This last morning we let the kids swim one more time after breakfast(except Ryan
) I finished packing, it was hard putting everything back together and you would think since we were driving this would be ok, but its not with 6 people in a Ford expedition(and we have a luggage carrier) there is not too much space for extras after pillows, blankets and backpacks to keep the kids happy. I had a whole suitcase and 1/2 of just dirty clothes,I did do laundry on the wednesday before thanksgiving but I hate to do this chore on vacation so I just bring it home!
We left the hotel at about 12:30 and made it home to our house by 8 a.m. wednesday morning. The kids basically slept the whole night in the truck we only stopped for food, bathroom and gas breaks.
Overall driving wasn't too bad but of course you are not as excited coming home as you are leaving--WE all cheered when we entered Florida--no one cheered when we entered back into new york
I thought I wouldn't forget what we did each day but when I really had to rack my brain for these trip reports--next time I will try to take a few notes at the end of the day.
And in the end, are we glad we went? the answer is a BIG yes. With everyone asking us constantly are you still going or I wouldn't want to be away at this time, I feel it worked out for us. Although deciding to drive made us alot more comfortable about going. This option might not work for everyone but it did for us. And Doug did get a new job which he starts on Dec 3 and Ryans arm is healing very nicely, he had an x-ray done when we came back and his cast is scheduled to come off on Dec 17
Just to watch the kids and their enjoyment was worth going to me!!
The early closing of the parks did not deter us at all we just worked around them, like parking at Epcot and monorailing it to magic kingdom.
The weather was great--usually when we go during easter it can get hot.
Like I said before, the crowds were the heaviest around thanksgiving but they were not bad if like us you go at easter.
That's about it, thanks to everyone who stuck with me this far and for your nice words.
And if you are debating going--Just GO you will be glad in the end you did!!
