Tri-Circle D has 2 locations at opposite ends of FtW:
Trail rides set out from the Outpost, which is the check-in, parking lot, and bus depot.
The draft horse barn and pony rides are at the Settlement, which is where Pioneer Hall with Trail's End & Hoop-de-Doo is located, as well as the boat dock.
If you're going for a trail ride, it's easier to get there by bus. From YC, you could walk or take the boat to DHS, and then catch the bus to FtW. The trail ride check-in is right next to the bus depot.
If you're going to tour the barn, you would take the bus to MK and then the boat to FtW.
If you're going for a trail ride and were to arrive by boat, you would then have to board the internal shuttle bus to the Outpost, which would add 15-25 minutes to your travel time. But IMHO, the boat ride from MK to FtW is much nicer than the one from YC to DHS, so that's an option if you have the extra time and don't mind 2 bus rides.
Thanks for the reply. I guess I should have been more clear initially. We are doing a trail ride at 10:00 and need to get there by 9:30. Will HS be sending the bus to FW at that early hour? The park opens at 9:00.
any chance either EPCOT or HS had EMH that day? as pp said bus to the Fort would have you right near where you want to go. at that time of morning buses will be picking up people at the loops on the route so it will take longer than later in the day. if you would take taxi/UBER those would let you off in the same area as bus depot
Another issue you might run into is the good chance the bus dropping off at the park might not be heading back to the fort, so you might be looking at a bit of a wait. I'd uber it if it's in the budget. MK buses would be running early for people with breakfast adrs and the boat ride is one of the nicest at WDW if you don't mind allowing plenty of time.
