Does anyone know if southwest ever makes internet rates that say unavailable available again? I have flights booked May 27 but would really like to fly down a day early but all flights for May 26 say unavailble for the internet only rates. Just curious if anyone knows how that whole system works, if rates for seats become available based on cancellations, or if they just open up more seats for that price? Thanks!!

Once the "unavailable" shows up, those seats at that price are gone forever. Now, saying that, it doesn't preclude Southwest from offering lower priced sale fares at times. You just have to keep checking. :)

Not to disagree, but actually, internet/promotional fares that show unavailable often show up again, as people cancel flights, or they decide to open up more seats!

I even was able to get a flight home from MCO to MHT the Sunday after Thanksgiving that had been unavailable at anything other than full price for weeks just 3 days prior for the internet only fare!

I have to agree with CRCrazy. We saw this several times while booking our flights for next month.

You guys are great!! You've gave me hope of still getting the flight I want so we can go a day early!!:cool1:

I stand corrected. I have never seen this in my experience. :)

I just got a great rate for our return flight in June. It went from $79 to $54 then showed Unavail for a few weeks.

Then the other day We got a Ding for $49 for that flight I was like well I'm not going to go through the Ding for $15 total ( as I already had to extend the credit for the other drop)but it did open the internet and Promo again. I clicked on the internet and got the flight for $39 so I took that as a $45 credit it will be worth it to get the Luv voucher( I had already booked these with a $400 credit from my earlier trips.)

So yes they do open back up but not all the time.

I also could have switched our flight down to a $39 fare but didn't want to be at the airport for a 6:35 flight. It's going to be hard enough with the 8:something (that has the first 3 catagories unavail) as DD has a Graduation (8thgrade)and party the night before we leave.

I've also seen them open up after showing unavailable for weeks. I think SW must have some sort of timetable they use. Maybe if a certain % of seats haven't sold at the higher fares by x number of weeks before a flight they open up more at the lower fares in order to fill the plane up.....after all, it's better to have a $49 fare rather than none at the higher price. However, if you're flying in less than two weeks I wouldn't bank on it too much. I do remember a few weeks back there were quite a few Ding's for late May. We're flying PHL/MCO on the 20th and when I checked the flight yesterday it does appear there are still quite a few available fares left on our flight.......all higher priced though. Same thing on our return 5/24.

Flights that were originally UNAVAILABLE last year eventually opened back up. We were able to get the later flight home for that tripthat we wanted but couldn't book originally. I think they opened back up about a month or so before our actual trip. HTH Good luck on getting what you want!! :wizard:

I agree that the unavailable flights sometimes change and become available. I think it's all based on how full the flight is.

Let me throw my 2 cents worth in here too. :goodvibes Last Thanksgiving, I had booked flights with times I really didn't like 'cause that was all that was "available" (last minute trip). I got a good price ($79) but I was disapointed with the times. I would check almost every morning before going to work and, low-and-behold, flights that said "un" became "available". I would call and they would make the change. I did this 4 times and by the time of our trip, I had exactly the flights I wanted, both to Florida and our return home. Gotta love SW! :thumbsup2

Just checked my flights again for 9/3 and many that were unavailable are now available. I bet the hold them aside to see how much demand will be and then make for available as time goes on.

Hello JMPELLET:
Based on what you posted, I went back to SW and checked flights.
I was able to ADD a day to our Disney vacation, coming in a day earlier (with the cost being covered by my Disney Visa Rewards card) and CHANGE flights STILL keeping our two free reward flights and REDUCING my childs ticket from 337** (to 288 another savings of $60 with better times!!! YEAH!!! I AM DANCING HERE!!!:cool1:  :cool1:
THANK YOU FOR POSTING!!!
PS: I was even able to get the ADR I wanted!
I LOVE SOUTHWEST< NO FEE'S AND SUCH WONDERFUL CUSTOMER SERVICE!!
:cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2:
**edit: actually I just realized that it was at 357, more money saved :)

Interesting, because the Internet rates for our flights have been UNAVAILABLE since the minute they were released. We're now 14 days away, STILL not available. Really ticks me off too, every time I see that $79 internet rate!! And no dings either. :headache:

You just never know, maybe something will open up for you. I would definitely check each morningand maybe something will show up.
Honestly, I am still paying what I think is too much for my childs ticket, but because the others are free, I am just accepting it for now. (I keep seeing all those 44-59 dollar flights for late June and now early July, but not Aug)
Believe me, I am still checking the SW site and hope some Aug Dings, that have not shown here yet, will pop up.

GOOD LUCK TO YOU!! :wizard:

Boy, I hope my dates/time show back up for the internet rates. The flights I want for a cruise in Oct. (Kansas City to Orlando) were available for one day at the internet rate (and of course I didn't book) then when to unavailable. I've never seen so many flights/fares unavailable this early except for holiday periods.

I know there is no way I'm paying $207 per person each way! I usually only have pay about $125 per person round trip!

I have not seen any ding fares out of Austin or Dallas Love Field since I booked my tickets last year. Is it possible that they may have some soon? We leave June 4th and I have been checking daily. I really hope they come down before we leave.
