The reaction of the crowd and their faces said it all....they were proud of him, what they had accomplished and their work. God Bless them and out President.

I saw it and Iwas very touched. It has been a very inspiring day. When I fine the info I'll post it about the father of a GA soldier that was killed. They are origionally from Columbia and the father (who is in his 40's) wants to now join the military to finish what his son could not.
I agree, too. I noticed how he teared up and my dh and I did as well. I just thought the speech was awesome. I am so proud of our military, and I was so happy to see their pride and excitement! Can you imagine that President Bush slept there on that ship with them last night? God bless our troops: God bless our President and God bless America!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I certainly noticed how handsome he was. All I keep thinking however is about that guy that said the war was just to boast the ego of white American males. Then I look at the men and women who have fought this war and I see the true reflection of American, a rainbow of races, nationalities, religions etc.
Nothing reflects this more IMHO than Diego's fathers comments about his pride in his son and this country.
My brother who has recently returned home from an undisclosed combat location called me. He said that "tears welled up in my eyes. It was like he came to my base, shook my hand and said thank you to me". My DS who is 18 years old sat on the couch watching our wonderful President and said, "I just love that guy".
I wish I had watched the speech. I chose not to because Jim was awake and things like that just make the tension thicker. Although, I have no doubt it was an incredible speech.

I know much of what politicians do is political, but I think the biggest thing a top politician (and none is bigger that the President) is to give the ordinary citizen somebody to look up to, to aspire to and inspire others. Things like this, which some will say is grandstanding, is what, IMO, make a good president. He comes across as a regular guy, a genuine guy. You could tell he was excited to be where he was and with what he was doing yesterday, just like I can imagine I would be. He can instill pride.
