In our never ending quest to determine where to stay this December...started out at GF...changed to WL to "save some money"...and then the other day my wife states, "You know, my favorite trips have been at the YC."

Ok, so we are considering the YC now for our December stay. But we've always stayed there during the late Spring or Summer. So, I really have two questions:

1. How is the water temperature at SAB during December? It's almost too hot to me during the summer, so I'm hoping maybe it just tends to run warmer than some of the other pools.

2. How is the Yacht Club, Christmas-wise with the decor and such? Does it fit in with the Christmas spirit, or is it more of a summer time resort? (as we have always treated it)

Thanks in advance!

I'd always been to the YC in the summer too until this past year. We took our first Christmas trip last Dec. and I really enjoyed it. There's a huge winter train display in the lobby and a big tree in the middle. There are also lighted garlands hanging all around the railings on the second floor. The lamp posts out back are covered in lighted garland too. On several mornings they had either Mickey Mouse or Pluto greeting people coming into the lobby by the tree in the morning. That's how we started this vacation. We walked into the lobby from the Magical Express and there was Mickey Mouse welcoming us to the YC. Walked right up to him and took pictures by the Christmas tree. It was wonderful. I was a little afraid of the theming too as far as the holidays are concerned but each resort kind of has their own feeling and I really enjoyed visiting all the deluxe resorts during that trip to see just how different they all were. I really liked being able to walk into Epcot though as usual with all the holiday happenings going on. I think you'll like it during this time of year.

I also visited this year at Easter and am now going during the Food & Wine and Halloween season. I was always a summer visitor before but the holiday trip has made me want to branch out and see what the other times of the year offer.:goodvibes

I agree with what the last poster just wrote! This past December was our first visit to the YC, and we just fell in love with it! We love the decorations they put up! So cozy!

Every time we've stayed at the Beach Club Villas the water temperatures at SAB have really varied. We've gone in December, January, and February. It's such a big pool I wonder if they have a hard time regulating the temperature. The last trip we took was last December and the water was very warm for a couple of days, then we had a few days where the air temps were high and the heat seemed to be off in the pool. Brrrrrr! The pools are supposed to be heated to 82 deg. F.

We did Christmas at YC this last year and it was wonderful -- beautiful and elegant decorations, lots of Christmas spirit. Cookies and hot cider in the lobby, the staff was just wonderful. The whole family loved it (ages 4-65).

We went in the pool a couple of times but the weather was in the 70's most days. The water was definitely cooler than other days we have been there, but not painfully so. Bring coverups or robes for when you get out and you should be fine. Just realize that every so often Florida does get cold snaps in the winter -- I recall one Norway Princess breakfast when we were standing waiting for the restaurant to open and the temerature was 31 degrees! And that was in February.

You'll have a great time.
