Thanks Damo, missed the announcement, forgot it was today. Gonna go try and find it :)

I can't wait to see the parade and new BMG... oh and the enhancements to Spidey sound great too!

YAY!!!

Sooooo....when they say "Summer", what does that mean? Any idea on what month it'll actually open? :confused3

We are going at the beginning of June and my daughters would LOVE this ride!!!

Soft openings might be going on by June.

I'm especially excited about the new Spiderman attraction updates, the Despicable Me attraction & the night-time show. But i've read on other forums that the night-time show is only going to be temporary, throughout the summer & on selected nights until the end of the year?! Can anyone confirm whether it is only going to be temporary or long term? :)

Thanks for posting this, it makes me that much more excited about our August trip!

Seems they are putting a lot of effort and money into it. I don't think it is temporary. They will probably continue to change it up.

I'm rooting for early summer too...we are going in July

The night show looks really cool...not crazy about a daily parade but I guess it's OK. I'm surprised nothing is being done in the IOA lake. Everything else looks to be a great addition to both parks.

Shows and parades aren't really why I go to Universal or Disney. Don't get me wrong, I enjoy some of them... but I'd much rather spend more time on rides and exploring well-themed lands rather than watching a parade.

I am the same way. However, there seem to be a lot of inquiries here about parades and night time shows, so I think it is a good thing. It makes the experience more rounded and more of an all day event, I guess.

It all looks good.

Another not fussed on parades, but the night shows look amazing. I`m looking forward to that.

I think the night time show sounds amazing. Hoping to see the new stuff on either of our trips is May and October!

One of the main reasons why Universal never had nightly shows was because they were really limited on the use of fireworks. I think Universal saw how successful a nighttime water show could be because of World of Color at Disneyland.

With the amount of time, effort, and money being invested into this project, I do not see this being a temp. show. While I don't except a "World of Color" type experience, I am hoping for a big production. I want it to be more like World of Color than simply a "Universal 360" type show but instead of big globes for the projections they now use water.

Anyways, I doubt this show will feature any type of firework, and if it does, it might be a summer only event. However, I can see this show all year long. During the summer, it should run every night. Once the summer is over, it might become a weekend only show with special showings for holidays and stuff. Universal is hopefully making the show so that it can be easily changed as well. Maybe they will create a special version for HHN or the holidays. I am really looking forward to seeing what Universal creates here, and I might have to make a special trip out to see everything.

Ok, I'm now SURE we will buy a 14 day pass for IOA and Universal !!!

Wasnt going to go to the parks, as my DD was so upset with Jaws going.

The parade and Night show sounds fab... plus new ride and an updated Spider man :worship:

Bring on August !!!!

Yup, the plan is to have it run all summer and then select nights throughout the rest of the year. I guess depending on how popular it is will determine how much more often we see it.

I'm really hoping it's going to be more long-term, but i just found this:

"Narrated by award-winning actor and recent Golden Globe - Cecil B. DeMille honoree, Morgan Freeman, Universal Orlando’s brand-new nighttime show, Universal’s Cinematic Spectacular, will celebrate the most powerful and emotional moments from Universal Pictures’ most iconic films – all on cutting-edge waterfall screens within the Universal Studios lagoon and surrounded by colorful fountains and pyrotechnics. The experience will take guests on a journey through epic cinematic moments filled with heroes, horror, laughter, good vs. evil and triumph. The new show opens this spring, runs all summer and then on select nights through the end of the year."

Kind of says that the show won't be continuing into next year? That's a shame as i won't be going until Aug 2013. :( But who knows, if it is very popular then they might continue it after this year.

It just says that this particular show will be running at least all year. Since it is most likely a 100 year anniversary show, it makes sense to do a new version next year. It would get boring just to have the same show year after year.

I'm slightly confused about something on the Universal page in question. It says Spider-Man is reopening in March, but I thought the refurbs were happening after hours. Has this changed? Just curious! :)
