"You don't shower when you're sick?"

I had surgery last month and was told I could not shower for 2 weeks afterwards. I was horrified by this and the doctors and nurses treated me like I was totally insane for being upset.

I only made it 4 days before I taped a hefty bag over my stomach and showered. I can't even describe what my hair looked like and felt like after 4 days.

My mom is of this school of not showering when sick. Her reasoning is that you would catch a chill and it would either make you sicker.

That's it! I heard this from my great grandmother when growing up, but thankfully, neither my mom nor I paid any attention. I'm a *huge* believer in hot showers and clean linens when sick.

We all shower everyday healthy or sick. I've always bathed my son everyday since he was an infant and now he says he feels gross if he doesn't shower everyday. Even when camping with scouts he is the one kid that takes a shower.

Maybe the side benefit is that she starts to smell so bad that no one else will come near her and catch what she has

I've never heard of not showering while sick. Only thing I can think of is depending on how you feel, a hot shower can make you dizzy & you might pass out & hit your head. Still no excuse though. Just don't take a super steamy shower...or take a bath instead.

When I was 13, I had back surgery and spent 6 MONTHS IN A BODY CAST. Aug - Jan. NO SHOWERS FOR 6 MONTHS.

My mom had to get me up on the kitchen counter & lay me down so she could wash my hair in the kitchen sink. Needless to say, this did not take place often enough. The rest of the body was washed by faceclothe.

To this day, if I don't have a nice hot shower EVERY DAY... I am grossed out.

Personally I enjoy a hot bath or shower when I'm sick.

My mother-in-law doesn't believe in bathing during the winter. She also eats garlic whole like it's going out of style.

When Im sick I take more than normal *baths* actually.... my whole body is aching, and I wanna feel better, hence - baths.... and if Im super sick, like flu sick, Im talking baths like every hour!!!!

Thats gross.... next time you see that kid outside, grab your hose.

LOL i am the same way...when ever i get the flu, i stay in the bathtub. Last time i ran out of hot water so i went outside and sat in the hottub.
