You Bought WHAT???? Purchases that leave your spouse/s.o./kids shaking their heads

Costco ribbon or wrapping paper. DH thinks I have an addiction problem. He might be right. ;) On the plus side, my presents look freakin' awesome and I do use it all up!

Vera Bradley, they send me emails all the time with sales, and who can pass up free shipping and a %off! Last trip we made 3 trips to the outlet store so all bets are off for this trip!

Replying here as one of those who've made the, "You bought WHAT?!", exclamations the OP encountered...

Disney-bound in November. My beloved sister [among 4] who hasn't traveled in years is - FINALLY - coming along! So happy about that, yet she she's gone WAY overboard with purchases in "preparation" for the trip in an effort to be helpful.

Got to the point where she'd purchased so many snack foods; travel-sized bottles of toiletries; and - oddly enough - multiple pajama sets for each of us - that I'd finally had to beg her to stop; explain that there was only so much we could pack; and reassure her that there are, in fact, places to purchase such items, affordably enough, in the vicinity of Orlando...

The final straw was when she presented me - all at once - with three full-size bars of soap; two more travel-sized tubes of toothpaste (to add to the six others); and six bags of Pepperidge Farms Goldfish crackers...And all for a two-week stay for six people vs.the Zombie Apocalypse of indeterminable duration.

Love my sister! Can't wait to see her have an overdue magical experience...But might make her tote the luggage!

I think your sister is just so excited and wishes it was time for the trip already. Since I have done similar things--not to the same extent--in the past, I can tell you that your sister probably has made some sort of countdown. Have a fabulous time!!

Do prior purchases count? I have a ridiculous amount of office supplies. I think it would take me well over a year to use up all of the Post-Its I have acquired. On the plus side, they will never go bad and I will be using them once I start working in my new career. :)

absolutely they count! just like your post it's my shower caps will never go bad so even if my son decides to deep condition his hair 7 days a week I'm set for over a year:rotfl:we did have a fun discussion last night about alternate uses for them in the event of a zombie apocalypse.

we opened our last package of printer paper and I was going to just replace it until I found a deal that ends tomorrow on staples-full case/5000 sheets-regularly 53.99 but w/the rebate they are offering it comes down to $14.99 (and again-free shipping). that's less than I pay for 2 or 3 packages so why not?

Thanks for the tip! I bought the printer paper yesterday. Great deal :rotfl:

I just bought 10 mannequins. My wife and kids think I'm crazy. Couldn't pass them up at $2.50 a piece.

Okay, in my defense here is the full story. The Macy's in downtown Pittsburgh is closing up shop. They are selling all their fixtures and the 1/2 mannequins dropped to $2.50. I got 6 that have heavy bases and 4 that have long poles on wheels. I collect WWII militaria so these are perfect for my man cave.

That is a real bargain, those things are really expensive.

My spouse has no problem when I buy things. I do so rarely and he actually likes it as he then look less bad for things he buys.

My mom however thinks many things I have are weird:

1) Trash cans in the living room, dining room, each bathroom, and bedroom in addition to the kitchen. My parents house has one trash can. I thought that was dumb as a kid and still do.

2) A huge box of like 30 notebooks. My DH works at target and about this time of year 3 or so years ago they were on sale 90% clearance. Then he has his red card and employee discounts of 5% and 10%. Yeah that case of notebook worked out to 3 cents each. I like notebooks. Keeps track of bill paying and grocery lists and anything else I need.

I'm sure there are more...

My husband and I got married in June. He knew I was a couponer but is just now learning that that sometimes means very large purchases of things when they are a good deal. I got an amazing deal on k-cups when coffee giant went out of business. 10 cents each. However, I had to spend 65.00 to get free shipping. That equaled 720 k-cups! He just shook his head. Today I bought 600 trash bags that were a good deal at Lowes. That's another one where he'll just shake his head. Luckily, my mother loves a good deal and I can usually convince her to split with me :)

My DH used to shake his head at just about everything I bought!!!! I am a couponer and if I find a great deal I will stock up. (Ex. When Target first came out with their Ups product, I got dryer sheets for .09 per box and all purpase cleaner for .25 each. That was 4 years ago and I'm still using them). Now, my DH brags about what I save us in shopping. Family of 3, 1 dog, and many drop ins. I pay no more than $150.00- $200.00 per month for food/household/pet.

todays head shaker was a 30 bottle order from bath and bodyworks. between the buy 3 get 2 free and a 20% entire order code I got body wash down from $12.50 a bottle to $6.00 a bottle (and the flat shipping rate is less than it costs to drive to our nearest location).

dh thought I was nuts till I reminded him how much he paid for just 2 bottles when we ran out at one point.

so we're set for about a year at a good savings.

How big are the bottles? Even at $6.00 sounds overpriced to me for bodywash

We prob have 20 of the large boxes of assorted cereal in our house- I'm trying to get enough airmiles for our last park hopper and cereal always gets a good bonus at Safeway. Hubby thinks I'm crazy, but we really go through lots and lots anyways

I ordered 48 boxes of the Johnson & Johnson cotton swabs I like. All of the stores in my town and the surrounding towns no longer carried them because I think they were discontinued. I tried other brands and did not like them, so I got online and found some and ordered everything they had. Now, I don't have to worry about finding a new kind I like for quite a while!

New one, I ordered a box of 200 hot mustard packets from amazon. You really cannot find this on store shelf's by where I live. I got it for my little sisters b-day (she loves the brand I got here and she is picky). My dad loved it but everyone else was like uhh and okay.

What are your favorite scents from bath and body??? I didn't know of the sale but like their foaming soaps so am off to order!!!!

Mine purchase isn't stuff for home - but I enjoy the dessert parties at WDW, so I will splurge on them when I'm travelling solo (or if I can convince my travel partners to spend the money when I'm not). I enjoy feeling pampered and not having to fight the crowds, so to me its worth the money, even if my family doesn't agree! :mickeybar

it's actualy the lack of scent that a very few of their products have that I like-and am willing to pay even what I consider at high price for. both ds and I get migraines, and heavily scented stuff can trigger them. additionally we're sensitive skinned so allot of the less expensive products leave us itching like mad.

I LOVED it when the used to have a green tea scent (discontinued), so now we get by primarily on the eucalyptus/spearmint (but when it's available and on sale I like one of their lemon scents as well as the (?) orange/ginger.

A portable bar - the people said it was from the 1950's but I think it's from the 1970's. The top unfolds and when you open the inside there are holders for glassware which none of my current glassware fits and one side holds wine/liquor bottles and the other side pulls out to hold an ice bucket and more liquor bottles.

Then there was the time I bought a walnut buffet. One of the legs was broken and it needed refinishing but the drawers were dovetailed and all the hardware was there.
My FIL and husband wanted to know what I was going to do with that piece of junk. Well, I fixed the leg, refinished it and it sits in my dining room. When my FIL came for a visit not long after it was done, he asked if I finally tossed the garbage buffet. I got the pleasure of seeing the surprised look on his face when I told him the refinished piece was that buffet.
