We have a lot of great theme parks in Ohio too. Cedar Fair has been re-investing a lot of money into all areas of their parks...at least the ones in Ohio. Kings Island and Cedar Point just changed their Halloween Haunt to a food festival and combined it with the kiddie activities.

Dollywood is also building their second resort hotel after several years of large expansions within the park.

There are a lot of great now-comparable options available locally for a fraction of the price.

No offense - we stayed 4 nights at DreamMore and loved it and we love Dollywood, plan to go back - but in no way is it comparable to a vacation at WDW.

Air travel is significantly down. The reason why flights are packed is that airlines are condensing their flight schedules. I had the earliest flight out for my November trip, woke this morning to see that flight canceled and I'm moved to the next flight out about an hour later.

I agree that WDW could be doing more. I don't love that remodels are taking priority over entertainment and that the benefits of staying on property are diminishing rapidly. I think WDW is shooting themselves in the foot with that- I don't care how nice the Poly looks, people will make WDW just a small part of an Orlando trip and Universal and other Orlando businesses will start getting some our money rather our trips being WDW-only vacation. I think WDW is vastly underestimating those of us that love the nostalgia of Disney that is delivered by live performers.

Exactly. We had early Sep. flights cancelled and rebooked to later flights 3 times before we finally said forget it.

MCO traffic is still down more than 50% this month vs last Sep. The only reason planes seem packed is because there are far less flights.

I thought the same reading that. I frequent the local parks that were mentioned (was at King's Island last weekend) and while I have a good time at them... they're much closer to Busch Gardens than WDW.

Also, if you don't like roller coasters the local parks are pretty much worthless.

I have to agree. Cedar Fair parks are amusement parks, not theme parks. Cedar Fair is ride focused, whereas Disney and Universal are atmosphere focused. If you want roller coasters, then you can have some fun, but if you do not or you have kids too small, you might enjoy a few hours.

When I was younger, I could spend all day at Kings Island a few times a year and have a blast. Now, I spend 3-4 hours and I am ready to leave.

When we lived in Michigan, we LOVED going to Cedar Point and Kings Island a couple of times during the summer.
