You Can't Do That On Television

Sadly my memories of the show, though fond, are all a little vague. The one episode I remember well, for some reason, is where the show was going to be taken over by the Russians, and everyone spent the whole episode terrified of Communists, who ultimately just wanted to douse everyone in red colored slime.

That's an episode that would be next to meaningless today, but which was totally understandable to me as a child in the 80's.

Another one with a crush on Alasdair.:cutie:
I looooved his accent. He has aged very well, judging by the pic in the PP.

Hahahah!! Gotcha! I'll help you if you help me clean the 15 stalls in my barn that I didn't get to cause I was busy reminiscing about YCDTOT. :happytv:

:scared1: Umm...I think I'll stick to my own dishes & laundry!!!

I think I might buy those DVDs and put them on my iPod!!! :thumbsup2

I have horses! I'll help you.

BTW, dont flame me y'all but I think Alasdair only aged okishly.

I loved loved loved this show when I was in jr. high, but I was a bit of a closet fan. Never told anyone.

It was the first show that taught me about dialect. I remember asking my dad once, "What kind of accent pronounces 'about' like 'aboot'?" I had no clue that Canadians spoke differently than we do.

I also had NO IDEA why the heck they were talking like that!!! :cutie: My friends and I thought there was something a little 'off' about them because of it...I had no idea the show was filmed in Canada until years later! lol

Ahh, we were so young and innocent then, weren't we?

My cousin had a crush of Kevin Kubucheski (sp?) during his second season on the show, when he filled out.
I always wished Christine would take care of her moustache.
Lisa Ruddy - we called her Lisa Cruddy.
There was that younger blond girl with cross eyes and glasses - Vanessa? Did a lot of skits with Douggie.
Loved that show - loved noticing whether they were using the thinner, runnier slime (with random chunks!) or the thick, oatmeal-looking stuff, because it varied.

I always noticed the difference in slime too! hehehe And yes, that was Vanessa. If you see the recent pics of Slimecon, she looks EXACTLY THE SAME as she did back then! lol :cutie:

Oh yeah...that good ole days! :thumbsup2

So I was watching an episode online the other day, and my DD8 comes up behind and says "WHAT is THAT???" I told her it was a show I used to watch when I was just a little older than her....she didn't seem to intrigued. :snooty: So I am really thinking about getting those DVDs and showing her what it was REALLY like to 'live' as a kid back in our day! :cool2: lol
