We have 2 trips planned for September & October 2022. I had everything planned out but my DD's threw a wrench in them, lol. Initially, we had a split stay AKL & YC for September. DD 25 & her fiance chose AKL 9/3-9/8.

October 14-18 we had a deluxe studio @ Poly. DD21 & DD26 have asked to stay at AoA instead of Poly. I have already changed this.

So now my problem, is that I'm going to have to rethink the tail end of our split stay in September. 9/8-9/11 will just be DH & I. I have always wanted to stay at Poly but we fell in love with BWI & the Epcot resort area. I didn't add BWI since we've already stayed here. Which resort would you choose for 2 adults & why?

Polynesian is on my bucket list. If all goes to plan, we’ll be there in less than 2 weeks. We are doing a Polynesian/beach club split though so I’ll better be able to tell you at the end of April lol

That's a tough one, we love both Poly and the Epcot area. I think as adults the Epcot area would be more advantageous. I've always liked BC more than YC though...

My favorite is YC, but if you have already stayed in the EP area, I would choose Poly since you've always wanted to stay there. There are a ton of "adult" things to do in the MK area. My DH and I stayed at VGF in October and rented a pontoon boat, went to Trader Sam's, Citricos and Cali Grill. We also enjoy spending a day at Ft. W kayaking, visiting the stables, renting bikes, etc.

I would love to hear your thoughts when you get back!

I’ll for sure give it. My daughter is so excited about the new moana rooms. I’m worried the beach club will be disappointing when we leave the Poly lol

I don’t think you can go wrong with either! If it makes you feel any better. We did a split stay in January BWI & GF. We preferred BWI over GF.

I cannot believe that I log in to DIS for the first time in years to find you here! Hey girl Hey!! So happy to see a post from you old friend. While I voted for YC, I say do the Poly. It's been a long time coming! Still can't make up our minds, can we??

Poly hands down. THE quintessential Disney resort! And you’ve always wanted to stay there but never have. Honestly I’m shocked your DD would pick AoA instead of Poly. I can’t imagine willingly choosing any value resort over a deluxe but ESP not over the Poly.

Hey girl! So good to hear from you! All these years later & still so indecisive. LOL

So you can imagine my disappointment! She told me that her & her sister have both been talking about our stay at POP many years ago and how being submerged in the Disney experience means more to them than staying deluxe. They have to get that from their dad! LOL! So reluctantly, I went ahead and changed it. We are actually surprising my other DD.

Where did I go wrong? 🤣🤣

I voted for YC because the Epcot resort area is a great place to stay, especially during Food and Wine. The YC rooms are nicer than the BC rooms but either resort is fine.

I like the new Moana theme at the Poly but I hate having to take the monorail to Epcot.

YC was a dark horse for me, but it has turned into an absolute favorite because every time I stay there I have a great trip. Nothing is better than to be able to just walk back to your hotel at the end of the day. Even though the rooms aren‘t as boldly themed as other resorts, they are relaxing, pretty and polished, and they simply work. Plenty of drawers, well-designed closets with lots of shelf storage, room in the bathroom for all your stuff, good lighting, and a virtually guaranteed balcony. So nice to return to after a busy day.

If you choose YC, definitely splurge for the water view. While there may be a few great garden views, but most are disappointing. FWIW, I’ve stayed GV a few times and always requested gazebo or pool view, and have never gotten it. Never been disappointed in a water view, though. Gorgeous and relaxing!

All that said, Poly is still my sentimental favorite resort 😍. Tons of great memories there. Garden view, water view, it’s all great! Haven’t experienced the new rooms yet to compare them to YC, but they look amazing. Be sure to request a balcony or patio, because 1/3 of the rooms do not have one. I do think think Disney cost cutting over recent years has affected the Poly more than YC. It seems like there are many small touches that they don’t do anymore, like meeting you out front with leis, hula lessons, etc. Maybe it’s because the Poly had more of those kinds of things to take away that they are more noticeable to me.

For dining/drinking, the two areas are a toss-up and both can be lots of fun. No wrong choice there.

Overall, for adults I give the slight edge to YC water view. For families, the Poly. Bot both are great for all ages so you can‘t go wrong. Have fun!

I know I already interjected for the Epcot area, but there is something to be said to seeing Poly before they put up that new DVC property that's going to affect everything. You should experience Poly before they potentially mess it up.

For an adult only stay , I would chose Yacht Club because I'd spend most of my time at Epcot and nothing is better than that easy walk back. I also love the colors & theme of YC, but that is completely personal preference. I love Beach Club too, but I like the rooms (decor, feels more sophisticated + storage design is really good - lots of shelves/drawers) better at Yacht Club.
I also can't believe anyone would choose AOA over the Poly but I guess I don't think like an early 20's !!

I would say BC or BW (even though it's not on our list :) )

We stayed in BW studios, and Poly studios last summer, and while both were incredible I would prefer BWI. The Poly had better pools and nicer rooms, but the location of the BW is just amazing.

The Beach Club is awesome, but the pool gets crowded from what I hear. Having said that, the main pool at the BWI is pretty low in our rankings as far as pools go. We just didn't like the aesthetics that much. We should have tried one of the quiet pools instead.

We are at the Poly 8 nights this summer, and if I had my way I would have done another split stay but the BW was all booked up (I looked too late)

Another vote for Yacht for an adult only stay, especially at Food & Wine Festival time. We loved Poly as well, but I just don't love the "motel" style feel of having external buildings & having to walk outside to get to the lobby. We had several rainy days and it was annoying to have to get all wet to go get food/drinks/etc. Sounds a little nit-picky, but it's always something I think about when I'm booking.

We absolutely love the Yacht Club . Our best trip ever was there last summer in a room overlooking the quiet pool . So quiet and convenient. Going back this summer !
I do love the Poly though . Just checked out on Friday . The rooms are gorgeous! The deal breaker for us is that in a regular non DVC room you get a bathroom that can only be used by one person. So when my 16 year old daughter takes 30 mins to shower and get dressed , nobody can go to the bathroom or use the sink. Ugh !

I have been leaning closer to the YC based on our last trip in January of this year. We did a split between BWI & GF. I was not as blown away as I had wanted to be being that close to MK made it further away from everything else. I'm afraid I'll feel the same way at Poly especially due to Food & Wine.
