YC or POR

Hi! Okay, I'm feeling guilty about spending the $3000 for YC rather than $1500 for POR. We will be on a family trip Me, DH, DD9 and DS15. We would get the trundle bed for her, and DS could have his own bed at POR. We will be on our 10th anniversary trip and POR (Dixie Landings)is where we spent our honeymoon:lovestruc

But, my DH has come to love the YC and it will also be his birthday the day we arrive. He loves to walk to EPCOT (our favorite park) and eat at Cape May and Beaches and Cream. I have most of our ADR's set up at EPCOT and it will be 4th of July week and we could just walk back to YC after the EPCOT fireworks. Of course we all want the YC, but we could also use the $1500 to pay for the rest of the trip- food, souveniers, etc. What would you do?

since its his birthday, I'd let your dh decide, personally. assuming the money isn't a hardship, of course.

Split stay?
I'm not crazy about POR so I'd say YC, but that is a LOT of money you could save.

We love staying at the EPCOT resorts for the same reason, however, this year we just can't come up with the extra $$$$ to do it so we're going to POFQ. I'd let him decide since it's his birthday.:goodvibes

I would stay at the Yacht Club but that is really up to you in the end. It is a special day for DH & if he likes the Yacht Club stay there. The pool is great !

While I do love POR, don't let the trundle bed issue sway you as you've still got the day beds at the Yacht Club which would work just as well (well ours at the Beach Club did). And Stormalong Bay and the quick walk to Epcot are great pluses too......

..... but on the other hand, I'll bet you could do quite a lot with $1,500, and POR is still a gorgeous resort which certainly won't disappoint just as long as time hasn't made you forget that the rooms (like the price) are a good bit smaller than those at the Yacht Club.

Have a great anniversary whatever you decide. What about a split stay?

Andre

He really doesn't want to do a split stay or I'd be all for that. I priced 3 nights at POR and 5 at YC and it would save about $600. I'll try to talk him into that I think. The room size has me worried. One of the main reasons we stay deluxe is that our two kids drive us crazy. I've already scaled back from a one bedroom at BCV to a standard YC room. I'm just really cheap and we've been going 2 or 3 times a year. If I could get them to scale back to a mod we'd save a bundle over a couple of years! On the other hand- I don't want to ruin our family vacation with the fighting over territory in a small room.

Well, I would always say YC because we love it there! :yay:

4th of July week = hot, humid and really crowded  More reasons to stay at the YC.
IMHO the location and convenience of the YC wins!

That's very true - on one of the busiest days of the year, being able to gently stroll back to your hotel room from Epcot rather than fighting your way onto a bus would be a major plus. The POR buses cope with the demand OK most of the time, but when the parks hit peak capacity then even the very best systems start to crack under the strain.

you know, if you go that often, I wouldn't try to cut back on this trip. I wouldn't do the split stay, even. its your dh's birthday after all, and you said you guys are going to feel slightly cramped in a regular deluxe room, so POR will be even tougher I would think.

I would try out the mod on the next trip. that way your DH will be happy and you'll still get that opportunity to see how it works for your family.

For the 4th of July if you can swing it financially I would definitely go with YC. It's so nice not to have to face the bus lines after Illuminations on the 4th and just walk back to YC.

We've been at YC over the 4th of July and it just makes it so much easier.
