Forgive me for this but truth be told, we never really go anywhere so I have never run into this. What is typical at a resort? Who am I tipping? The person that brings our bags to the room, ok, how much? Anyone else? Do I need to tip the check-in/out people at the counter? We are staying at the CSR in August and I just want to make sure I budget for tips! Thanks!!

We tip any people who handle our bags, usually give them 2 dollars for each bag. You do not tip the CM who checks you in at the resort. We also leave the mousekeeper, people who clean the rooms. We leave them a few dollars a day. Some people leave this tip all at the end of their stay, but you never know if the same people who clean the room will be the one who does it on the day you leave and then they would never get any of the tip.

My DH and I just tip the mousekeeper, we leave 3.00 to 4.00 a day. We would tip the person who bring our bag to our room but we are gone to the park and don't get back to late. usually when we leave a tip for the mousekeeper they make some kind of animal with the towels and face cloths. I like that.:cool1:
enjoy your vacation

I'll echo what has been said. I usually travel solo or with another adult. I tip $1-2/bag each time the bags are handled. I tip $1-2 per night per person in the room. If I had children (more people=more mess), I would tip a bit more.

We recently returned from ASMu. We left $5 a day for mousekeeping. We were in a family suite with two kids and they did an awesome job so I was glad to tip them. On our last day, we left $20 because we were so pleased with the service. They always did cute things with our towels and the kids toys. We were always excited to get back to the room to see what they had done so they made our stay even more magical!

BTW, we drove ourselves and handled all our own luggage so I can't comment on that.

My husband is a big tipper, so I have learned from him. It does add up but I see how people respond to it and I wouldn't give it up, assuming the person has done his job and particularly if they do it well :thumbsup2 You are spreading positive energy when you tip people, IMO. Of course, generous tips are not in everyone's budgets, but a smile or a "thank you" can be a tip in and of itself for a lot of CMs :wizard:

I tip our driver $20 each way if we fly in and have a car service.
If we drive to WDW I tip valet about $20 for baggage handling and parking car when we first arrive. I hate the confusion of this, though, b/c I'd rather pay just once for my luggage usually one person seems to unload and another delivers them...
I tip bell services $10-$20 when bags are delivered, depending on how many bags. Like a previous poster, about $2 per bag but I round up.
I tip anyone who brings me anything to the room: room service (they say it's included but I never feel comfortable not giving at least $5), Disney Florist, dry cleaning, extra towels, etc. just a couple of dollars...
I tip housekeeping $3-$5 in the a.m. and $3-$5 at night when we get turndown service.
I tip the valet any time I get the car or drop it back off, about $2.
I also tip at the bars at the pools - just as I would at home.
And I tip the girl who does the hair wrapping! About 20%.
