Ok, well now I have 2 contract purchases pending... looks like I have taken the plunge,

Still trying to understand some basic things. If today is July 4, when is my 11 month and 7 month period?

At my home resort, I could book for July 4th to July 11th, 2022 as of today?

What are my dates for booking 7 month window at other resorts?

I like to use a DVC availability calendar to kind of see how quickly things change.

Your booking window is based on when you want to next travel. So for example, if you want your next vacation to start 12/1/2022, your 11 mo window will be 1/2/2022 and 7 mo window is 5/1/2022.

It is always exactly 11 months from check in date for home resort, and 7 months for check in date for non home resort. The only exceptions are when you are trying to book a trip starting on the 30th or 31st of a month in which the booking window open in a month without those days.

For example, if you wanted to travel starting May 31st, the booking window is July 1st since there is no June 31st.
