Yes, in a court of law. This isn't a court of law. Citing "innocent until proven guilty" in this situation is akin to people citing the First Amendment when they're fired from their job for something they post on social media. It's completely irrelevant.

Bull. As a human I try to not automatically assume every bad thing said about another human is true. It is not just the law of the land, but something we should all do. Not jump to agreement with everything bad said.

Michelle Scribner MacLean is a co-host on the mickey Miles and more podcast. She posted this on her personal Facebook page and twitter. So far this is the only accusation I have seen. If it is true I would hope Disney would take the appropriate action. If not, I’m not sure what to think of the post. We need to be careful at where this thread goes.

This is obviously a very serious situation and should be treated as such - and if anything good is coming out of the recent acqusations (and admittance of guilt - some more than others) of various celebrities it is giving women more courage to come forward

@jdisnut I am fully supportive of what you are saying though perhaps instead of "believe" (which goes right to the innocent vs guilty) I would say "respect women", respect them to take their accusations seriously and to not rush to defend the acqused thinking they made it up or anything. I don't know what is the exact right response to "take it seriously" and I also suspect Disney has more facts that new do (why I always am hesitant to come down on one side or another when I am a thousand miles away and wasn't there) but I think something like your idea of suspension with pay would make sense. The last thing Disney (or we as a society) would want to happen to to do nothing and then find out it was true and during the investigation he commuted more crimes

Unproven allegations do not mean Bob Jackson is guilty. They should, however, spark a serious, third-party investigation into his behavior, especially considering multiple victims have now emerged.

These brave women coming forward have no incentive to do so. There is no benefit to them. To the contrary: They are leaving themselves vulnerable and opening themselves up to scrutiny and criticism.

There is a reason that women are often so afraid to come forward with accusations of sexual assault and harassment. Believe women. Always believe women. To not believe their stories isn't just misogynistic -- it's antihuman.

Although in this case (and no doubt many others) there potentially is a cash benefit if Disney are offering money to make it go away. Now, I know that the person (if it's true) in this instance was not interested in the money and ripped the check up, but I'm sure others will come forward who are interested in the money. Sadly, this (in general not just this instance) has the potential to become the next compensation avenue, with small time law firms cold calling and asking people if they have ever been sexually harassed or whatever - this sadly ends up tarring the genuine cases.

Yes, absolutely, but let's also be aware that an accusation on Facebook and Twitter is very much a public domain one - and one that can, and has been, shared / retweeted (including by people with large followings such as Mike) to ensure that it does become common knowledge, especially within the Disney fan community which is where Bob's good reputation has been built up.

And this is how one Facebook post will most likely become instant mob justice, and the internet becomes judge, jury and executioner. And all of this regardless of any actual facts or proof other than the fact the Michelle and Mike are both respected members of the Disney community (and ones who I happen to trust by the way). I just worry that without due process this could have been a horrible misunderstanding that has just escalated.

I suspect Disney P.R. will act very quickly in purely damage-limitation mode though, and would not be surprised if Bob was not even on stage for his next scheduled performance on Wednesday.

Believe women. That's all I have to say. The amount of people on Facebook and Twitter rushing to defend Mr. Jackson out of blind loyalty and discredit the alleged victims is sickening.

Women are capable of lying or altering facts just as easily as men. Is this the case in the situation? Have no idea at all. Blind loyalty goes both ways here--blind loyalty towards women on the basis of their gender and blind loyalty toward a performer at WDW. I cannot imagine someone should actively look towards someone and say "oh you're a woman therefore I believe you and you're a man therefore I shouldn't believe you".

While not sexual in nature about a year ago one of the basketball players from my alma mater was accused by a woman for battery charges. After charging him and then looking further into surveillance videos they dismissed the charges.....and actually charged the woman for battery as it was clearly shown she was the one physically assualting the basketball player.

Situations should be looked at on a case by case truly.

No, giving women, or anyone a silver bullet of that type is extremely dangerous.

In rare cases there have been women that have lied about being sexually assaulted at the expense of innocent men. Our justice system is designed to work through such issues.

I have no idea about the truthfulness of the accusations against Jackson, but what you refer to is not "rare" (though I wouldn't say that it's "common"). Depending on the study, the rates of false accusations of sexual assaults is believed to be between 2% and 8%. That's WAY too high to give an accuser an automatic pass.

It's been said that even negative publicity is good publicity. I don't follow bloggers but don't they get paid per hit sometimes?

My problem with the accusation is she says she has a picture of said assult, yet refuses to post it because “It hurts too bad to see it.” That’s her right. It’s also my right to not believe her because of it.

Anyway, I don't think she's doing this with malicious intent, though I honestly don't know a thing about her, have never read her blog, or the others that have been mentioned. So I can't fathom that click bait has anything to do with it.

I do wonder if the entire incident was misinterpreted though. Not to discount that she was bothered by it but being bothered by something doesn't automatically mean it was assault. Or does it?

I'm reminded of a question posed of "what is porn?" and the answer is often "I know when I see it" which usually means to one person it's porn but to another it's not, it's just a naked photo. Could this be a case of to her it was sexual assault but to someone else it would have just been a harmless, inadvertent brush against a butt.

Perhaps the alleged victims are lying. Maybe multiple women are all independently making up a story. But considering the online reactions to their posts, considering how much hate and vitriol they have received for daring to come forward, I cannot fathom what would possess anybody to do so. It has only caused them grief and distress.

Moreover: This isn't a court of law. Should Bob Jackson be arrested and charged with a crime, he will be held to the standard of innocent until proven guilty. This is a fundamental tenet of he U.S. legal system, and I believe it in strongly.

But in a country where women are still subjugated, are still the subjects of intense misogyny and sexism daily, are still the victims of sexual assault and harassment with disgusting frequency, their stories must be taken extremely seriously. Jackson should not perform another show on Walt Disney World property until this matter is settled, whether that ends with him being exonerated or terminated from his position altogether.

I really don't know what she personally would gain from it nor do I know why she would make it up. I really don't know on this exact situation--It's a sensitive subject as is. But people do sometimes do have false accusations (I'm not saying that's the case here just speaking generally here).

Like I mentioned in a previous comment about the basketball player. There was also very recently at a University where a student actually spray painted hate speech graffiti on their own car. The FBI actually got involved (as they were taking the allegations of racism and hate speech very seriously) and it wasn't until then that the student admitted he did that to his own car as a prank (who does that as a prank??). Too late..of course. Plus as is a lot of people are upset because the police department is refusing to charge the student despite the fact that he wasted resources (time and money), and caused furor over false information--I think hate speech is a very serious matter as well. The police department says: “While {removed student's name} mistake had a decidedly negative impact on the community, please recognize that he, like many of us when we were young, is a young man who made a mistake and is now doing his best to own up to it.” In this case the student apologized I suppose enough that they decided not to charge him and he's young so there's that .

If I were to look into the motives of the above I suppose I could say the girl with the basketball player was coming at it from the standpoint that he's a basketball player and in the case of the hate speech I could only surmise attention? perhaps because racism is something that gets people's attention (as it should when it occurs).
