Day 5

Me - 46
DH - 42
DS - 16 Evan
DSGF - 18 Kate
DS - 3 Andrew

Evan and Kate didn't come in until 2 in the morning and I couldn't really sleep well until they came in. Lecture. At 3:45 am Steve woke me with a kiss goodbye and then leaned over and gave Andrew a kiss. He was off to the airport for Mexico on a business trip. We really didn't have anything planned other than the teens were going parasailing at 11:00 and we have a 4:40 Fantasmic Dinner Package PS at the Hollywood Brown Derby. We slept in for a while and then went down to the lounge for breakfast. Have I told you about the lounge? I hear all these wonderful things about this lounge. Yes, the view is very nice. The cushions on the sofa are worn and dirty. I don't like it at all. Everything's dark. Other than breakfast, (it's continental, what can you do?) and the cookies and one night that they had ribs and chicken I pretty much hated everything else they had. Oh, I did like the German chocolate cake and the Guava-orange juice but they hardly ever had that kind of juice it was usually just regular orange juice. Also, the kitchen is directly behind where they serve the food so you get this cafeteria feeling. Just don't like it.

After coming back from the lounge I was still feeling really bad about this hotel. I picked up the phone and called Amy. Maybe I could go back to the YC. Amy told me she was sorry I didn't care for the Polynesian but the YC was all booked. Wait, she'd check on something. She could get me in to the Beach Club on second floor and she could give me concierge privileges. She'd send a runner over to get our luggage and make the transfer. Service. I love it. I got off of the phone and told the kids what was happening. Even though Evan had been the biggest complainer about the Polynesian, he didn't want to spend another half day checking into another hotel he said. I called her back and told her to forget it and I thanked her for all her help. After breakfast Evan and Kate take off for the Contemporary to do some parasailing. They later told me they loved it and were along with two other couples. One of the couples had the same last name as we do which is a little unusual. Everyone was nice and they'd love to do this again. Andrew and I and his bag, stroller, and my fanny pack took off walking to the TTC to catch the monorail to Epcot.

I digress: We had ridden in the nose of the monorail from Narcoossee's the night before back around to the Polynesian. It was night time and the lights were beautiful and you could see the Electrical Water Pageant going on. It was one of Andrew's favorite moments.

Off to Epcot on the monorail and boy was I glad to get on after pushing that stroller up that ramp.....boy is that a long, steep ramp! With all the terrorist activity now it is mandatory that every bag be checked going into the parks. Now I don't mind this at all but with a 3 year old, a stroller, a fanny pack and a bag for Andrew (pull-ups, we're still having a potty problem if you know what I mean) it gets a little hard by yourself. I was trying to get everything checked and Andrew was pushing the stroller through himself and walking off. I'm trying to grab him and not drop everything and the lady beside me said "don't worry, it doesn't get any easier." I'm still trying to figure out exactly what she meant by that. I thinking to myself that this is going to be a long day and almost like pixie dust Andrew decides that he's going to sit in the stroller and wait for Mommy. From that point on he was an angel. Andrew can be difficult at the drop of a hat unlike his brother who as a small child was a perfect angel. I'm hoping that this means Andrew's going to be a perfect teenager. LOL! Tinkerbell must have seen what was going on and sprinkled a little dust our way. We went to see Nemo at the Living Seas and Andrew honestly thought it was Nemo swimming around in the tank. He kept looking and yelling "where's Dorey?" Of course he saw her too. After much money was spent on Nemo toys we left and walked around Future World a little and took Andrew's picture in front of the fountain. World Showcase - here we come. We started with Mexico and took the boat ride. I told Andrew he could tell his father that he went to Mexico today too. We spent some time in China, Italy, Japan and France but Andrew didn't let me do much shopping. No toys. By this time he had collected quite an assortment of light up night time toys, plushies, and swords. If it didn't look like he could play with it, he wasn't interested. It was getting late and it really looked like rain so we went to the International Gateway and caught the boat to the Disney Studios. We stopped at the Boardwalk (very nice, I've stayed here before) and the YC on the way. Oh now I'm really homesick for the YC. I'm telling myself I shouldn't have listened to Evan and I should have just moved over to the BC. Just as we're entering the Studios the sky opens up and everyone starts running. It was doing more than raining. The heavens were sobbing and lightening was everywhere. It was about 3-3:30 by now and so I do some shopping for the girls in my office. I have these gifts sent back to the room so I don't have to lug them around. I love staying on property if not for this one reason alone. The rain would intermittenly stop, drizzle, rain again for the rest of the day. Andrew spied the candy store and we went in and bought some lollipops. He gets back in the stroller and is content with his Mickey suckers. I decide it's a good time to go and grab my PB&J shake at the Tune-In lounge. This was a good idea. I love this thing for some reason. You can get them at the 50's Prime Time Cafe too but I knew I hadn't made a PS for there this trip and I had to have that shake! We stood around and watched the rain and had our snacks. Then we took a stroll around pin central. Andrew loves the pins and he picked out two for himself. Last trip we had bought all the Playhouse Disney characters except for Stanley. We couldn't find that one then. After we got home we couldn't find his Bear in the Big Blue House Pin. Now he was two during this trip. Guess which two pins he picked out by himself? Bear in the Big Blue House and Stanley. I bought the pins and he was happy. We went over to meet Evan and Kate at HBD for our Fantasmic Dinner. Dinner was good as usual. The Grouper was very good. We were too full for dessert even though it came with the package. Our server told us if we changed our minds later to come back and he'd box something up for us to take back to the room. We didn't take him up on his offer but I thought that was really going above and beyond. There was a steady rain so after dinner we went on the Great Movie Ride again. The kids had fastpasses for TOT and had got back in line for RRC when I called them on the cell phone and told them it was time to meet me for Fantasmic. Evan was mad because he had to get out of line. Everyone was wet, you see teenagers won't wear ponchos because they think they look dorkey. Well after it starts rain harder they finally break down and NOW they want ponchos. Evan goes and buys ponchos and almost as soon as they get them on it stops raining. Fantasmic starts and Kate loves it!! She thinks it's the best show yet. We catch the bus back to the hotel (can you believe this was the first bus we had to ride all week?). We see Wishes start as we approach the hotel on the bus. We walk back to the room watching Wishes the whole way. Spider's still there. Kate changes to go swimming and comes out of the bathroom and tells me she just found the other spider's brother in the bathroom. We go to the lounge and pick up some cookies (very good oatmeal cookies, the same ones at YC, must be a Disney specialty) and call it a night.

that after reading your reports, I think I'll stay away from the Poly. I *might* be able to understand a few issues in a regular room, but you are paying for concierge level and it sounds like you're staying somewhere below the standard of a simple motel. Missing ceiling tiles, bugs, rain soaked floors, dirty lounge, and staff that doesn't seem to know when the monorail runs. I think I would have been complaining long before this. I'd complain for $69/night if that was the case.

So sorry it doesn't seem to have gotten any better the longer you are there.

Andrew sounds like a pip. We are hoping to travel to the World with our boys (will be almost 7 and 2.5) in early December. DS1 has been there 3 times, ds2 never. In fact, ds2 has never slept anywhere but his own crib. Wonder what it will be like?

:hyper:

Just enjoy every minute of it no matter what it brings you. That's what I've learned. Andrew is so different from Evan, like night and day, but that doesn't mean he's any less special. I've learned to take it at their pace and enjoy seeing what they want to see through their eyes. Of course I've been many times and I have that luxury. My husband reminded me of that on this trip. I realize some people may only go on one trip to Disney but if they enjoy what's going on with the people they're with it would make the trip so much better. No, I didn't care for the Poly. There will be another trip eventually and next time we won't stay there. Maybe next time we'll let Andrew pick.

I hear ya about the Poly. I just did't care for it much either. We only stayed there for 2 nights before 5 nights at BWV. It rained quite a bit while we were there so we had to walk to our room/longhouse in the rain, plus we only got to use the pool once so that may have had something to do with it. But over all, I found it kinda dark. The windows, even the 2 times we went to Ohana's (Dinner & breakfast) were all steamed up all the time to where we couldn't see out. I'm willing to give it another try some day, but I've got others I want to try first. We love the YC/BC area and are so glad that BCV is my home resort.

Oh, I think I would've made Evan & Kate hang with me to help after your DH left. But I'm evil like that.:teeth:
