Fess up. I think everyone has that special *something* (or in my case, somethings) in life that you keep getting more and more of and you have no idea why. You just keep buying more. You don't need them, but for some unknown reason, you buy them.

Now I'm not talking about our craft/hobby habit of hording and overbuying - technically we have a method behind our madness there (Hey, I like to think that when I buy my 6000th package of beads..lol)

I'm talking about everyday stuff.

My mom was like this with food. She lived with me for 15 yrs. She would go to the supermarket and buy the same thing over and over again but never eat it. When she went to live with my brother because she needed 24 hour care, she left behind 20 cans of baked beans, 17 packages of Jello non fat chocolate pudding and about a dozen bottles of applesauce. I kept saying to her "Mom, stop buying this stuff unless you are going to eat it". Never stopped her. :rotfl:

With me, it's not food. I'm addicted to buying magic markers. Sharpies especially. I love markers. And damn the Sharpie people, they keep coming out with new colors. I don't NEED a peach colored Sharpie, but I BOUGHT a peach colored Sharpie. I need intervention.

Also plain old scissors. We have plenty. But when I see a good buy on scissors, I buy more. I can't control myself. My mission is to have a pair of scissors within arms reach not matter where you are to cut something out on a moments notice I suppose. :rotfl:

At work, I buy (well, order) too many dust clothes. My employees had to finally tell me "Lauri, we have 8 packages of 100 dust clothes that aren't even open. DON'T order any more this month". But.. I like those little yellow swiffer-like clothes and what if we get REALLLLLY dusty? Okay. I'm lame.

So fess up - what are you obsessed with buying? You know there must be something you can't resist!

Pictures of my kids.. good or bad.. I buy them... My dh said he was glad that the digitals came out..because now I still have the good/bad pictures but I seem to only print out the good ones...and they are all stored on the computer and 2 back up CD's!

Wow this is a hard one. I know what my DH is. He is obssesed with deodarant. LOL everytime we go to the store he buys one or two and they are always the same scent/style/type. He is not a stinky man and jus thow much deodarant can you use. For me I would have to say that I buy way to much nailpolish. I'm always buying new colors and then putting them in the cabinet never to be used again. I don't wear polish on my finger nails most of the time and I always paint my toes the same color. LOL I just can't pass by a pretty shade and who really needs blue or orange crackle nail polish? If you find out let me know since I have a couple of bottles at home.

Toilet paper. You can never have too much toilet paper! I have a storage closet, and an entire shelf is dedicated to toilet paper. Every time I go to BJs, I buy one of those huge honkin' packages, even if I KNOW that I have two at home already.

I guess if I decide I want to toilet paper every tree in my town, I am prepared.

MAKEUP!!

I love makeup. Particularly lipsticks and eyeshadows. I am an eyeshadow fiend. I just love new colors, and I have to see if they look good on my eyes. I probably have at least 12 lipsticks and 8-10 packs of eyeshadow in my makeup kit at home.

Tennis Shoes. I have 7 pairs at home. One I wear regularly, one to mow in, one to play with the dogs in, and 4 more to clutter the closet. I think I have heard that this is supposedly a "guy thing" but who knows.

Of course, this total does not include the dress shoes for work, "casual" shoes for "casual Friday", flip flops, Tevas, etc.

Pens - espcially gel pens. Unique ball point pens, highlighters, unique mechanical pencils, notepaper, post its.

Beanie baby bears - occasionally a kitty but mostly bears. I have so many of these cute little bears that do nothing but collect dust. I have my real collectable bears to - I have a few Raikes and build a bear but I don't go overboard with those.

I am seriously thinking of gathering up the beanie bears that I can live without and send them to soldiers to give a way to kids in Iraq. I even looked up a website that told how to pack them and where to send them so they could be distributed. Now if I will just do it.

Makeup, white and black t shirts, jeans, shoes for DD6, t shirts for DS9, travel stuff )got four drawers devoted to travel stuff!), luggage, bath toys and WDW stuff.

I always say I won't buy any souvieners at WDW this time and "this time" I ended up sending three huge boxes home!!

I think I have a magnet inside of me that certain things are attracted to. When I run in the store for "just one thing" I end up with a bunch. :goodvibes

black slacks and polos. I live in those things when I teach or interpret.
Sharpies too.
Beads.
Tupperware

Pens and pencils. If the desk drawer is empty I just buy more. I think I have a pen monster in my house. Seriously if the kids would just put them back after doing their homework it would be ok.
Yeah right, I don't believe it either. I guess I'll keep Staples in business...

Oh yeah and crayons, you can never have to many crayons!!

I can honestly say, thanks to FlyLady that the only problem I have is with scrapping supplies! :rolleyes1

There was the Y2K and the picante sauce issue (just finished the last jar :lmao: ), but we don't like to talk about that...

I understand the Sharpie thing! I love all of the colors, and it's not like I actually NEED them, but they're such cool colors! :thumbsup2

My other thing (and if DH sees this, he'll definitely second this about me) is PURSES! I love, love, love purses! I have an entire shelf along my closet that is purses (and they are crammed in there!). I have 2 or 3 Mickey ones, 2 golden retriever ones, several cat ones, a Nemo one. . .the list goes on and on. The 6 seniors I coached this year (that I'd had for 4 years) bought me a Vera Bradley backpack purse at the end of the year, so I've just been carrying that one--but there is NO way i'm getting rid of the others. . .who knows when I will want to change???

Definitely luggage, bags, totes, purses, etc. I am an organizing freak show, and love a good bag with lots of pockets. I'm a sucker for a bargain too, so TJ Maxx and Ross tend to be very tempting places for me.

I used to be a collector of junk (pack rat if you will) but after 20 moves in 11 years, I put a stop to that! I'm still weeding through boxes to get rid of stuff.

Partylite Candles! I just moved and packed up 14 dozen votives in various scents and about 10 dozen tealights. A dear friend had a party on Wednesday and I have another dozen votives coming...

Shoes. A girl can never have too many pairs of shoes!

Books. I always have at least a dozen waiting for me to start. Oooh, they all look so good at the book store.

If we run out of something basic then DH and I go through a phase of "picking one up" every time we are at the store. Currently it is mayonnaise - 4 jars and counting. Ran out a couple of weeks ago, and now can't seem to stop buying the stuff! In the past it has been chilli and various kinds of beans.

DH also has a problem with lightbulbs. I have 1/2 a cabinet full of every shape, size, and wattage imaginable! I think we are better stocked than Home Depot right now!

This is too funny! On NYE 1999 my Dh came home from work with a case of tomato paste, a 50lb bag of rice and a shotgun. And he hates rice! :lmao: It was probably the funniest things he's ever done.

I'm a make up hoarder too. I buy tons of it and never wear it. I only every wear tinted moisturizer, blush and mascara, but yet I have every imaginable eyeshadow color, eyeliner, lipsticks etc etc. It's really terrible. :teeth:

boxes of spaghetti!! I don't know why I have a spaghetti compulsion, but I just can't leave the grocery store without one! sometimes two!

Plants. Usually the black flowered or foliaged plants trigger my obsession, but lately it's been coral, salmon, apricot, mango...you know, all those funky orange/pink shades. Last year it was red, and the year before it was aubergine. Bet you're getting a little nauseous imagining what my garden looks like by now... :scared:

Any thing you can buy. You have to stand back when you open my cupboards or freezer. I remember once my son wrote a story for school and it had something to do with his toe being broken by the piece of meat that fell out of our freezer. My closets are throwing up too. I have a wide selection of a mixture of sizes of clothes. Some day I may fit into them again. God forbid I might throw out something I may need someday. I also have a big pile of bags in the corner of returns. My daughters say I return more things than most people buy. I never know if I may need something and it might be gone next time I go to the store. I think I need a support group or someone to go shopping with. Any takers?
