WOW! That's awesome! See..........THIS is exactly the kind of thing that sets Disney apart from all the rest! Sure it's a promotion, but those people were already AT Disney and received a wonderful, magical surprise.

From now on when people ask me what makes Disney so great this story is what I'm going to tell them.

WOW! that really is GREAT!! I couldn't even imagine ever staying in a deluxe resort. We struggled this year just to stay in a value resort.. somehow at the last minute we pulled together an extra few $$ just so we could be able to stay on-site. I always wondered how people could afford to stay in a deluxe resort with them being so expensive when we can barely afford the money it costs to stay in the values. I think if we were so lucky to be upgraded to a deluxe, i might have a heart attack and have to be revived by mickey!!!

If you scrimp and save and get discounts, it's possible! DBF and I are college students and managed to pull enough money together to stay at Wilderness Lodge this past week. It was value season, which made it significantly cheaper, we booked a standard room, and WL is the least expensive of the deluxes. We also received free dining, which helped A LOT. We figured we must have saved around $600 in food alone. Not to mention, we also each had a years worth of Disney Visa points saved up, which totaled about $236 altogether. DBF's birthday was also the other day, so he asked for giftcards to use down there for souvenirs. Definitely think about giving it a try next year if they stick with the free dining; it's definitely worth it to stay at a deluxe atleast once. Good luck!

That is absolutely wonderful, and it is great to know that they are not limited to just the prizes on the list that they released. Extra magic! I bet that they were really happy when it happened.

What they didn't tell was that, as a special treat, the guests who actually had the ressies for that Poly room were carted-up and moved by Checker Cab to the Kissimmee Budget Minders Motor-Hostel with a scenic view of the "Stick 'Em Up Glue-works" factory (if you stood on a chair in the shower) for 3 nights and 5 days.
Including unlimited use of the pool (if they can keep it inflated).


Talk about your "Million Dreams!"

it makes you think, it's a shame disney can't give away a vacation to someone really under-priviledged, who couldn't even dream of ever going on a vacation....

They do - frequently - don't you ever watch Extreme Home Makeover - families that could never afford to go to WDW are sent there on a regular basis. I'm sure it's (at least in part) donated by Disney. Just like other things are donated by businesses to help build the home/provide furnishings/a new car/pay of mortgate etc.


VERY COOL your friends got that dream!!!

I don't expect to get any YOAMD things since we won't have kids with us. I'm sure they show a preference to families with children present.

Thats it, Im booking the cheapest room at a Value Resort! When I get there, If they dont take me to the Poly Im gonna be like "uhhh..nevermind, Im canceling this trip, see ya".
