I have been reading many many threads about good and bad comments about the FP+ system. A thought just occurred to me. It seems that many are going with the idea of late FP times and trying to hit headliners at or near rope drop. If this is the case, I would guess that the FP lines would be very busy during this time. I know that they have a scheduled return time window. It just seems like the major thought is to do standby early and FP late. How would Disney get the guests to spread out the FP times?
:confused3

I think they only let a certain amt of people book at like 10am. Like only 100 at 10:00. I think that's how they do it. But who knows with them.

I imagine there are a large number of guests who will just take the FP+ times that Disney suggests to them.

So long as that is the case it's relatively easy for Disney to spread things around.

I assume each FP+ time slot have limited availability / can be tuned for how many FP+ reservations are allowed. If indeed everyone is reserving later times, then those times should fill up and won't be available.

A speculative future idea to manage the lines would be to offer some kind of incentive tied to FP+ time slots -- book this earlier slot and we'll give you an extra FP+ reservation. Book this one and get a pin. With this new system I'd imagine they could do all sorts of things.

Interesting thought. I miss the simple days. The harder it gets, the less like a vacation it seems...

That might be where some of those bonus FP+ came from, although I haven't heard about them for awhile.
I think the unintiated just takes what pops up. They have no idea what to expect, they might take the FP for 5 minutes after the park opens. I haven't done it yet, but I know you get preloaded and then have to change - if you don't know better, you won't know to change it.

You also have to realize that many people leave the parks very early. Some people with young kids maintain their normal bedtimes for example and others cook meals back at their rooms and others spend most of their time at the pool and only head to the parks for 2 hours a day around midday (like friends of ours, we can't understand it) and still others get there at rope drop and head back home at a decent hour to be able to get up at the crack of dawn the next day to do it again. I think it is common on here to assume we are the normal visitor, but we really aren't. Dis-ers are a crazy bunch! :rotfl:

I think that remark resembles me... :lmao:

Are people just showing up for the day still able to use the old traditional fastpass? I havent been to the parks in a couple years and feel out of the loop.

There is no more traditional fastpass. You can book 3 FP+ once you enter the park, but only 3 total, no duplicates, and all in one park.

I guess I will feel like a newbie when I head over there in February. Ill reserve judgement but we had the old system down pretty well.

Hehe that picture made me laugh.

I've booked some FP's for my upcoming trip and some are early. I then can either take a break, come back or go to another park the rest of the day.

Finally I'll get to go on Toy Story Mania without being stressed about it. I've missed it on a couple trips because I'm not a RD person and I don't want to wait 70+ minutes for it. :) SO now I have two different days to go on it so I'm happy.

This is the beauty of FP+, no more running around for FP's. I agree I don't like the tiering of rides but I do enjoy getting up when I want and knowing my FP's are waiting for me.

I've done the running back and forth across a park to get a paper FP just so I can turn around and run back to the other end of the park to get on a ride then run to the other end of the park to get on another ride. It was exhausting....

Could this mean the end of rd crazies?!:lmao:

We (actually me) did all the bouncing around in the morning collecting the FPs. We just saved them all day, then used them in the evening. This was during the period when the return times were not enforced. It did make for some running around in the morning but the afternoon/evening was laid back.

I actually think it is going to increase the RD crazies. I think more people will shoot for the RD so they can ride multiple times by later using their FP+ reservations.

This may make the middle part of the day the BEST time... :rotfl2:

I never had to run. I'd just wait for an unsuspecting little kid to walk by with several FP's and I'd grab them.

Seriously, I never had to run. We would just sort of tour the park, walking around, if the standby line was short we'd get in and collect some FP's for later on the way out; if the SB line was long we'd just go ahead and grab some FP's.

But we were never stationary in a park anyway, we were always walking somewhere. FP's were something we collected along they way, they weren't really a destination.

Unless we're talking TSM, of course, but that was and is "mania" no matter when or how you look at it.
