I checked online today, and I have 493 VISA bucks!

I'd really like to do a trip to WDW at Christmas some day, and I'm thinking now it could happen in 2005!!! (if the school vacation thing works out)

We can exchange our timeshare, so lodging is settled.

Between leftover days on passes (we "got" a day back from Disney when we went to Magic Kingom on August 13, because the park closed at 2 because of hurricane Charley) and me buying 2 passes from Hotwire, I have 4 days of park entry.

At the rate I'm going, my VISA bucks could cover all our expenses there.

I'd only need airfare and car rental!

I "earned" the 493 dollars in 18 months.......I'm sure I could add another 200 or 300 in another 14 months.

It's probably wishful thinking.....but it could happen!

Hi Julia,

You probably already know this, but the best timeshares for Christmas week in Orlando go very early. It would be good to start looking a year out if that's possible.

I had no trouble getting week 51 from II to match the week 52 I own, but my neighbors decided fairly late that they wanted to go for the holiday and there is not much available.

We'll be there this year from 12/18 to 1/1/05. I've been for New Years before, but never Christmas. I'm looking forward to it.

Wow, I'm jealous. I only have $48 - and $25 of that is the free offer for signing up (I missed out on the $50 offer :( ). Still it's "free" money so I'll keep working on using the DV to pay any existing bills I can to keep the Disney Rewards coming.

would you have to make to get $493? $49,000? or was that on double points?

seems like alot unless there was a really big purchase(like a car?)

I charge everything and never come close to that much.

I am up to 700, I can't believe it. My husband and I will be going the first week in December and we have enough bucks for practically everything. All this with never having to pay any interest. What a deal!!!!!!!!!
Can't wait.

I have been a member since day 1 and have never received any special offers for double points, etc. I will be going to WDW at the beginning of November and so far have 257 points! Have also been saving change for a few months and cashed that ib - $158.50!! Over $415 in "found" money!! I think it is a great way to save for Disney (but only if you can pay off your bill at the end of the month and not accrue finance charges.)

I saw someone ask how you could accrue that much. I have almost $400 and am thrilled. I use mine for work mostly....a $3700 ice maker is $37 disney reward dollars. $500 in thank you gifts is $5....it adds up quickly. And I use it for as much as I possibly can.

Julia,

You've done a great job ! I'm a little envious. My wife and I just received our Disney Visa's a couple of weeks ago. We were using Discover for their cash back but decided to go with Disney since Visa is accepted more places (that and the fact that we love WDW)

I travel occassionally for work and hope to use the Disney card as much as possible.

I'm like the rest of the folks on this thread...... I can't wait to be at WDW using my rewards no matter what the amount :earsboy:

I generally average at least $1500-$1700 on my VISA. I charge everything I can, including gas, groceries, clothes, movies, etc.

I have three kids, so there are lots of things to charge!

Plus, it always seems like we have a big (or extra) items every month or so.

For example, my dd and I attended National for baton. We had a hotel room for 5 nights, but I also booked and paid for 2 other people's room. I also paid for their airfare. (They reimbursed me)

I never expected to have this many dollars, but it happened somehow!

Sadly, I have never received double awards, or a sign up bonus. These dollars were all based on my actual spending.

I have found that by using my Disney VISA for virtually everything the reward $$ add up quickly. I pay for everything possible with my Disney Visa and just pay it off ASAP.

I pay for all groceries, gas, shopping, utilities, satelite tv, car & life insurance, alarm system, DD trumpet rental, cell phone, home phone, travel, etc... with the Disney Visa. I use my Disney Visa for everything possible. I have free online banking so I send them a payment every week. If I spent $350 that week, I send a $350 payment.

If you are only using it for groceries, gas and trips to the mall, it takes longer. I use it for almost all of our monthly expenses. I only use cash or check to pay when that is my only option.

As others have mentioned, I use it for others too. When we go out to dinner with friends, I put the whole tab on my card and everyone else pays me their share. If we go on a trip with family I book all the hotel rooms, airline tickets on my card and everyone reimburses me. It's easy for me to do, since I don't carry a balance I always have plenty of available credit.

I agree, as long as everyone reimburses you it really adds up.
My sister just went on a trip abd needed my card and just gave me a money order for almost $800.00. That's 8 points right there. I'm at 491 right now and we're going the first week in December.

I have never been one to use a credit card all that much but I have been converted. Between all the new swipe machines at the check outs (I never liked handing my card over to strangers who disappear with it for a time) and double points on everything over $150 (yes, I know I am lucky) I am a convert. I have quite a balance already and am thinking that I may be able to buy at least one AP for our 2005 trip. I always pay my balance off in full each month otherwise I am not earning anything 'free'.

I was supposed to get double rewards as well starting July 1, I still have not received any double just the single. Have you gotten double rewards and when?

There is a waiting period for points and double points to keep people from buying things and returning them. I was told it is two months for the double points.
