Accorfing to the Dis Cruise news.........

"You can wrap yourself in an oversized bath sheet once the current towels are phased out and replaced. All linens, towels and bed pillows are being upgraded."

But this on the other hand get s a LOUD BOOOOO from me!!!!!!

"Diversions is now allowing smoking throughout the day in the bar area of the club. The exception to this policy will be when there are children’s programs scheduled in this area. "

yea just what we really needed..... MORE smoking areas on the ship!! UGGGG

I'm with you. I don't want to go in there during the day and smell like smoke when I go to do something else. I guess I will have to go back to the room, shower, do my hair, then call mousekeeping to come in to give me more towels all because they think people who smoke shouldn't have to go outside where it can blow into the air and not make anyone smell or get sick. Oh well, I never said Disney was perfect.:guilty: :sad2:

No matter where people smoke, there will be people nearby to complain about it.

I just read on another thread that Diversions is supposedly open to all ages all day until 9:00 PM. Does that mean there is no smoking until 9PM?
On the other point--I am excited about the new towels.

No offense meant to the smoker, but I hope the above is true, it'll be the only time I'll be visiting the new club. I've been on 5 cruises, and have visited the clubs only twice. Sorry, can't stand the level of secondhand smoke in there. I'm on vacation and painfully irritated eyes and sneezing my head off isn't my idea of a good time. I really wish they'd keep at least one of the venues non smoking.

The lingering smoke really bothers my allergies and in 7 Magic/Wonder cruises I have never been to any of the evening venues. I like the RCCL policy of smoking and non smoking lounges.

DH and I both smoke and I am a little concerned about this new policy. I don't think that smoking should be allowed in the lounges until after 9pm. That way it can insure that the childrens group activities are affected. Even then I believe that they should create smoking and non smoking areas in all clubs or lounges that smoking is currently allowed. We both find it hard to smoke inside and would rather not. Smoking really isn't a nice thing to do but we are smokers so please be nice and not turn this in to a debate.

Re: ericamanda01 -- thanks for a great and upfront comment.

I am terribly allergic to smoke, and wish that Disney would just pick a place where people can smoke, and NOT have kids' activities in that lounge. I can't even walk into one of the bars/lounges that allow smoking, even hours after people have smoked there.

I also understand that smoking outside on deck isn't always feasible; so why not have a designated smokers' lounge that ONLY has adult activities?

We went to the 'future cruise' presentation in Diversions, and there were people smoking in there. DH almost wouldn't stay, but I found us a seat sort of away from it.

We were both excited about the new coffee house (Cove Cafe) until we found that is was a smokers hang out. We never did go to it after walking by the cloud of smoke in front of it.

Send a message, call, or write Disney to express your displeasure with the new smoking policy.

Unfortunately, businesses (Disney included) are following the example of the federal government. Tabacco is just too profitable an industry to ban it. Whatever brings revenue...who cares about the health of our nation?

Darn those pesky people who complain about second-hand smoke...how dare they infringe on smokers' rights to light up and enjoy themselves?!?!?! All because they feel like they have the right to breathe?!?!?! sheesh!!! Some people!

Sorry, just having a bad day and needed to vent...and this is a really touchy issue for me...But seriously, I've only been on one cruise, and I didn't make it to the clubs at night. I'm going again next year, and it looks like I still won't be making it to the night clubs. It's a shame that Disney doesn't see the need to provide nighttime entertainment options to everyone...But like I said before...until laws change, it's all about what brings revenue...

EDIT: Oh, and the letter thing...I've written several, and have gotten the same cookie cutter response. To sum it up, they are just looking at the bottom line.

Oh great, here I was looking forward to the Cove Cafe. I did not think that it would be a smoking haven.  Oh well what can you do I guess???

You can contact Disney to ask them to re-examine their policy.

I was in the Cove Cafe a few times during the day, and no one was smoking inside. I also don't recall any smell of smoke in there, at least not by the computers.

Just as an FYI, this was the LEAST smoky cruise I have ever been on; we were overjoyed. I only had one very allergic incident on Costa Maya. There was far less smoke on the Magic this time around than there was when we sailed on the Wonder OR than there is at WDW.

I have to admit, as a smoker, I don't mind the club having smoking all the time. But I do generally try to be polite about it (ask if anyone minds, etc). I don't have kids either, so I know that enters into it. But I know I'll be polite and keep my cigar smoking to the veranda.

:(
In years past I would not have been bothered by smokers, but after developing adult onset asthma a little over a year ago I now see things quite differently.

Being around second hand smoke can cause myself and many others like me to have a flare that can range from mild coughing, and/or wheezing to being hospitalized, and in some rare instances it can cause death.

Yes it's your right to smoke, but should your right take away mine? A never ending debate for sure.

I thought the coffee place allowed smoking outside but not inside?!?!

I hope that is true, if it is we will give it a try. Last month on the Magic when we walked over to it there was such a cloud of smoke outside that we just kept walking (assuming that since it was an all 'adult' area that probably meant smoking and decided we would rather go to the kids pool).

I was surprised that they were allowing smoking by the Goofy pool. I had thought that would have to stay at the adult pool. I guess since it was open air they consider it alright. This was the first cruise I have seen smoking around the Family pool.

I'm surprised that with all the rest of the Magic and Wonder being "state of the art" that Disney doesn't have state of the art a/c units in the smoking areas.

I'm not a smoker, but my best friend is. I want to be with her, so I will sit on her patio while she smokes. However, I do not let me children near smokers.

I was in this bar a long long long time ago. It had this refrigerator size a/c unit that sucked up all the smoke, like one of those ionic breeze thingys but much bigger. I was really impressed with how clear the air in the bar was.

I'm surprised that Disney doesn't have these on the cruise ships.
