YEAH it finally happened!!!! Now WHAT???

Hey guys. I wrote a few months ago about the trials of trying to get pregnant. My hubby and I were also considering adoption. I got alot of good advice, made some friends, and even got some flames . Well, we just found out we are pregnant with number two . I am around 4 - 5 weeks, so it is very early. I am so excited, but now I have tons of questions....

My dd is 4, and will be 5 when baby gets here. Will I have a hard time getting them to bond --- age difference.

MY very top of the list concern is our Disney trip in next month. What in the world am I going to do? I will be around 10 weeks. Do you think I will be able to do Soar'n and Star Tours? I know I am lame, but those are my two favorite rides. I know we wont be back to Disney for a few years with a new baby and all, so I want to ride my favorites!!! Not a coster or mountain fan... So, those two rides are as fast as it gets for me. Of course we like Dumbo, and all of the kiddie rides! Also, would it be possible to try Test Track?? I know I need to speak to my OB, but I want actual pregnant women imput. You know---the ones who have been there done that!!!

Also, I am not much of an exercise nut. I hate it. So, will I hurt the baby walking so much??? You know you walk a ton at Disney. It has never bothered me before, but this time I will be pregnant.

***********Also how cool is it that I get to have the dinning plan and not feel like a pig!!!! I get to eat because baby is hungry~~~

Congratulations!!!

Your kids will bond great! My oldest son was 4 when my youngest son was born and they were fine. I also have friends who had three kids with 5 years between each one and they're close.

Now that we adopted our little girl, there is 13 years between our youngest boy and our little girl. Even they're bonding well. It will all work out.


Would you please PM me about some of your custom clothes? I'd love to have something for my little one. I'm in no rush but I would love to run some ideas by you.

My Dd's are 5 years apart and they are great friends. (don't get me wrong...they do have thier moments! haha!) I don't think it's recommended but when I was pregnant with DD#1 I went tubing, dune bugging, rode waterslides. I'm sure Soarin would be fine but Star tours is a bit jumpy....may not be such a good idea!

We went to a Special Opening event for DCA when I was 8 months pregnant with my DD. I stood in line for Soarin', but I was a little nervous that I would get booted out. I was visibly pregnant, and the CM's didn't even bat an eye at me. I had to wear the seat restraint under my belly. It was a great experience (nice to get off my feet too after all the walking!).

Enjoy your time at WDW and there are a lot of things for a pregger to do and see !

thats great!! we had a hard time, we had to do insemination. taking medication, shots, spending lots of money but we became pregnant w/ twin girls. was worth the long road. good luck!!

My friend just went on Soarin this weekend and she is 35 weeks pregnant. It is fine as long as you wont' get sick from the motion. Not sure about Star Tours as I dont' ride it!

You'll be fine on Soarin' but you might want to ask your OB about Star Tours - it might be a bit jerky and uncomfortable for you. I can't think why the extra walking would be a problem - they tell you to do gentle exercises during pregnancy, don't they? I don't think the walking will affect your pregnancy, but if you find yourself wearing down, either take more frequent rests or get a wheelchair or an ECV for a day as a breather.

Congratulations!

I went when I was 12 weeks pregnant and found that it didn't really impact my trip too much, except that I got tired more easily. I would avoid Star Tours, but Soarin should be fine.

I tried to build more rest periods into the day than I normally would. For example, I spent some time just relaxing in the rocking chairs by Tony's in the MK. But, overall, walking is one of the best things that you can do when pregnant and you shouldn't worry about it.

Just relax, listen to your body, and don't push it and you (and the baby) will do just fine.

We just got back last week and I am currently pregnant with our 4th bundle of joy! I am abut 9 weeks now so I was around 7-8 weeks on the trip. I asked my OB and they told me no bumpy rides. No roller coasters etc. I would not do test track and definetly not Star Tours. I love that ride but it's too bumpy. I did do Soarin' with no problem though. It's a smooth ride. I am also not the most athletic person and I just took a slow pace and did great. Although nothing is really slow when you ahve a 4.5 year old, an almost 3 year old, and a 14month old! I think you'll have a great time and the weather will be nice and cool. Congratulations!!!

Your kids will be fine. I have 4 kids, boy, girl, boy, girl. The boys are 3 months shy of 5 years apart and the girls are 3 years and 3 months apart. Do they fight? Yes. But they also play very well together.

I would stay away from Star Tours and the Test Track. Both are bumpy. And like another poster said, I don't think Soarin' will be a problem unless you find yourself getting sick from motion.

Congrats!!! Don't worry about the age difference at all. It took us over 3 yrs to get pregnant with #2, and they are 6 years apart. By the time DS was born, DD had her "own life and routine" and she was at school during the day while I had alone time with baby. The the afternoons she had her activities and DS came along. Her life wasn't affected much, only more fun as she acts like a little mom to him. Even now when he is 2 and getting into her things, I make sure they have times when she can play with her things without him interrupting.

SIL has two bour 18 month apart and she has more trouble with them. This isn't always the case of course, but they are often competing with each other and have a hard time playing together. Also having a boy and a girl helps as they are not compared to each other and have different interests. This has been my experience and I know each family and their dynamics are so different. Siblings will have days when they love each other and can't stand each other no matter what the age difference.

My DDs are 4 years, 9 months apart. Now, they are 6 (almost 7) and 2, and they play together. They will go into one of their bedrooms and play for a while. If they are in my older DD's room, eventually she kicks out my younger DD. They seem fine. At this age, they have some common interests. They will both watch Mickey Mouse Clubhouse together. My 6 yo reads to my 2 yo - that is really nice and they enjoy each other. Plus, my 6 year old is always on the alert ("mom, she has a penny in her mouth", "mom, she's playing in the sink", "mom, she's has the sunscreen", etc.). She has been very helpful!

When I was pregnant with my second DD, it was nice that my first understood "mommy is tired and needs to lie down. Why don't you watch some Wiggles?" It was also nice when my second was a newborn and my first would go get diapers, etc. for me in those first newborn days when I was so tired.

So many people seem to have kids approx. 2 years apart, but there are benefits to a wider age range. It isn't all bad!

FWIW, I'm less than 3 years from my younger sister, and we are not close. I have friend that has a younger sister that is 6 years younger, and they are very close. Who knows.

Just wanted to say CONGRATS! I only have one myself, but my younger brother and I are 4 years apart and now that we are all grown up we are still close friends and always have been. I think it is a fine age difference between siblings. Hope you have a happy & healthy & morning-sickiness-free pregnancy!

We went in Feb and I was 12 weeks, we did soarin but TT ans ST were a no. I found I had to go back to our room everyday and have a nap. I also was ok with all the walking but occasionally my pelvis would ache a bit. A little stretching and I was fine. Congratulations!!

Congratulations! I was actually wondering what you decided as far as adoption and now your pregnant, what wonderful news! My kids are just over 4 years apart and I was so worried about DD6 (4 at the time) would be with a new baby in the house taking her attention. DD and I were inseperable before DS came along. Well she fell madly in love with the baby as soon as she saw him. She couldn't wiat until he came home from the hospital and she actually help me quite a bit too. Just small stuff like bringing me diapers or wipes or a pacifier. She was sooo thrilled with DS, I had no clue she would feel this way. Now they fight a bit these days, but they are very close and love each so much. I'm sure your DD will be fine and very happy to have a sibling. I honestly thought I only wanted one child because it's easier but DD was a bit lonely I guess. They play together alot ans she watches out for him too like some others have said.

As far as rides there are alot of smooth rides you can go on especially in MK. Soarin is fine but I would not risk Star Tours because it's a rough ride, as well as the obvious coasters. You can still have a wonderful vacation and there are so many things you can do and shows to see. As far as exercise just take it slow at first. I couldn't exerecise with my kids because I was on bedrest. but it is easier to lose the baby weight aftet if you exercise a bit. Have a wonderful vacation!!

Hey that is wonderful! Congratulations on #2!! I don't think there would be a bonding issue at all! I think #1 is a perfect age for being a big helper to you! IMO, I wouldn't do Star Tours. I think that Soarn' would be just fine and the walking would be fine too. I haven't been when I was early pg so no real help there, but I have been at 35wks and walked the whole time and no problems. Many wishes for a magical trip!
