You Know What Ride I Think Needs a Facelift?

Star Tours, IMO, definitely needs an upgrade.

When disneyLOVE, wazowskiLOVER, shyboy, and I went in October, we realized that after we got off the ride, we enjoyed waiting in line more than the actual ride itself!! There's so many things to see in the line while waiting (not to mention that all those props in there are from the ACTUAL movies :goodvibes ), and then you sit down, strap up, and it's kind of... Bland :/.

I hate to say it, because I love Star Wars, and the ride is definitely a classic, but compared to the technology in some of the newer rides (TSMM, for example), there isn't much excitement. Not anymore, at least.

... The least they can do is change that lady's hairstyle in the video that does the briefing before the boarding. We're in the 21st century and I have YET to see anyone with a hairball the size of hers on the side of their head ;)

What do you guys think? Do you think Star Tours needs any improvements to keep things exciting, or is it fine just the way it is in all its nostalgic glory? Any comments/suggestions/concerns?

I was completely entranced when we were waiting in the line when we were going on this ride ! Especially since I was looking for hidden mickeys/ inside info that made the wait so fun !

I have to say though, (I don't know if I told you cousin) that I had BAD motion sickness on that ride. Its just not for me anymore. I would be sooo happy with a face lift of that ride. It would be amazing to see. Me & you man, front row on that one if that happens ;)

You really would think they would do something. It is really shakey and often leaves me with a headache, which is sad because I love star wars.

I can see us now....sitting in Jedi training while the guys are off riding the Matterhorn! LMAO!!!!! :lmao: The more I learn about you the more I think I must meet you!!

Awww!! ME TOO!!! OMG! Kerri! Let’s do it!! Woo! We love Stormtroopers!!!

You said it cousin! :)

Totally agree with you Krissy. The whole ride itself (the flight simulator-esqueness of it all) seems outdated to me.

What's wrong w/ the hairstyle? It's totally galactic! :thumbsup2 Plus, lots of models, especially the ones in America's Next Top Model, have very outlandish hairstyles for their photoshoots.

Although I do like Star Tours, I hardly ever go on it bc no one wants to go on it w/ me. I'd have to say that it is very bumpy and you can hear the vehicle shutter all the time. I'm just always sad that I never end up @ Endor. I need to see my Ewoks! :ewok:

I think we need to ride it together one of these days, Disneylvrforever! I am in the same boat. I like Star Tours a lot - and I haven't been on it in probably 8 years, so I don't know how I would feel about it today - but I never get to go on it because no one wants to ride it with me anymore and I don't necessarily need to ride alone (I could easily do a solo DLR trip, but going on rides, for me, is something better enjoyed with companions)! They all used to ride it but now it just gives them headaches from motion sickness! However, one of them wants to drag me into that boring HISTA again, so I may use Star Tours as my bartering tool!!! Hee hee hee.

Jasmine, I hear a lot of people get motion sickness on Star Tours. I can see how, though. Bleh.

Well, you know when we will be there!!! Come see me!!!!!! LOL :) :thumbsup2

LOL My sentiments exactly Gisele......
And I LOVE your idea!!!!!! Very cool!!!! I think they should do the posters on the way out too, those would be awesome places to visit. :)

FTR, I don't ride this one because I get motion sickness and a headache as well. I think it's because I'm trying to brace myself against the motion sickness so I end up all tense and jerked around. I do like it, I just don't like how I feel when I get off of it so I don't ride it.

When I was at Disneyland this past Sunday, the "fake" information on the big screen you watch while in the first half of the line indicated that new destinations are coming soon (it wasn't the old info that used to say that, but newer info) and the CM who got seated said that 4 new adventures were in the process of being created and would be premiering in, I think, 2010. Granted, it was just a CM saying it and not an actual announcement from Disney, but it certainly seemed to fit with the new text on the screen in line. It's been rumored so long, I'd wager this is real (so long as the budget is already in place for it). A much needed update, I'd say.

Really? That sounds great!
And 2010 is just around the bend, so that's even more exciting :).
Why haven't the head honchos announced anything about this yet? Maybe they might need to push it back due to the economy troubles these days? :confused3

I know !!!

I even noticed getting motion sickness on TSMM. I normally don't, but I guess I'm just getting older haha ;)

Ya, that's what I thought too.....I was sad because I don't wanna get old. :lmao:

Okay!!! Hopefully when you and Jazzy are here at the time!!!! :goodvibes

Lol. :rotfl: Old lady!!!

Oh Good Lord, I HOPE SO TOO!!!! I would so love to see you guys!!! DBF thinks I'm crazy when I meet my online friends, he just doesn't get it. lol He'll be game for it though. :) Those Storm Troopers better look out!!!!! :scared1: :lovestruc :rotfl2:

Let's do it! lol. I know exactly how you feel w/ ppl getting motion sickness from the ride and ruining the fun for us & how we'd would rather ride rides w/ others. It does make the experience more enjoyable, even if you don't talk to them. The only time I ever went solo was when I got mad @ my friends who wanted to wait 7 min. for Pooh. Who in the world does that?!? So I decided to ditch them for a while. ;)
