Yet another stroller question

We will be taking my 5 year old grandson to WDW in less than two weeks. We took him when he was 3, and he jumped right into a stroller at MK without even asking him to. He now has a little brother at home, and I'm afraid that this trip he may feel he is too big for a stroller. However, I know that if we don't rent one, he will get tired of walking quickly. How do you handle it, and what do you say to a 5+ child to convince them that strollers are not just for babies? (I would gladly ride if they had one big enough for me.)

Thanks!:p

At 5 we wanted DS to be out of the stroller so that we could just bring a simple umbrella stroller for younger DS. He actualy did fine by age 5...and we are park commandos, LOL! However, if you really want him in a stroller a good investment for you may be the sit and stand carriage. The younger child sits in the front, like a regular carriage and the older child can stand on the platform on back, or turn around and there is a little seat there. We used that until our kids were 1 & 4 and it was a lifesaver. Its a bit clunky to carry around on the buses, but well worth the minor inconvenience.

He will probably see plenty of kids his age or older riding in strollers while you are there. Would you want to rent one anyway and then let him know he could ride in it when he got tired? Or if you have an umbrella stroller, I'd bring it along, again letting him know it was available if he got tired. We've even pulled or pushed ours while it was still folded up. As long as the breaks aren't on, it's easy to do. They only other option is not renting one and then going back up to the front of MK when and if he does get tired. We didn't think our DD5 would need or want a stroller on our last trip (we had brought one for DS2). But after and hour at Epcot she was whining that her feet hurt and we ended up having to rent another one from then on.

I'll second the sit-n-stand stroller.

Here's what we have -

When our kids were 5/3/1 we used this and could squish all 3 in. 1 in front and 2 in back. Although it's tough to turn with this much weight.

Now they're 6/4/2 and almost always it's only 1 or 2 in the stroller. The kid in the back doesn't feel confined to a seat as they can get in and out as they please.

I asked the same question yesterday and found a great deal on a Sit N Stand stroller on eBay!
