Since it looks like an Obama victory, I would like to say that I am very happy that: :goodvibes :goodvibes

1) More people will have better access to health care

2) The war in Iraq will end sooner rather than later

3) Roe v. Wade will not be overturned

4) An energy plan that focuses on alternatives rather than drill, drill, drill will be implemented

5) There will be an amazing, honourable man in the White House!!

What are you happy about? :cheer2: :cheer2:

:sad2: :sad2: Not happy at all for a variety of reasons.

Hold on there cowboy, we'll have to wait and see if he keeps all these promises. I have my doubts.

1 Patients will be dying because of the long waits and small businesses will be going bankrupt

2 and the war in Afghanistan will be going full force

3 it wasn't gong to be anyway, although it is unconstitutional. IT addresses a matter that should be up to each state

4 the coal industry will be bankrupt and electricity prices will be unfordable
5 there will be a man with no honor who is in the back pocket of Acorn and the Chicago mob in the white house.

I'm happy about the fact that my DH loves me and works hard for our family, that our kids love us and are doing well, and that we have a great faith, friends, and fun times. Oh, and that we live 40 minutes away from Disney! :)

Basically, I'm happy about all the things I was happy about before the election.

Thank you! You summed it up well:thumbsup2

I started this thread to celebrate, not to debate...but oh, well...

1 Patients will be dying because of the long waits and small businesses will be going bankrupt. People in countries with universal health care do not have long line-ups of dying patients. If you have private insurance & like it, then keep it! But for those who don't, then be happy for them that they will get health care like you do. Small businesses already pay a lot of money for premiums. Obama's plan will provide a tax credit & catastrophic relief to help businesses.

2 and the war in Afghanistan will be going full force Iraq first, then divert some of the resources in Iraq to Afghanistan where the real issues are. What good could have been done in the US with the almost 3 TRILLION dollars this war will have cost??? I can't even think of all the lives lost over there..

3 it wasn't gong to be anyway, although it is unconstitutional. IT addresses a matter that should be up to each state Did you read McCain's platform? It was one of his priorities.

4 the coal industry will be bankrupt and electricity prices will be unfordable The coal industry will be bankrupt within a 100 years because reserves will barely last that long. In the meantime, it's time to focus on developing more efficient, more environmentally sound sources of energy. Once renewable resources are used for energy, costs will come down. Producing green energy will also provide jobs.

5 there will be a man with no honor who is in the back pocket of Acorn and the Chicago mob in the white house. What is the Chicago mob? It can't be any worse than the Washington mob (Cheney, Rove & their fellow hawks & deregulators), who wrongly led the US into a false war & set the economy on it's ear. As for honourable, I see a man who has a strong character who found his way on his own, and not on his family name & connections.

Congratulation to Obama... The first black president! Hope you fulfill all your promises! :cool1:

While it is not clear whether Obama can fulfill all his promises, it is clear that the end-result of this election will be better access to medical care for those most in need of it, and that is a very very good thing. With regard to the rest, the OP does list the things that an Obama Presidency offers us and great reasons for us to celebrate the results of this election: A stronger preference of diplomatic solutions over military solutions; a stronger respect for personal liberties and civil rights; a focus on the future; and most importantly, the restoration of the United States as a respected member of the international community, instead of just a feared member of the international community. These are the reasons to celebrate the results of this election.

:cheer2:

Yes, let's just see if he keeps all his "promises".
And let's see if he salutes the flag and how he takes his oath of office.

God bless America if you can.

Rest easy: Obama salutes the flag just like the rest of us, and will take the oath of office just like his predecessors.

If I could give you the world
On a silver platter
Would it even matter?
You'd still be mad at me

If I could find in all this
A dozen roses
Which I would give to you
You'd still be miserable

In reality, I'm gon' be who I be
And I don't feel no faults
For all the lies that you bought
You can try as you may
Break me down but I say
That it ain't up to you
Gone and do what you do

(Chorus)
Hate on me, hater
Now or later
'Cuz I'm gonna do me
You'll be mad, baby
(Go 'head and hate)
Go 'head and hate on me, hater
'Cuz I'm not afraid of it
What I got I paid for
You can hate on me

Ooh, if I gave you peaches
Out of my own garden
And I made you a peach pie
Would you slap me high?

What if I gave you diamonds
Out of my own womb
Would you feel the love in that,
Or ask "why not the moon"?

If I gave you sanity
For the whole of humanity,
Had all the solutions
For the pain and pollution

No matter where I live,
Despite the things I give,
You'll always be this way
So go 'head and....

(Chorus)

You cannot hate on me
'Cuz my mind is free
Feel my destiny
So shall it be

Congratulations USA (and the rest of the world)!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

AND he ticked off half the DIS!!!! :dance3: :yay: What a GUY!!!! :cheer2:

If we don't like it there is only 3 years and 364 days until the next election.
