We will be heading to the World the day after school is out next year. We will have 10 nights and we want to spend half at the Contemp. and half at YC. My first idea was to stay at CR first and then stay at YC, when we're ready to take more time to enjoy the pool.

However, we'll arrive the Thursday evening before Memorial Day weekend. We might go to MK on that Friday, but otherwise I think we'll avoid MK on the Sat., Sun and Mon. of Mem. Day weekend. Should we switch it and stay at YC 1st, or stick with the CR and not get a lot of use out of the convenience to MK?

When I think about it, it might be kind of nice to hit the parks only in the morning of Memorial Day weekend and then enjoy SAB in the heat of the day...or will SAB be crazy crowded that weekend and not enjoyable?

Any advice or recommendations?

I would do the CR first -- I think you will be disappointed leaving the YC. Not that the CR isn't nice -- it is that they do not have a pool like SAB.

While at the CR head to MK early each day and leave when crowds start. Use the CR's pool and relax. Head back to MK at night, you are so close you can leave if it's too crowded.

You can also do the AK while at the CR.

SAB can get crowded.

Normally, I would say do CR first, but since you're going over the holiday weekend I think it would be better to do YC first. YC is much nicer, but the advantage CR is its proximity to MK. And YC is so close to Epcot and MGM. Stay at CR on the days you will go to MK, and stay at YC on the days you will go to Epcot and MGM.

I think it is smart to avoid MK during the holiday weekend. That might be a nice time to enjoy SAB at YC, and you can hop over to Epcot if the pool is too crowded. Epcot seems to absorb crowds better than the other parks. FYI: we didn't have to wait at all to go on Spaceship Earth in the afternoon a week ago.

You also can use EE at MGM on Saturday to ride RnR and ToT, or get fast passes.

I think YC/CR would be a perfect split stay. I may consider it for our next trip. I know people talk about being disappointed about leaving the nicer resort, but if you're going to be hitting the parks hot and heavy on the last few days I don't think it will be a big letdown.

We did the same during our last visit (CR then YC). We were so impressed with the YC (after 2 stays at CR), that it would have been a let-down if we went from YC to CR. Not that we didn't enjoy the CR, it's just that the YC seems much more elegant and fresher. Just our 2 cents...

Try to plan the parks around each resort on those days. Don't forget about the sharing of buses that the resorts do. You do share the YC with BC and BW (am I wrong to say Swan and Dolphin too?, not sure). And CR shares also, but it's the first pick-up and drop-off.

I would go to MK and Epcot while at CR and do the other parks while closer at the YC.

We once did a GF/CR split. And while we left the GF for CR (and my family was mad at first when we got to CR, but they ended up loving it). We've been going back to CR ever since. My kids love the playground and the arcade at the CR.

Good luck,

My family actually likes the decor we see in the pictures of the rooms at CR (we have a chartreuse 50s sectional with bright red pillows in our den!), so maybe CR wouldn't be a let down for us. Plus, I think the rooms at CR are a bit bigger.

Since it's a holiday weekend do the YC first, spend your days at the pool and then go out at night. Then go over to the CR when it won't be as hectic.

We did the CR and YC as a combo last August and loved both of them!

I think you should do YC last! It is so relaxing there and a bit more hectic at CBR- nice way to end your vacation at a deluxe resort - IMHO!

Have fun either way- they are both great resorts- I have stayed at both!

Soory-
Just saw you meant Contemporary Resort- also a deluxe! I would still do YC last because it is a much more relaxing atmosphere than CR- Do CR first, spend alot of time at Magic Kingdom, then do YC and relax more and have leisurely walks to epcot and boardwalk at night! Also the pool is outstanding at YC!
