Thinking of asking for YAZ. I have hormonal acne and I get so irritable lately. I've never taken birth control and it probably would be nice seeing I'm done having kids and we are just "careful". Any bad news about Yaz? Im always hesitant to take meds. I just weaned off of Celexa after taking it for a year. I do notice Im much more impatient and crabby without it. The acne is really killing me too though!!!! ugh!

Isn't there a class action lawsuit over something related to Yaz?

And about a 100+ other drugs out there ;) Supposedly it is over things that they do warn on the label and have been warning at least since I've taken it.

I have been on it for about 2 years now and have zero issues. My BP is normal and all my blood tests have stayed the same since I've been on it.

I personally think it is better than any other BCP I have been on.

I took Yaz for several months to see if it would help control my cycles, but it did not help with acne......it didn't do anything for me it was supposed to! I had bad mood swings with it and I bled most of the time I took it.. But, I have never found a BCP that works for me the way they are supposed to.

I've been taking it for about 3 years. No strange side effects here. It did take about a year before I noticed the mood swings were gone. I still have a few break outs, but no where near what they were. I do notice that if you even a few minutes late taking it the second week. there will be break through bleeding. Not a lot, just a bit annoying.

My potassium levels have been fine. I still have low blood pressure so nothing has changed with that.

I also don't drink nor have I smoked. Either of those two things is a no-no no matter what your age with BCP, but worse when you get older.

I took it for a year after I had my 2nd child. We didn't know if we were done having children. I had taken several different BC pills over the years and never had a problem.

Eight months after taking YAZ I had terrible issues that resulted in an emergency hysterectomy. My Dr. still can't be sure why it happened, other than it was very strange and he had never seen anything like it. No real explanation of why I was having so much trouble.

Fast forward 3 years and I am now wondering if my issue wasn't related to YAZ. I haven't pursued anything and probably won't, but I would not recommend taking this to anyone for the the simple reason there has been many side effects / serious complications reported while taking this BC.

JMHO

I took it for over a year and started to have problems almost at the year mark. Original Dr that prescribed it blamed it on my not taking it at the same time everyday.

Changed Dr's and the new Dr took me off of it immediately. Had some tests run and sure enough liver problem showed up in addition to the massive bleeding. Dr wanted to schedule surgery but I ended up taking care of some issues with my daughter away from home and by the time I could have scheduled it things started to get better.

Looking back on it I don't even think it helped my moods much.

Be very careful if you decide to go with it, I too thought it wouldn't happen to me and all meds have side effects.
