I have been pouring over the various "bag" threads & have found tons of great ideas but we are thinking of taking our Camelbak backpacks for several reasons: ***note, they are the lightweight, single-day packs**

1. Our whole family (plus the extra kiddo we are taking with us already have them). We are all avid hikers & use them quite regularly

2. We all drink a ton of water on a normal basis. We will be staying at Shades of Green & were going to buy several gallon jugs H2O to fill the packs resevoirs with each morning along with some ice from the hotel ice machine.

3. We are from Alaska & we find that whenever we travel to warmer climates (3-4x per year) we drink H2O like crazy. If we each take our own packs, I won't be stuck lugging water bottles for the whole family.:woohoo: We are going the first week of June.

Considering I haven't been to WDW in over 20 years & everyone else in the family are 1st timers, I need your honest advice. Will our packs be a reasonable option? Will be able to ride with them? Has anyone else used these bags with success?? Help!!!:)

i think its a great idea!! we are thinking of taking my husbands with us in may.. i haven't been to disney in a few years but i don't think you'll have a problem on the rides if they aren't HUGE.. if you have to take them off you can hook them around your leg or turn them around to the front.. or slide off of one shoulder so it's more like a purse LOL!!! (for on the ride i mean) i'm surprised more haven't posted about using theirs.. I'm sure they are a popular choice...:confused3

anyway i would totally go for it:thumbsup2

I saw a few of them while I was there last week. I've never used one personally but I'd say if you're used to them it'd be fine, so long as there was a way to seal them up on rides.

Thanks so much for the replies. While we are in Orlando, we are also going to IOA to do the WWOHP for one day.....I know we can NOT take our packs on rides there (& will plan accordingly) but I was hoping we could take them on rides at the Disney parks. They do zip up completely so that won't be a problem and we are also very accustomed to wearing them.....10-12 hours mountain &/or glacier hikes are the norm for us. My dh volunteered to just wear one regular backpack with H2O bottles for all of us. While that was really sweet of him, my kids are used to schleping their own water & gear so why not at WDW??:)

We have a Camelbak that is also a small backpack and we LOVE it! My DH dehydrates very quickly and we use the ice from the resort and fill ours up with Gatorade, and it stays cold all day.:cool1: Having the backpack also is nice as it is a good place to store your camera, raincoat, etc. We have never had a problem with it on rides.
