Prime is awesome! Their customer service is excellent too. Over the year we've had a couple things to return and it is always handled easily and at times they credit our account and tell us there is no need to return the item.

best: amazon, sephora, and redapple lipstick.

worst: yes to carrots. they offered a black friday sale that crashed their website. they then sent a promo code that i could not get to work, not to mention my date that i was assigned was dec 12, so they were out of stock of many items.

i had that promo code to llbean and was going to place an order for a gift, but it shows on the website and is not available until jan 4:confused3

i did most of my shopping in stores this year as it was just easier for me to pick up the few things i wanted than navigate many websites and worry about shipping.

I ordered a sleeping bag from Moosejaw and the service was amazing. I had it in less than a week.

Good: Walmart, Amazon, Target, Kohl's (no problems here)

Worst: Gamestop. The black Friday Infinity character issues. Although I did finally get the ones I ordered, it was stressful and I thought I was going to have to buy them elsewhere.

While I had no shipping issues with Amazon, I wasn't very impressed with their sales this year. I hate the "lightning deal" concept. I don't want to stalk my computer to get what I want. Because of that I actually shopped there much less this year than I have in previous years.

Worst: Ulta; ordered at 12:01 a.m. on cyber monday; did not ship for two weeks; multiple complaint calls; finally got a refund

Best: Sephora (arrived before even scheduled to ship)

Best: Sephora and amazon. I pretty much did ALL my shopping on amazon and had zero problems with my two day shipping.

Worst: oldnavy.com I placed order on 12/9 they ship a pair of pants one day, a shirt the next, I call on the 18th even though it's not shipped they are telling me I'm going to get it on the 24th which doesn't work I'm leaving town that day. I ask if I can cancel the order they said they can put a request in but there's no guarantee. Fine. They had sent me a 10% off coupon to use online for the inconvenience but obviously now I have to go to the store I asked for a coupon I could use in the store instead, they say they can't do that (originally I used a 25% off code) which is what really irritated me.

I then go to the store Thursday wait in an insanely long line and the package shows up on Saturday anyway. I get stores are busy this time of year but why can't they communicate via automated emails? If I would have known early on that all of this would go down I would have just canceled and made my purchases in the store.

Next year I'm doing mostly gift cards between all the wrapping and old navy I'm done!
