Yet another stroller question

We'll be headed to WDW in June with our 3 DDs. the younger 2 will be riding in our double stoller but that leaves our 4yo without a ride. I know she'll need a stroller but I don't know what to get for her. We've been looking at the Maclaren Volo or the Chico Caddy. We'd like to find an umbrella stroller to accommodate her as well as us. I'm 6' and husband is 6'4" so handle height is an issue as well as the fact that DD is the size of a 6yo. Does anyone have any suggestions or ideas that could help us out?
Thanks for help!

We purchased the Mac Triumph for our last trip. My tall DD5 was very comfortable in it but I do not think any of these options are really worth the cost for a child this age. We traveled with DDs 3 and 5 and normally rented a stroller in the park for the older one. She was fine walking around DTD and the resorts.

When we took my daughter last summer she was 3 1/2 but tall for her age. We checked out a TON of strollers trying to find something she fit comfortably in. The only one we found that she wasn't dragging her feet in was the Maclarens. I think we have the vogue model. The cheapest model (not sure of the name) she didn't sit deep enough in, so it wasn't as comfortable for her because she was eating her knees. The Chicco one was much too small for her. So, although I hated spending the money for the Maclaren, it worked well and I LOVE the stroller now. Best money I ever spent. She still fits in it for this year, comfortable enough to even nap in it at the parks (we are there from opening to closing so it is important that she can rest if she needs to).

I love Maclaren strollers. We have a Vogue for ds (almost 5 now) and the Gobal Buggy for ds #2 (edd 6/05/04). I really wouldn't want to spend the money for a Mac for a 6 yo, but if you have younger ones who could also use it I would definitely look into it. One thing I have noticed about the Macs is that the lower end models don't have as deep of a seat as the higher end ones. I think I read somewhere that the new Macs have a weight limit of 55 pounds. Good luck in your search.:D

We have the Volo for my almost 6 year old son, who has stamina issues. I really didn't want to spend a lot of money at this point for my 3rd child. We love the Volo.:bounce: He is comfortable, it is lightweight, easy to fold, nice basket, perfect for an older child. He has always liked to recline, but didn't complain once that he couldn't with the Volo. It was also easy on/off the WDW buses.

Would you consider renting for the oldest? IMHO the rentals are very easy to push and you don't have to worry about carting that second stroller on bus, tram monorial etc. Its pricy but once my kids hit 3ish we always rented rather than brought our own.

Pictures and prices can be found at allearsnet.com

Just another alternative to buying another stroller!

Another option - Bring a sling and rotate who rides. We're going in May with 4.5DD, 2.5DS and 7moDD. Our plan is to rotate with oldest DD walking and youngest DD in a sling to minimize the need for a second stroller. If it gets BAD, we will rent. Our hope is to only need to rent maybe a day or two over the week. We've been doing lots of walks around the neighborhood and oldest DD can go forever it seems (1.5miles nonstop).

We purchased the EuroTrend Sport Stroller at BabiesRUs. We looked at other models including the different Maclaren's but dh couldn't justify paying at least twice as much for something so similar(Euro was only 59.99). We did lots of research on the internet and asking other parents and also the sales clerk at BabiesRUs. She informed us of all the similarties and differences. This model is a few pounds heavier and it has no carrying strap, but it reclines to 4 positions, basket underneath, sun visor and a one hand fold. DD who is a tall 3yr old fit nicely in it and it was very easy to stear w/ one hand. You should check this one out, it is exclusive to BabiesRUs.com or the store. IMHO I'm glad we didn't spend the extra $ on a stroller.

Hope you find what you are looking for!

I keep going back and forth about wether to bring a stroller or rent. We have 3 1/2 yr old daughter. She is small for her age, she weighs under 30 lbs. She walks alot, but when we go to the mall, we use the car strollers they have there (she loves them). Often times she gets out and walks around. Any thoughts? We were thinking maybe just renting if she wants one, but then we thought about waiting in line to get one and the possibility of them running out.

Just to ease your mind the stroller rental lines are not to bad and they now have "express" lines where you can do it ahead of time and then just grab your stroller at the entrance. I have also never heard of them running out of strollers. I know this was the case years ago but I haven't read or heard of a case in 6+ years.

I like the rental option once your kids are walking more than not because you can just rent once, keep the receipt and your good for the day. From about age 3-4 we went to the rental over the home stroller - ymmv.
