Geez, I hope no other neighbors of mine move because all the odd ones are moving in!! (If you were lucky enough to miss my ranting about the new neigbor from this summer, I won't explain that mess again! )

Anyway, new people moved in behind us. I really haven't seen them, but do know they have a dog. Even though the yard is completely fenced in, the dog has a cage on the deck. At first I thought they kepted her in the cage because of all the people coming and going when they were moving in...now I'm not too sure!! I was just outside taking down the laundry when I see the man outside with the dog. He has the dog, on a leash, walking her in the fenced back yard. I'm not a dog person, but still....this seems odd! I try to strike up a conversation with him and say how quiet his dog is (unlike the other neighborhood dogs that bark at their shadows!!). His reply to me is "Yes, she is. SHE minds her own business" and walks away!! :earseek: OK...I can see when I'm not wanted!!! ::yes::

This shows that you are clearly a much nicer person than I am because I probably would have replied, "Well bite me, buckaroo!!":happy1:

You could always get revenge and light a bag of poo on his steps tomorrow night!;)

Well, I am all for meeting people where they are. This guy is obviously in a place where he doesn't want to be bothered, or be neighborly, so I'd say leave him be. If he doesn't bother you, ignore him.

I have a neighbor like that. They started out as pests, complaining about my dog barking at a squirrel for 10 seconds at 2:00 in the afternoon, but I told them off, and they've stayed on their side of the street and I've stayed on mine ever since, and it's been quite lovely.

It's nice if neighbors can be friends, but if not, then I just want them to leave me alone and not make pests of themselves.

Is it a large or medium-large size dog? That might be why they keep her on a leash. But I just don't understand the cage thing. I can't stand the thought of them living in a cage most of the time.

The reason I said that about the dog on the leash is because my dog is probably a med-large dog and she will jump a fence in a heartbeat. She'll just be standing there, then jump, she's over on the other side. Sometimes I wonder if she thinks she's a show horse. ;)

Hopefully he will come around and be nice. He should realize you were just being nice, not nosey.

We'll just hope you don't get any more strange neighbors!!!

The dog is a LARGE German Shepard. Seems to be well tempered but I still find it odd that the dog can't run through the yard. The cage is much too small for the dog! The previous owners actually had a "dog pen" built into the back yard....an area of the back is fenced off with a higher fence (to form a very large penned in area for their dalmation). I just don't see why they don't use that if they don't want to give the dog run of the yard.

I'm not going to let them bug me. Not worth it! His comment just really floored me!
