You HAVE to try this!! EBAY your way to DISNEY Part 2!!!!

My plan was to put these few things on for auction, with min bids that covered my purchase cost if any

Am I understanding right? You put the items up for the amount you paid for them..is that retail? I generally look for bargains..maybe something slightly used, at a much lower than regular price.
In any case, I hope you have lots of beginers luck!

Now might be a tough time to start; I've noticed views/bids/watches are really slow right now. I think people are out enjoying the weather (when it doesn't rain  ) and not sitting at their computers. I may not relist any non-sellers til at least august, when it will pick up again.

Hi,

Just got an email from a customer who bought three different auctions from me. All were fragile items and I packed them very carefully and shipped via UPS cause it was cheaper. She emailed me to tell me three soup bowls were broken. Do you know off hand, how UPS handles their insurance policy for broken items?

Thanks,

Martha

QUICK QUESTION--

I bought 2 auctions of a seller. It has been 30 days and I have not received them. Also, I sent 6 emails and finally got a response to 1 of them today. Essentially the seller said the item was sent they are just too busy to look up a DC# and someday in a few weeks they may have time. Not being mean, but they gave me the whole mother is sick w/ cancer sob story. Not saying it's not true, but everytime someone is 30++ days delinquent w/ something it's always the same story.

The tone of the email essentially was real stand offish and they refused to really commit to anything or actually provide any "real info". Anyhow, they are now no longer a registered user on ebay-- which really ticks me off because I can't leave negative feedback, or anything. Can they just unregister??? I don't think that is very fair, that now no feedback can be left! Any one have any thoughts on this??? TIA!

DMRick, Hi. My costs are way bellow retail. I live by a Disney distribution center and they open up to the public a few days a week. The bargains are spectacular! Are most sellers not purchasing items expressly to sell?
Thanks,
shellie

kilee-

Did you pay by PayPal? If so, you can do an investigation with them. I did it for a 3.00 item I won and was refunded the whole amount. Same situation, never got item, then seller turned out to be NARU.

I think you were way too patient. And by waiting 30 + days you may no longer be able to do anything about it. With paypal I belive you have to file a claim within 30 days. If you did pay by Paypal with your credit card, I would contact them. Might be your best option.

IMO if you do not get your item (within 21 days) and they do not respond to your emails (within no more then 5 days). I would file a Nonperforming Seller.

If the seller is NRU'd there is really no need for feedback. But keep an eye out to see if they become active again within your 90 days, so you can leave feedback.

I paid via money order since the seller didn't take paypal. Anyhow-- I filed a claim w/ ebay and they pretty much told me "sorry we can't do anything about it" since they are no longer registered. I think what gets me is if they will be allowed to reregister later and not have this on their selling record!!!

The 2 items together were only $10.00, it's more the principle of the fact.

I'm sorry..I thought you were just buying at the store and putting them up for store prices. I know I have bought some really inexpensive Disney stuff, at their outlets, and saved it until the appropriate time of year, and bombed LOL. Now I stick to stuff that sells for me..Disney didn't : (

If it's only a one or two month suspension, you can still neg them when they get reactivated. Doesn't get back your money, of course.

Just made $914.03 in 5 days on ebay. Woohoo...we will use 1/2 of it to add to our WDW spending cash fund and the other half to cover the costs for our son's soccer tourney next weekend (hotel, food, etc...

Ebay is the best way to make 'expendabe cash'...

Yikes!!! I was happy with about $40 this week since we were gone nearly all week!

LOL, probably not.

We are a good example that in order to make good money on ebay, you must research what is selling and use your personal knowledge to your best ability.

We sell new and used items for commercial contractors who either are leaving the business or have stock they will not use and cannot warehouse (due to lack of space). We do this part time and it literally pays for all of our 'extra' expenses like remodelling our DDs room, vacations, gifts, etc. We basically earmark our Ebay $ acct for everything that is not in our basic budget of bills, food, gas.

Basically, through word of mouth, my DH gets in contact with contractors who are getting rid of old stock and asks if he can either buy the entire lot outright or sell the items for a 50% profit.

The plus for the contractor is we take everything (even things that will never sell...which is the downside for us). This cleans out their shop and, they don't have to deal with the hassle of listing and shipping (paperwork). They basically make some money on things they would have tossed.

We invoice them every month and pay them 50% of the ending sale $. We end up making aprx 45% after listing, final value and paypal fees.

It is a great thing...but totally hit or miss. Right now we have been working on a lot that we received about 3 months ago. It takes a LONG time to list so many assorted items. There is no guarantee everything will sell. It also depends on who is out there in the position to clean out their stock. And it depends on there being a need for the items we sell. We have had many things go for BIG $ that we thought wouldn't sell...we have also thrown away items that we thought would sell easily, but there just isn't anyone who needs/wants them. Our trick is to start the items at a VERY los price and allow the ebay market to decide the value. The fact that we have no personal attachment makes it easy to do so.

We make NO sale guarantee to our contractors and they know up front they get what they get. We have not had one who had any problem with this because they know they would have just tossed the items anyways.

I cannot stress enough that researching Ebay is the most important thing. My DH has knowledge of these types of items and how much they are worth. He needs that knowledge to be able to sell these items. He needs his contacts to find people interested in selling the items. He needs me to be able to list and ship them.

We all can make great money on Ebay if we learn to focus our energy on a specific corner of the market.

LOL...my post sounds like an infomercial...

Ugh-- I have had an awful ebay week. First I have the not received auction I paid for.
Now I have 1 women from Canada harrassing me getting all snippy because I won't drop my shipping charges to $2.00 (because in her words "it's cheaper to ship out of the USA then within it), and send to her. She is very insistent.
Then I have a buyer who wants to buy 2 of my items off of ebay. She says she's reached her "bidding limit". I've never heard of this, I told her I don't deal off of ebay. I asked about her limit--- she said she didn't understand it. Well, sounds sketchy to me!!
Last, I have a women who paid for her auction on 6/13. She received it on 6/17 and she sent me 4 emails over the weekend complaining about how long it took to get it. Mind you, there was no previous conversatoin or anything about her getting it any earlier than that. As a matter of fact, I sent an invoice she paid-- end of story. I don't think 4 days is that long. Considering she's half the country away from me.

Anyhow, I'm just waiting to see who else complains next.......

Sorry to hear your week was so stinky...it always happens in mutiples...I swear!! Everything goes super smooth and then...BOOM, all sorts of problems and emails...

With the first customer, does your auction have a set shipping rate? If so, I would say: "I am sorry, my shipping rates are clearly marked in my auctions. They are also not negotiable. I will ship your items as soon as I receive payment in full, thanks again for bidding."

2nd customer: "Thanks for the interest in my items, I am sorry, I only sell through Ebay. I really appreciate your email and hope to do business with you in the future"

3rd customer: "I am so sorry your items took longer to receive than you anticipated. I use standard shipping, unless otherwise noted in my auctions. In the future, please email me ahead of time that you require expedited delivery and I can adjust shipping costs to reflect your needs. Thanks again for your business"

Be firm and don't let em see you sweat, LOL ;)

What if somebody is blantantly over charging for shipping and handling...

1 tshirt from Ca UPS ground....if I looked it up on UPS site to ship to my house is $5.95...I live in PA....this person is charging $11.95. $6.00 for handling is outragous. Does Ebay care if people do this???

Well, it is called fee avoidance, but on the other hand, SO many people do it that they would have to hire another 100 people to deal with it . This is especially true in the electronics category. They regularly charge $9.99 for digital camera media that costs $1.00 to ship first class. It's just one of those ebay facts. You can email her to ask if she'll drop the shipping charge, but she probably won't. You can just decide whether the total is worth it to you or not.

Thanks for the info....It's something I'd like but I'm not paying that much extra for a tshirt to be mailed...insane...

I am giving this a try!!! I put up about 10 items today and we shall see how it goes! I have my first bid already, so that is promising. I was wondering, since people bid last minute, is there a reason to have the item on longer than 3 days? I also see the 1 cent gallery etc charge is only for two days, so what is it regularly?
