You can spit on Space Mountain from here! An April '13 TR UPDATED 10/19 p. 28

TOY STORY MANIAAAAAAAA!!!!!! OH my gosh, that beautiful ride! :hyper:

That cupcake looks so good!!! Wow, I'm sorry, this comment is extremely lame. I'm having an off day! :lmao: I enjoyed the update though!

Haha, it's so funny that Mr. Potato Head caused so much back up in the queue since normally the queue is so full. I've never seen him there though, since I've never done standby on Toy Story. So I was glad that he's out front and center in California Adventure.

Ugh, I hate when they don't use the single rider on RNRC. It happened to me too. Boo-urns.

I have discovered that the bus service at the MK deluxe resorts just isn't great. It's semi irritating at times.

I am very excited for Monsters University!

Yay, TSM! My favorite of course. I am constantly irritated by people stopping in front of Potato Head. I don't mind the picture, because I always take pictures, but man! People are so slow at getting the picture.

Excellent second breakfast.

Great update for AK! Can you believe that I have never rode Dinosaur! My daughter has never been tall enough to ride it but it looks like this year she will be tall enough. Plus we love Everest! One our must do's!

That really stinks about missing the bus and having to wait so long for another one! The new way they open DHS is really great, especially when you can be there right when it opens. It is SO much less stressful to get down to Pixar Place without being stuck in the middle of a mob of people trying to go to the same place!

Love your pics of ToT, especially the sepia ones. So fitting & creepy!

Mmmm a Butterfinger cupcake sounds like the PERFECT breakfast!!!

I had the same problem waiting for the DHS bus in the morning at BLT. It seemed like it took forever, and more and more people just showed up behind me...I made sure I stood right up front so I was the first one on that bus, lol! And I was waiting for magic hours too, which made it extra annoying! :rotfl2:

Yay TSM! I feel like we never do the standby line because my DH doesn't believe me that it's not that bad in the morning, because he gets scared, seeing all the people waiting for it! :rotfl2:

Mr. Potato Head is cute, but you should really be allowed to walk by people taking their pictures!

Ahhh ToT, my favorite!!! I love those black and white shots you got of it, makes it look extra creepy! :thumbsup2

Hi Sarah! I am really enjoying reading your TR! I love that Chick-fil-A is still your tradition! I love all the pics you take with the different settings on your camera! I REALLY love the TOT pics! So cool! Your view at BLT is awesome! Looking forward to reading more about your trip!!
~Beth

I love how it's always a mad dash to toy story mania. I'm sure the cast members love it even more. It's my life goal to beat my husband at least once! I miss rockin roller coaster...I need to get on it again next time I go. Can't wait to see what characters you meet! It's always so fun.

Thanks. :)

It is a pretty amazing ride. Love it!

The cupcake was really good...but not good enough for me to finish. Those things are huge! Glad you enjoyed the update. :)

Maybe people felt that because it was early in the morning and the line wasn't too long they could all stop for a picture. I will confess that my sister and I got our picture there but that was during the soft openings/preview.

It does stink. But then again it's also by far the slowest single rider line in WDW. Ugh.

Yes it is but there's not much you can do about it. Oh well. Atleast we made it!

Me too!

I agree, and then there are people who have to get a picture with every combination of people in their group. So annoying.

Thank you, I thought it was a good choice.

Great update for AK! Can you believe that I have never rode Dinosaur! My daughter has never been tall enough to ride it but it looks like this year she will be tall enough. Plus we love Everest! One our must do's!

Thanks! Oooh, you should do Dinosaur but the first ride will probably be scary!

Awesome update with HS! We love TOT and can't wait to ride TSM this year!

Thank you again. :) Hope you enjoy TSM on your trip!

It was a bummer but atleast we were still there by opening and with the new opening the wait wasn't that bad.

Thank you! I thought that setting would be fitting for Tower of Terror.

It was so good!

Oh really? It seems like DHS is the only park I can remember having bus issues. A couple times at Saratoga Springs we've had to wait a really long time. Strange.

Yes you should!

Glad you liked the TOT pictures. I know you love that ride!

Hi Beth! Welcome! I am glad you are enjoying the report so far and thank you for the compliment on the pictures. Wasn't our view great?! I loved it!

haha, I can't imagine how the cast members feel. It is probably somewhat exciting but also really annoying. I would get so irritated with the people who feel the need to run even though they always say to walk. Maybe that's why they changed the opening routine.

Hi everyone! I am sorry I didn't get around to posting another update this week. I was hoping to get another one done since I'll be heading to Michigan for the weekend. But hopefully when I get back on Monday I can get one posted. In the mean time, here's a clue to one of the places we headed next...

Hope everyone has a great Memorial Day weekend!

Sarah

Hi Sarah! I hope you are enjoying your holiday weekend in Michigan!

The wait for the buses at BLT/CR had us opting to go to the monorail to the TTC a few times. Not sure if it was faster but it sure made me feel better to be able to get part way there and only have a shart wait for a bus from TTC. :)

That was awesome that a Diser shared the 15th anniversary button/park schedule!

Sounds like I need to get to DHS during am EMHs since I would love to do RnRC and ToT with shorter waits. That's awesome that you can usually do the 3 big rides before park open. Note to self: set my alarm next trip! ;)

I found Starring Rollls. I never knew there was all those little eating places in that area. I got the same cupcake and had it boxed up. I took it back to our convention resort and they have free ice cream at night for kids, but anyone can go get it.

Later that evening, I brought it along to our reception, and I made 3 of my friends go get ice cream with me and we split the cup cake into 4 pieces. We were all laughing and moaning how good it was. We snuck outside on the patio to eat and it was so good.

Hi there! Thank you...I had a good time in Michigan this weekend. It was definitely busy (not to mention a lot of driving!).

We've done that a few times too when the bus service has been bad. I agree, it might not make it any faster but when you're moving you atleast feel like you've accomplished something.

Yes it was! I was so happy he was willing to give me the DAK goodies. :)

You really should! It is so nice to be able to get those 3 rides done so quickly with EMH!

It is amazing how many little restaurants there are that I had never heard of until the DIS. Glad you found Starring Rolls! I wish I would've boxed mine up but it probably would've melted carrying it around all morning. Oh well. Next time I'll have to wait until we're ready to leave to get a cupcake!

Mmm, that cupcake with ice cream sounds good!

Loved the updates!:thumbsup2

BOG looks amazing and Yay for the Little Mermaid ride!! I can't wait to see them next year!:)

I'm glad you enjoyed your first dole whip!:goodvibes

Wow!! Great lion photos at DAK!

I always get nervous before riding Dinosaur as well. But, I still love it! So much fun!!!

Yum! That cupcake looks delicious! A great breakfast choice for sure!!;)

Hi Angie! Glad you enjoyed the updates!

Ooh, yay! So do you have a trip in the works then???

Me too. I think I will have to get another dole whip eventually!

Dinosaur is awesome. :thumbsup2

haha, thanks! It definitely filled me up!

Hi everyone! Sorry it's been over a week since I last posted and that I didn't actually get an update done on Monday. Like I said, I was in Michigan for the weekend. On Saturday I got to go to the Tigers-Twins game, which was the first time I had ever been to Comerica Park! Of course I had to find the Tiger All Star Mickey (from the AS game they had in Anaheim a few years ago!). I seem to find a little bit of Disney in everything. :rolleyes1

Anyway...it's time to get back to the trip report!

WEDNESDAY, APRIL 3, 2013 cont'd (part 2)

Since we weren't able to get on RNRC, we decided it would be a good opportunity to meet some of the characters I had on my list. One of the meet and greets I wanted to do was Phineas and Ferb. According to Emma, they always have a pretty long line so we headed to the back of the park. We passed through Commissary Lane. Since that is Emma's old Disney home, we had to stop and take a picture.

Emma by her old workplace, the ABC Commissary!

I had to take a picture of that Modern Family poster. I had never seen Modern Family before but when I heard that they were doing a Disneyland episode, I had to watch (even though I had no clue what was going on). But, Dad and I thought it was hilarious and now it is one of our favorite shows.

After passing through Commissary Lane, we found the Phineas and Ferb line! We definitely weren't the only people there but it wasn't too long of a wait. I think we might've been the only ones in line without kids though...but WHATEVER, I like meeting the newer characters!

I think we waited about 20 minutes before it was our turn.

I really don't know what is going on in these pictures...I might've been laughing because Phineas pointed out how I was wearing orange like him and Emma was wearing yellow like Ferb. Yeah, we're awesome.

Thankfully, our photopass picture turned out a little better:

After our meet with Phineas and Ferb we had to say good-bye to Emma because she had to head back to her apartment to get ready for work. But we would see her again on Thursday!

Dad and I then went to use our fastpasses for Toy Story Mania.

Any guesses whose score is on the right? Yeah, not mine. Once again I lost. BOO! And it seems like more often than not Dad has the highest score in our ride vehicle but this time somebody else actually beat him.

Even though I lost yet again, we still had a lot of fun. I just don't understand how I can never beat my dad.

From there we walked over to the Animation building. My main reason for going there was for another character meet...Wreck-it Ralph! Now at that time, I had not yet seen the movie (but thanks to all of the rave reviews from various DISers, we rented it on pay per view. I really liked it! It was a cute movie!) but like I said, I think it's fun to meet the newer and unique characters, especially when they seem to come and go so quickly (it still bums me out I missed out on Carl from Up! and I am very thankful I waited when Flynn Rider was still doing meet and greets with Rapunzel!). The line for Ralph and Vanellope was pretty long but I figured I might as well wait since I really wanted to meet them.

The queue was all video game-themed.

Right before we got to meet them the character attendant gave us a little card and washable tattoo since they don't do autographs. It is quite understandable given Ralph's size. He was HUGE!

So after that meet I could scratch another character off my must-meet list. WOO HOO!

Next up we stopped at Star Tours. The Jedi Training Academy was going on as we were walking in.

By the time we were finished with Star Tours Dad and I were just about ready for lunch. We decided on Pizza Planet! You can never go wrong with Pizza Planet.

The line there was pretty backed up but thankfully it moved quickly. Dad and I ended up splitting a pepperoni pizza and we each got a small Caesar salad. We got one of the meals and just asked for another salad (which is not on the menu but like my dad says it never hurts to ask!). We found a table upstairs and enjoyed our yummy pizza.

After lunch we started to make our way back to Hollywood Boulevard.

We stopped in a couple of the shops and also had a few more photopass pictures taken.

I also couldn't resist posing by the Milwaukee sign near the park entrance. Yeah, I might've put my Brewers jacket back on for that one. Gotta represent my hometown!

Then we said good-bye to Hollywood Studios for the time being.

But instead of going back to Bay Lake Tower, we decided to take our afternoon break at the Boardwalk, where they were having Welcome Home Wednesdays!

up next: Why did my dad have to wear a kilt?!?!

You had a cold weekend to come to Detroit. It was the coldest Memorial weekend I can remember :confused3 Hope you had fun anyway!

It looks like you had some fun meet and greets and you got some cute pics :)

Go Tigers!!

It's just too much fun to meet characters! I know I feel silly in line too but I try to think of my grandma in line when she went. In front of us kids, with her autograph book at age 65! Then I feel better because my grandma knew the secret...just because you're an adult doesn't mean you don't get to have fun. :) Wreck it ralph looks huge! I love it! He seems like he would be so cool to meet. Him and Gaston, of course.
