You do know that Kohl's cash is not free, right

It's a shame that they have cut back on stacking. I remember I bought my margarita maker (Margaritaville FCM) for $170. That was half price according to Kohl's. Granted, that was an exaggeration, but it was still $130 off MSRP.

I still love Kohls... as long as you are a smart shopper you can get great deals there- I get the $10's of any $10 spent in the mail ALL the time... and make sure I use them - usually with a 20% or 30% coupon too - and I DONT have a Kohls Charge Card either

Love it!!
Also love how the cashier will say 'oh, you saved a bazillion dollars today!' Like I would really pay what they say the original price for the stuff I buy there?? No way.
Usually I wind up with 1 or 2 Kohl's cash coupons & I just give them to my dd so she actually can say she got something for nothing, lol.

You have nailed my Kohl's pet peeve on the head. I like Kohl's and can get some good prices, but the base price of their items is so far off from reality that the discounts are a joke. I just figure out my bottom line and decide if that is a good price for what i want.

I was always a fan of Kohl's until one was built locally and I visited more than once a year. I can't stand the "everything is on sale all the frickin' time" motto that they seem to have going on. When I look at a price tag, I'd like to know how much it costs without having to check out a sign above the display and figure out my percentage off and then if I have a coupon from the mail... aye aye aye! It's like a math problem! Not a fan. A lot of their stuff is still extremely high priced and I'm not a fan of the free Kohl's cash. All it does is get you back in the store to spend more. I agree with the post above. I only visit when I get that $10 coupon or I order online if there's a fantastic deal where I can figure out my spendings from the comfort of my own home.

Kohls "sale" price is actually the normal price. I priced out a coffee maker for my husband for his birthday. The Kohl's sale price was exactly the same as the Target retail price, and the supermarket retail price. It wasn't a sale at all.

There is no law that says Kohls has to have the same original price as Target. Which is why it is always smart to comparison shop.

I think part of the reason Kohls has higher prices than Target on some stuff has to be because of their liberal return policy. Target is very strict! Kohls will take stuff back that is years old.

Michigan has a similar law as Massachusetts. Everything has to be off of sale at least part of the time. But there is no law against Kohls having higher original prices than other stores.

You just have to be smart and know your prices. I was able to get an item at Kohls "On sale" for Targets regular price. Used a 20% off leaving it cheaper than Target. Plus, I did get the kohls cash for an item that I already got the best price on. This year I felt like the prices were fair. (Depending on what coupon and sale they had. ) Robes for $16 with free ship, slippers for $6-12, blankets for a few dollars, etc. With Kohls cash received on top of that.

It's not all that different from Gymboree Gymbucks... Get "gymbucks" for spending money now (on things that are, IMO, overpriced to begin with), then get to use them a month from now; oh, but they can only cover half the total cost, so you still have to spend more money to actually use them, once again, for relatively expensive stuff.

Apparently, it works for them though, and people keep doing it.

Ditto on the PP who pointed out the whole "you saved $x" line. No, actually, I spent $y, as compared to an imaginary price of $z that I never would have paid anyway.

This reminds me of Justice - a store I can't stand but DD9 loves. When they have their "40% off sale", DD9 gets so excited. "But mom, it's 40% off!" Uh, no it's just a normal price now for the subpar quality.

This is a pet peeve I have with some of the coupon blogs I follow. They will post a great deal on something with Kohl's, but when you read the post more carefully the great deal price deducts the Kohl's cash you will get back so it actually costs more out of pocket than they let on.

:thumbsup2 I had this conversation with a friend who has no kids, but was taking her niece shopping there. Never pay the price on the tag... the store is either all 40% off or there is at least a 40% coupon to use.

Rule #1 for shopping at Kohls: If it isn't 50% off AND you don't have a 30% off coupon (or code), don't buy it. :thumbsup2 It will be on sale for that next week.

I went in today and was quite frustrated, although it all worked out ok in the end.

I made TWO online purchases last week. One was for a bit over $50 and the other transaction was $100. I received $15 KC for every $50 spent.

Today, I returned the entire $50 order (we will call this Order A) but there was one duplicate item (waffle maker) on both orders. I explained that to the cashier and told her to MAKE SURE the return of the waffle iron went to the original $50 order (order A) and NOT to the $100 order (Order B) as I would lose my KC.

Well, she messed up.......I then lost the first $15 KC AND an additional $15 KC.

UGH!

Thankfully, the manager over-rode (is that a word?) the transaction and I was able to use all $30 in KC, but I had to explain it a few times!

Overall, Kohls is just ok.....sometimes they have deals, sometimes not.

This $100 order was the following:

Spend $100 and get $30 KC

T-fal cook set on sale for $66 with a $30 rebate to mail in.
Waffle iron, $19 with a $10 mail in rebate
Stand alone Griddle, $19 with a $10 mail in rebate.

Total paid: $104
KC received: $30
Mail in rebates: $50

Not too bad.

This isn't directed at anyone here, just a little rant.

I have friends IRL that count KC twice.

"I got this item for $20 because I got a rebate AND Kohl's cash!" That is instead of the $55 they paid up front.

Then, when they used their Kohl's cash they say, "And I used my Kohl's cash, so it was really only $2."

You pay for the KC on one end or the other. You can't include the discount twice. :headache:

That is all. Rant over.
hahaha:rotfl: I know people who do this alll the time too....they forget what they actually spent to get that 'cash'......

so.... if you go back and ***spend $30 using ONLY*** KC, (example,a set of bath towels)then take your original total 104.00-the rebates=$54 TOTAL.
Divide that $54 by the number of items purchased (4) and you have the amount you actually paid per item(nice deal BTW)
I believe your rant at the begininng was for the people who count that 2nd shopping as absolutely free....which it isn't....it's just discounted prepaid...:thumbsup2

Kohls regular prices are so jacked up, I hardly ever shop there anymore. I am shopping way more at Pennys now.

I bought 4 t-shirts that were on clearance for my DD the other day. I had one of those $10 promotional coupons that they send in the mail. I spent $6.xx after the $10 was deducted and my receipted said I save $74. Seriously $80 for 4 thin T-shirts, I don't think so.

When I was doing the black Friday deals I had to decide if I could really use that much Kohls cash. I wouldn't have really saved any money if I just spent the Kohls cash on junk. So I told DH that he had to use my Kohls cash to buy his new running shoes, which he was whining he needed. That way I was sure I used all the $$$ on something I needed.

I haven't gotten one of those in a long time!

I just got one last week, got my dd a free sweater.

I love Kohls, and if you know how to shop there you can get some incredible deals.

Most people are bright enough to know that you never buy an item at Kohls at the "regular" price.

You buy when they are 50%, have a 20 - 30% off coupon (which ANYONE can find if they just google for it) and then even better you can earn Kohls cash.

Kohl's is great if you play the system....if you just walk in wanting to buy something without a coupon or discount, you're likley spending way too much money.

:thumbsup2 I agree 100% - I only buy when I can tell it's a great deal. I recently bought a Keurig coffee maker there for $94 on sale, plus a 30% coupon, plus had a small item to make it a little over $100 and $20 in Kohl's cash. I had looked around and definitely got the Keurig much cheaper than anywhere else I looked for it on sale.

Then I used my $20 KC plus a little cash for 2 boxes of K-cups. So, I really only paid about $66 for the coffee maker and got the k-cups cheap.

So that's the way I shop at Kohl's not the type customer that Kohl's would prefer LOL

I stopped shopping at Kohls about 10 years ago. I find their stuff to be way overpriced and not good quality at all.

Additionally, the store always seems abandoned: You can never find a salesperson to help. If, on the off chance, you DO find someone, they tell you it's not their department but they'll get someone to come help. They disappear and you never see anyone again.

Checkout is a whole different nightmare.... The Kohls I used to shop at could have a loooong line of people and only ONE cashier open. No one else in sight.

I hate that store!

Yup, and you notice I did NOT do that!

I just think I did get some decent deals.

My T-fal still has not arrived though.

Dawn
