So excited, we booked our flights for June to Disneyland! We charged our $2000 on Jan. 26th to 28th and just got our points today. It covered 4 roundtrip tickets for free! Woo Hoo!!! Just thought I'd let people know it didn't take long to get the points. :thumbsup2

I just hit my $2000 mark today when I paid my first of 4 installments on my dvc rental. But I'm not going until dec so the flights arn't even open yet. Now back to using Disney visa for points.

Good to know it was quick. I hit the $2000 mark this week and am patiently waiting to book our June flights.

Sounds like your points posted pretty quickly after statement closing, huh? I quickly rousted up $516 in bills (made some double and early payments too.) and paid $1450 of my mom's new roof bill to reach my $2000 just this week. My statement closing date is Feb 9th and originally I was discouraged by the "it can take up to 6-8weeks for promo points to appear" But based on what you and others are saying it seems like most often the points post with in a few days of the closing of the statement where the $2000 is reached.

Yes, my closing date was the 3rd and I got my points 2 days later. I just kept checking on the Southwest Airline site and the points showed up when you log in the rewards in the upper right hand corner. Also it ended up being 52,000 points! Or however much more than the $2000 you charged. ( 1 point per dollar ) Good luck, I hope it works out just as fast for you! :goodvibes

Glad to know it happened so quickly. We just hit our $2000 mark a few days ago. We haven't gotten the points or the statement yet.

Thanks. I hope so too. I have a little leaway. My statement closing is the 9th of Feb and SW flight schedule for Sept isn't released until March 3rd. So that allows almost 4 weeks for the points to be awarded. I want to book asap after the flights are released bc it is my understanding (from a thread on the Transportation Board) that booking earliest gives you the better boarding position.

We got ours 2 days after the statement closed :cool1: and booked two R/T to wdw for $20. What a huge savings.

I don't think your booking time affects your boarding position. I believe it is the time you check in for the flight. That has been my experience anyway. The earlier you check in the morning they open that up...the better boarding position you get.

You should book as early as you can and keep checking back often for a price reduction so you can get the best price (in points) but it has no impact on your boarding position. I have never paid the extra cost for early boarding, so don't know if there is an impact to that.

It only gives you better boarding position if you also buy the "Early Bird" boarding for $12.50. The early bird negates the need to check in 24 hrs before boarding to get your "corral" number.

I am a complete novice to air travel so I can only reference what I read posted by others on the "Southwest EBCI" currently on the Transportation Board. :confused3 I will have to look into it further I suppose, to confirm what is posted.

We absolutely plan on buying the Early Bird! :)

I watched and got 3.5 r/t tix for those 50000 points. I bought some points to buy the other .5 then the price changed and I got my points back! I was hoping we would get early boarding with the card but you need to be a certain level. We did get family boarding which worked great!

I hope you don't mind OP me jumping in your thread but since you all just went through this, I figured you'd be the best to ask :)

I decided to go for it (been on the fence) and apply for my DH and the Business card. We both already have the Premier card and have had them for at least two years and love the cards and were lucky back then to also get the 50,000 points bonus. Once I saw our "tax preparation bill" from our accountant for doing DH's business "stuff", I said, heck, we're already at nearly $1000 right there and it would be nice for him to use the business for only business expenses and personal for personal stuff and keep them better organized. No issues and he was automatically approved -

When does the three months "start" for the spending? Is it technically today, the day we applied or when we get the card, the closing date, etc.? I will be throwing everything on the card that I can in the next three months and it shouldn't be a problem but just wanting to make sure. I haven't seen how the three months is calculated but I easily might have overlooked it.

Thanks!! :flower:
Heather

Hi Heather! Per Chase, "The clock on the 3 months starts at account open date (approval date).”

So basically the date that your account was approved and opened the clock started on the spending.
