Yet another water park question ;) is this a bad idea?

We do this all the time!, if you rent a locker at the water park, you can use your receipt to get a locker at the theme park.

We also use water parks as our break and would rather skip all the extra bus rides.

Yeah, we need a locker at the water parks anyway, so we use that receipt to show at the next park and stash our wet stuff in a locker at one of the parks we hit next.

We often put our swimsuits in Ziploc bags to stick in our carry-ons before we head to the airport to go home. So the bag of wet suits stays wet while we're on the bus, waiting for our plane, on the plane, and then home (where I typically forget that we've put them in bags, so they sit overnight). Never had a problem with mildew in those situations. I have discovered wet suits in the back of my car days or more after an outing and those were in bad shape. I think you'll be fine for the amount of time you will have them in bags.

Great! Thank you so much :)

Thanks so much for the info about the locker receipts! I didn't know that was an option before so I definitely plan on taking advantage of it :)

So I have seen some chatter in this thread about the bus routes changing. Its been about 3 years since I have been to any of the water parks. I know I read something about it, but I can't find specific information. I did find a map that completely confused me! If I want to get from POR to Typhoon Lagoon using Disney transportation....do I have to go to Disney Springs first? Help.

We went straight from All Star Music Resort to both Typhoon Lagoon and Blizzard Beach, and then straight back. However, that was in the morning hours heading to them, and around 12-1pm heading back to resort. Never went to Disney Springs on either ride.

As long as this thread is here, I'll add yet another another question.

Our plans are to Lyft from Universal to BWV right after breakfast, check our luggage with bell services, and head over to one of the water parks.

  1. Would we be able to get our iPads locked in the hotel safe? Or better off taking them with us and getting a locker at the water park?
  2. Do the water parks ever run out of lockers? This will be late Sep.
  3. Does it make sense to change into swim suits at our Universal Hotel before checking out? Bring a change of street clothes to the water park?
  4. What sort of things are we likely to forget to pack where we can get at them, instead of being at the mercy of bell services and our timing? No kids involved. Do we need to bring cash, or are magic bands enough?
  5. I assume they actually have bell services available for a BWV point rental. Correct?

We do this quite often and never have a problem, but I bring a stroller on those days. My kids are waaaayyyy past needing strollers (11,10,8) and we kept the stroller that used to carry a carseat on it. We tossed the car seat many years ago and kept the stroller part. We call this our stroller for stuff and often use to tote clothes and coolers on beach vacations and zoo getaways. It's not as bulky as a wagon and can easily fold away in our resort when we don't need it.

Once we get back from the waterpark, we hop the bus to the park of our choice (we are never tired, because we spend the last hour of our waterpark time winding down with naps and ice cream). At the park, we pop open the stroller, toss our bags in the storage area and drape all of our suits over the top of everything to dry out. I bring clothespins everywhere and just clip them to the bags in case some wind picks up :) We park the stroller in the first parking area we see and take off. In over 5 years of doing it this way with Disney trips every year, we have never had an issue of lost items or anything like that :)

Holy crap, you make me want a Stroller for Stuff lol. Thanks so much for posting! I appreciate it and I am relieved to see that others have done this without a hitch :)

For our 1st and 2nd visit, our stroller was dual purpose: kids and stuff. We used our stroller as a purely "Stroller for Stuff" :) for our 3rd and 4th stay. Didn't really need it for the kids, but it was great to haul around bottled water, misc items, and our heavy soft sided cooler.

BY the time our fifth visit came around, we reluctantly gave up our stroller for a backpack instead. I say reluctantly because i'm the one typically carrying the backpack. :) We have really rationed down what we bring into the parks now, and the maneuverability is much better but I have to say, I miss that stroller for the benefits it brought. :thumbsup2:thumbsup2:thumbsup2

Yes I am the designated backpack wearer as well. That is why I am so envious of people who have found alternative methods of toting their belongings around lol

You guys are so awesome! Thanks so much for your replies. I have decided that we are going to just go straight to the parks afterwards. We will probably take a taxi to HS since that seems to be the most convenient way to go about it.

My one concern is having the bathing suits in the ziploc bags...in the September humidity, I worry about mildew. Has anyone ever had that happen or would the swimsuits have to be in the bags for a long time for that happen?

If you rent a locker, I would leave the Ziplock bag standing up and opened (if not all the way, definitely slightly) - you'll be surprised how quickly your bag will dry out because those lockers get SO hot.

Ooh good idea! Thank you thank you thank you!

Yup, we love our stroller for stuff :) I was the designated backpack wearer and I realized it was always full of useless stuff, so now this is perfect! We always get loads of compliments on our stroller and so many people keep telling us they have to try that! It's well worth it to bring crud in and not have to deal with it unless we absolutely need to!
