Yay! Disney Dream Adults Only Trip

Hello everyone and thanks for reading my report. DH and I went on the 3 night Dream cruise for our 10 year anniversary. Here goes…..
Background info:

Me- Mom, Disney Nut and Math Teacher (this explains my obsession with numbers and prices)
DH- Dad, Undercover Disney nut and a Mans Man

We had discussed doing something major for our 10th anniversary but didn’t quite know what. One day, I started researching cruise prices for fun and lo and behold, I found a 3 night Dream Cruise for a little over $900. After 10% OBB and $100 onboard credit, I paid a little over $700 for the cruise. I cemented the deal when I found out that Spirit airlines started direct flights from Houston to MCO starting the week before we were set to go on the cruise and the flights were $28 a person one way. Yes, that is not a typo! It was $28 going and $108 coming back. Needless to say, I booked those immediately. I did all of this in December and waited a long drawn out 2 ½ months.

Day 1- We dropped the kiddos off at school and headed for the airport. Our flight was scheduled for 9:45. The flight was a super quick 1 Hour and 45 minutes. We rented DVC points and booked AKL for the night before the cruise so we were able to use ME.

We made it to AKL about 45 minutes later. We were the last stop. This was my first stay at AKL and I think it's my new favorite.

We put our things away, took a few pics and headed to Downtown Disney. I had been craving Earl of Sandwich so thats what we did. It was pretty good but not the best. I didn't care for the tomatoe soup.

And then we had this.... Ummmmmmm sooooooo gooooood

After we left Downtown Disney, we explored a little more and went to the bar at Jambo House and had a few drinks. We originally wanted these but I just wasn't feeling it.

So I had this. Mmmmmmm.

And one of these...

Our total bill before tip was $36.61. Not bad at all.

Next up- Time to get on the Dream!

We woke up this morning around 7:30, enjoyed coffee on the balcony and we were gone by 8:30. We took the bus to Downtown Disney and caught a cab to the Doubletree Lake Buena Vista to rent a car. The cab fare from Pleasure Island was $6.60 and the total rental was $38 and we were on our way!


We pulled into Budget Rental at 10:40 and we were out by 10:55. It was a mad house but luckily since we were returning a car, we were able to go straight to the front of the line.

We waited for about 2 minutes for the next shuttle and we were on our way to the port. We pulled out of the driveway at 10:40 and were at the port at 10:55. We were in the cruise terminal by 11:02 on the boat by 12.

We headed straight to Cabanas and had this....

I know, I know. There is nothing green on my plate. I didn't care about being healthy at all on this trip and everything was GOOD!

We then headed to the adult area on Deck 11 and waited for our room to be ready. My favorite place to be this week was in the round loungers next to the adult hot tub. This was our spot for the next three days.

DH brought his own beer.

After the room was ready, we went to put our things away and back to our spot.

We were so full after dinner, we called it a night.



We had Palo booked for the first night, so after sail away, we went to get dressed for dinner. Palo was tasty as usual and I tried not to take to many pics but here are a few.

We woke up early this morning excited to visit Nassau for the first time without the kids. We read about Junkanoo beach and how it was close to the port so we left the boat and headed for the beach. I think we were stopped a total of 15 times by different people trying to give us a ride and sell stuff. A few of the ladies would start to ask if they could braid our hair until the actually looked at me and they would stop mid sentence. I thought it was a little funny. My hair is braided and DH is bald so no braids for us.

We finally made it and went straight to the Tiki Bikini hut. We ordered a Pina Colada and I couldn't finish mine. I know that being in the Bahamas meant that the drinks would have a different flare but it just didn't taste very good. The small pina colada was $5.

We sat there for about 10-15 minutes and decided to take a walk on the beach. There was glass and trash on the beach. I had to put my shoes back on to walk around. After a few more minutes we decided to head back to the ship.

It took us about 15 minutes to walk back to the boat where were stopped by another 15 people. We figured we would sign up for Mixology and the Margarita tasting to we headed to guest services to sign up. We were the first people to sign up for the mixology class.

I really thought I would love the mixology class but I didn't. Each person made one drink and then we all got a shot. It's better to go with a group. There was a group at the tasting with us and there were able to try each others drinks. We tasted the two that we made and the shot.

And on to the tequila tasting. They have down sized the drinks since out 2011 cruise but I still loved it.

We then stuck around to play a little football trivia. Since I know nothing about football, I made notes on the trip so far so I wouldn't forget them for this trip report and DH played away. Oh yeah, we ordered one more margarita from the bartender Salame and after that, I think I was officially done.

We headed to the future cruise desk after that and I could barely remember the date that I wanted to book. Note to self, don't go to the mixology and margarita tastings before booking your next cruise. I'm just happy we ended up booking the correct date.

We weren't really up to going to dinner tonight so we ordered room service.

After eating, we put on our swimsuits and headed for the hot tube.

Today was Castaway Cay day! I think I looked forward to this day more than anything else. We didn’t bother with breakfast this morning, we were up early and on the tram by 9:04

We were dropped off at the family beach stop where we had to wait on another tram to Serenity Bay.

We waited about 2 minutes and we were whisked away to Serenity Bay

I grabbed the first hammock I saw.

Ofcourse the next logical step was to grab something tropical to drink.

We rented a tube, swam, relaxed and enjoyed the day.

And then it was lunch time. I loved the mahi mahi.

And then I saw him…

Great report so far, can't wait to hear more. Love the pictures of your various drinks. I can't imagine if I did mixology and tequila tasting on the same day. I don't think I could have made it to the future cruise desk after all of that...LOL
