Okay, I found this humorous, in a bad, bad way ;)

When I called to make my ADRs, my son (19 months) was extremely crabby. In fact, it seems it is his MISSION in life to scream and cry everytime I get on the phone with Disney!

So I'm walking around, talking on the phone to the CM, trying to shake my toddler off of my leg so I can get away from him (as he's screaming bloody murder and I can barely hear the CM- letalone HER hearing me!) and I end up going into my bedroom and closing the door- just so I can finish my business.

He is now at the doorway, screaming at the door (he is typically a lovely child- but everytime I need to call about our upcoming vacation, a little demonchild comes out in him!).

The CM on the phone actually said to me, "I love children- you can't live with them and you can't kill them!" :scared1:

:lmao:

I had to laugh! This was coming from a DISNEY rep! It just really made me laugh- makes you know you're talking to a real person on the other line when they respond like that! (She was a Mom to three or four, so she totally understood what I was going through!)

Gotta love fellow Moms.

I work with High School kids who are in Life Skills. Some of those kids, you just have to thank God that they aren't yours. When you ask a question, one girl will say, "Oh, I know the answer." So you go, "ok what is the answer." She won't have a clue at all, she'll just sit there with a deer in the headlights look on her face.

I completely know where you're coming from. My DS 17mo does the exact same thing every time I answer the phone!
I do the same as you, I have to close the door in order to end the call, can't hear anything but his screams otherwise. Of course it doesn't help that he insists on screaming while yanking on my leg. Wouldn't be as bad if he was across the room or something, but when he's right under me I can't hear a word the other person on the line is saying. He does it almost every time the phone rings, doctors, friends, family, etc. Come to think of it, the only time he does not scream is when Daddy calls - how does he know:confused:

LOL - I make my phone calls during DS' bath time or when he is playing outside for exactly that reason. (I bring the phone into the bathroom or outside with us!) Those are the only times he doesn't seem to mind me being on the phone.

Like moths to a flame...

Kids when mom is on the phone!

That is too too funny:rotfl2: ! I love it!!! I hate to tell you but it never changes. My kids can be outside playing and completely unaware of what I am doing inside and come in to bug me just as I get on the phone to talk to someone. I swear they have a special radar that tells them "MOM"S ON THE PHONE LET"S BUG HER!" I absolutely don't get how they know, but somehow they always do:confused3 . My DD did the same thing to me when I was on the phone with a CM and the CM just kept laughing! I'll let you know if mine ever get to the point where they aren't doing this anymore;) .

And, it's not just your OWN kids, either, that do this, let me tell you!

This week DD had a playdate and they were playing so quietly - until I got on the phone! Then it was LOUD time! Ugh!

And earlier today, I took DD with me to DS's karate class. We went into an empty room and as soon as I called my sister to chat, 3 other kids came in yelling and screaming.

Oh well - what can you do, lol!!!

The phone or the bathroom then everything is life or death!!!

My DS is only 9.5 mos old and he gets so mad when I get on the phone! Even as a very new baby, that would be the only time he would cry!

The same thing happened to me on Friday! I was on the phone with Disney making ADR's and DD would not stop screaming! I ended up giving her anything she wanted to keep her quiet so that I could hear the CM. I actually felt bad for the CM! Funny how she was playing fine before I called and was totally fine after the call!

I hear you.. mine do the same thing. Friday I had the manager from the Coral Reef call me back to arrive my diver sign. I saw the 407 number on my cell and ran downstairs for some quiet from my 1 and 2yo. While on the phone I hear the water running full blast in the sink... kids climbed up on the toilet and were playing in the sink. Oh what a mess I had when I was done... It was well worth it though.

So glad we're not the only ones!:rotfl:

My 11 yo still can not stand to see me on the phone. She will start by eavesdropping then when I try to shoo her away quietly she starts asking questions or bothering her siblings so they make noise.

Things have changed. I remember loving my mother being on the phone because it meant that I could sneak into the kitchen and swipe a cookie or something. I guess we don't keep such a tight rein on the desserts any more so there is no motivation for them to be quiet.

As Bill Cosby said: My father established our relationship when I was seven years old. He looked at me and said, "You know, I brought you into this world, and I can take you out. And it don't make no difference to me, I'll make another one look just like you. No one will ever know."

:lmao: know exactly what you are talking about. oldest DD has a radar on me whenever I would try to talk on the phone.

I feel your pain. I always say my kids have radar when I get on the phone, they all come for me the second I pick it up. Of course when I am on really important calls, thats when my youngest really step it up and starts screaming bloody murder like somebody died. This does not seem to happen though when I am on a casual call. To the OP I will be happy to let you know that this is something that they never seem to grow out of, my kids range in age 14-7 and this is just a big of a problem now as it was then, except nobody hangs on my legs anymore...thank god!!!

I am absolutely convinced that the touch pad of a phone emits some type of sound similar to a dog whistle, but one only children can hear. It never failed, my four kids could be happily playing and totally occupied, but as soon as I dialed the phone all heck would break loose!

Yep- I seem to have a lot of phone issues. I have a teenager as well as 3 young ones so I can hardly ever even FIND a phone. Also, when it rings, I never find it until the end of the last ring.
My mom JUST called me (by accident she said ;) )while ds-3 was eating breakfast and he decided it was the perfect time to urgently let me know that "your eyebrows hold your eyelids up and keep your eyes from falling on your feet" :lmao: I guess he was worried I might decide to shave my eyebrows off one day???
