How's the construction on the new Y & Y restaruant in AK coming along? Anyone been past there lately?

We have started referring to it as the Yak & Yeti - because it seems to be so far away......in a galaxy.... well you get the idea. Seems its been a long time getting here.

Uuuhhhh . . . . I guess it's good you've started referring to it as the Yak & Yeti. That's the name of it. :confused3

I think you have it backwards but I totally understand. I don't know why but I have Ying and Yak in my head as well. I even asked if they were taking reservations for the Ying and Yak the other day:guilty: (and I should know better LOL)

As for an answer to your question, the powers that be are still saying it's set to open Nov. 14 but rumor on the boards is it is going to be delayed as they still aren't taking ADRs.

We looked at it in September and it looks like they still have quite a bit of work to do. From what I gathered, it will be a counter service and table service place. But that changes, too. What a mystery it all is...

Never ever have I seen a restaurant being constructed for so long....it seems like they have been working on it forever, but I do understand it will be huge...seating like 350 or so for TS. I can't wait and will start trying to do an ADR Nov 14th...and try every day I'm at the world!

Here's wishing I get to eat there!

Where did you hear that it will have counter service and table service?I had heard it would be table service, but if it also has counter service that would be a great option.

Hopefully table service. AK does not need one more CS. Hoping for some unique food offerings at least.

I believe this is from an official Disney press release:

"New Dining Options at Disney's Animal Kingdom: Beginning in November, guests who travel to the land of Asia in Disney's Animal Kingdom will get a real taste of that exotic part of the world with the opening of Yak & Yeti Restaurant. Inspired by the western Himalayan foothills in India and Nepal, this Asian-fusion establishment will offer table-service dining and a full-service bar, as well as quick-service food and beer-garden options, plus retail offerings from Pan-Asia ranging from silk purses, incense and saris to fine teapots. It will seat 250 inside for table-service dining and 350 in a quick-service courtyard."

So it's both Now that is interesting . In Feb I was wondering what to do for lunch now I know! Have to try at least 1 brand new place!!

All I know is I am crossing my fingers that it is ready for our trip in March. At this pace, who knows. :confused3

Isn't anyone else concerned that half of the name of this restaurant is "Yak"? Like, I ate here and the first thing I did was yack?

I don't know about 'wanting to yack' but I think I would probably prefer to be served yak than to order a chunk of yeti.. :confused3

Does anyone have a clue or guess as to when it will begin taking ADR's? I would like to make one for my trip this Christmas, if it is ready by then.

Ha ha hop a plane to Tibet! Actually, I've had Yak's-milk cheese before, and it's not bad! But all in all, I've got to think that the meat of a mythical creature has got to be pretty tasty..... :rotfl:

I have searched and searched and can not find any real details regarding the menus for Y&Y?:confused3 One thread mentioned someone had posted it, but I can not locate. Has anyone seen any details?
