We are coming to Disney on Jan 28 and are looking for recommendations for a good character breakfast. I have read many posts concerning Chef Mickey's and most were not glowing. We are considering Restaurantosaurus in AK. Any advice would be helpful.

Thanks!

I can't say I have ever had a bad experience at a Character meal. Our first was when they still did the Pooh breakfast at Wilderness Lodge and it holds a special place in my heart! We have all kinds of pictures of me and Eeyore, DH and Tigger, both of us with all of them. We had a late PS and most everyone else was in the parks, so we kind of had the characters to ourselves!

My favorite one, when our DD was with us as well as my parents, was at 1900 Park Fare. That day Mary Poppins and Bert were in the lobby coloring with the kids, and Alice, Pooh and Tigger were making the rounds. DD had worn her Christmas Belle costume, complete with tiara. We had forgotten to bring bobby pins, and the tiara kept falling off of DD's head. Alice came by and was admiring DD's tiara. She asked DD if she could try it on, since Cinderella never would let her. Alice tried on the tiara, which thrilled DD. Then she replaced the tiara on DD's head, and pulled a bobby pin out of her hair (wig) and fastened DD's tiara on her head. It was such a precious moment!

Last year, I took my mom to Garden Grille. We had a blast with Mickey, but especially with Chip and Dale. I just  Chip and Dale! We also had a fantastic server who goofed off with us the whole time. It was great to see my mom let her hair down and goof off! :cool1:

We went to the Princess Storybook Breakfast when it was in its trial phase. This time DD dressed in her Jasmine costume (yes, she has just about every female Disney costume that has been made). Jasmine just made over her, because everyone else always dresses as "the other princesses" princess: , but DD has "good taste". It was so funny! She kept bragging to Snow White and Belle about it. Later in the day DD had taken off the costume, but when we saw Snow White, she asked DD where her Jasmine costume was. These people really are amazing with remembering faces and being able to make kids and their parents feel special! :flower:

I second 1900 Park Fare. In terms of food and character interaction, it's the best breakfast we've done. I wasn't too impressed with Donald's Breakfastorsaurus. The food was okay, but the character interaction wasn't as good as at 1900. At 1900, the characters come around multiple times and spend a lot of time with the kids. We've done Chef Mickey's, but only for dinner. We had good food and character interaction there, but breakfast could be a different story.

1900 Park Fare and Crystal Palace seem to have the largest selection of food, good for a picky eater. CRT is not for a picky eater, our waiter ended up getting ds cereal from Tony's for him to eat.

I think all of the character breakfasts offer good experiences. While you will read a few negatives about any restaurant, people for the most part seem to have a lot of fun with the characters and enjoy the breakfast. I can't think of any character breakfast that gets more negative comments than positive ones.

You mentioned Donald's Breakfastosaurus, and I can definitely comment on that one since our family eats there every trip. If you're looking for Donald, this is the place for you! You'll also see Mickey, Goofy and Pluto. The food is typical WDW breakfast buffet. There's plenty of it, and we've always found the buffet to be well-stocked with fresh items. The theming is fun, especially if you have anyone who's interested in dinosaurs. The setting is an archeological digsite, which appealed to my two sons a lot more than the other character breakfast settings.

I did not care for the food at Donald's Breakfastasaurus. It was bland and cold (we were there early too). The atmosphere is also lacking and the characters seemed rushed.

We loved the breakfast at Crystal Palace. The food selection is great, and the quality couldn't be better. The CP is also a beautiful restaurant and a great place to begin the day. The characters were a blast--Pooh, Tigger, Piglet and Eeyore. Three of them come around to the table, and one, I think Eeyore, stands by the front door and buffet. That's nice so the kids can go talk to him when while they are waiting for the others to make their way around the restaurant. We like making our PS for 8:05 on a non-EMH day. You get into the park before everyone else and you can be done eating right when the park opens. It's great to take pictures in front of the castle when the park is empty.

Far and away, Crystal Palace was our favorite character meal. We saved it for our last day at WDW, and it was definitely a case of best for last. The boys had a ball - Tigger led them in a parade around the resturant after giving them instruments to play.

Second best, at least from a character interaction standpoint was the garden grill at Epcot. We went there very spur of the moment. The resturant was relatively empty, and we had the only small children in the place. The characters were all over the boys. I have great pics of them hugging and high fiving and playing with the kids. We weren't crazy about the food (it was lunch, not breakfast) but we did have a ball.

It's a tie! 1900 Park Fare and Crystal Palace for breakfast. For dinner we'd pick LTT and 1900 Park Fare.

We've only done two character meals...Chef Mickey's and CRT. We really liked the food selection and buffet style at Chef Mickey's but we had the best character interaction and ambience at CRT.

We LOVED our character breakfast at the Crystal Palace. We had an early PS (8:10 a.m.) and were able to walk down a practically empty Main Street on our way to the restaurant.

Our breakfast was very good. We loved the Pooh characters and I was there with two teenagers!!!

It was big fun!

I have done this one twice and loved it both times, the waitresses play jokes on the guests and makes for a fun time.

Hmmm... if your kids are little I say the Crystal Palace breakfast with Pooh & Friends.

If they are a little older - we had a lot of fun at the Restauarantasaurus (sp) at DAK - the waiters were hilarious :D

We also liked CRT, I mean breakfast with Cinderella? come on :cool1:

We stayed at BC one time and although we didn't go to cape may - it looked like they were having fun in there with Chip and Dale.

It's really hard to pick a favorite, but if I had to it'd have to be 1900 Park Faire. We were there for breakfast on my wife's birthday. For some reason, that day Mary Poppins wasn't there, so in her place was Cinderella and Prince Charming. We had failed to get PS's for CRT, which was a big disappointment to Princess DD4, so we were especially pleased to be able to have breakfast with Cindy after all. At the buffet, Prince Charming snuck up on my wife, surprising her, and made some suggestions about what items were especially good, something she comments on frequently so I know it was memorable for her. At the end of our meal I had ordered her a special slipper dessert (another surprise), which was delivered by Prince Charming himself. Fortunately he stopped short of trying it on her foot!

Overall I'd have to say that was our most memorable character breakfast, but I'd also say I never had a bad one. Even when we were off in a corner at Chef Mickey's, I noticed that every time the characters got up to do their dance, at least one of them made sure to come up to our area so we wouldn't feel left out.

I agree with this 100%!!! We had an early PS also and loved strolling down Main St. before the park opened. The food was fresh and very good, lots of choices! The character interaction was great too! :jumping4:

Chef Mickey's--- My DD then two was still scared of the characters, and Minnie Mouse took the time to kneel down and play with her until she finally threw her arms around Minnnie and gave her a big kiss! Minnie gave me a big thumbs up and I almost cried. My DH says the food was great but all I can remember is that hug and kiss. Worth every penny.

CRT---We had breakfast with Cinderella, Snow White, Sleeping Beauty, Belle and Mary Poppins....in a castle no less!!!! princess: Awesome experience and tasty food too. Servers went out of their way to bring vegetarian options even though all we asked for was a plate without the bacon and sausage. Chef came out and made sure DH was pleased with his "specialty" breakfast. DS5 left with five red lipstick kisses on his cheeks...too cute! Plus, we have awesome photos of us on Main Street with no one else in our pictures! too fun!

1900 PF Breakfast: Can we say tasty? Oh my, well hello there Pooh, of course I'll take your picture with my kids...but, oh goodness gracious me, have you tried a cheese blintz? Don't come over here yet Mad Hatter....I'm off to the buffet! :earboy2:

WE LOVE CHEF MICKEYS!!! that is a must everytime we go there.....the atmosphere is fun....the characters make it a point to come over and say hello....its great....hubby and i are going there for breakfast for our little getaway in just a few weeks just cause we like it soo much...

Our only Chef Mickey experience in Jan 2002 was Fantastic! All five of us loved it. The atmosphere that morning was just great in the place. Chef Goofy was clowning around the entrance, great photo op there. Then once we were seated the characters all came around at least once, some twice. Plus the character dance ever so often was nice too. The food was good, lots of it too. We all left there stuffed and ready for a great day in the MK.
