Hi there!

I have done a search and can see that this topic has been posted many times, but it can't hurt to ask again and hear what everyone has to say, right?

We're planning an impromptu trip to the falls and since its been many years since I've been (try 30 years!) I would love some input from those who live near or have been recently.

I am looking at the new Embassy Suites or the new Doubletree suites as I have some Hilton points to use. I am having trouble telling from the maps if these hotels are out of the way or close to the attractions. Then again, I'm not sure where the things to do are! I can see that the Clifton Hill area looks like something my kids would like and obviously the falls themselves. Are these within walking distance from either of these hotels?

Is it a "walking" town or do you drive and park to see things? All I remember is the Maid of the Mist and some tour where we went behind the falls. I see there is an IMAX now as well as many other things. We will be a group of 2 families with kids ages 2 through 16! We are all pretty easy going and willing to go along with whatever the majority want to do.

Also, how far is Toronto? The older boys are major hockey fans and I see that the Hockey Hall of Fame is in Toronto.

Can't wait to hear any suggestions!

I guess it all depends on how far you like to walk and what all you want to see. If you are coming in the summer I would suggest parking at the parking lot for the People Mover (I think that is what it's called). Then you pay a one day price and ride the bus to all the different attractions. Getting on and off as you please. They also offer package deals that include some of the major attractions. Such as Maid of the Mist, Behind the Falls tour, Gorge tour, Spanish Aerocar, Butterfly museum and others.

Many of the hotels are near the falls area. Be sure to bring a stroller for the 2 year old.

Toronto is about 1 or two hours away. My DH and DS absolutely love the Hockey Hall of fame. It is downtown Toronto. I know there are others here who can give you more information.

Have a great trip!!

The new Doubletree (and I believe the Embassy, as well) are near the new Casino on top of the Escarpment. With a stroller for infants and toddlers, I would think this is within walking distance of the Horseshoe Falls -- although a significant distance from Clifton Hill area. There are a few restaurants in that immediate area -- Tony Roma's, Outback Steakhouse, Denny's (although a rather expensive Denny's). The prices get much better with a short drive westwards on Lundy's Lane.

Budget at least 2 hours to get from Niagara Falls to Toronto. The traffic on the QEW highway is atrocious at the best of times and summer is highway construction season in Ontario.
