Yavn Speaks Has Been Updated!!

Nemo & The Case of The Missing Submarine Piece
Sure, the front and back of the Finding Nemo Submarine are pretty cool but what happened to the middle? Well good news, the brand new Finding Nemo Submarine Voyage Quest at Disneyland will be the exclusive way to get it.

Starting late next week Guests in line for the brand new Finding Nemo Submarine Voyage at Disneyland will be given a special Finding VMK Finding Nemo Submarine Voyage Quest!

YavnSpeaks-2007-06-22-NemoQuestfront-sm.jpg

The Finding Nemo Quest - available only at Disneyland's Finding Nemo Submarine Voyage.

Along with the cool activities, there will also be a card with the Submarine middle. Now like all good things the Quest won't be around forever - so hurry up and get to Disneyland and check out the coolest (and newest) attraction and start Finding Nemo!
I'm sorry, but does this make sense to ANYONE?

First they pull the plug on ALL the other VMK Quests at Disneyland. Supposedly because there's not enough "guest interest". Then they turn around and ADD a quest for the Middle Sub piece??? :confused3

"...Now like all good things the Quest won't be around forever..."
Well, it better be around until the Annual Pass Blockout dates end at the end of summer -- or somebody's gonna get hurt!

"...so hurry up and get to Disneyland and check out the coolest (and newest) attraction..."
Like they NEED more people to go to Disneyland this summer??? :crowded: And the wait for Nemo has been hours long already!!!

Strange are the ways of Disney and VMK... :dance3:

Oh! Oh! Food carts! That's so awesome. I reeeally hope that they dispense virtual churros/popcorn for us to eat! popcorn::

The Nemo Sub thing makes no sense to me. Is there or is there not a "lack of guest interest" for VMK at Disneyland? It also seems like kind of a cheap trick, making just ONE piece of the sub impossible to get unless you visit DL. BUT, what can ya do...promotion is promotion.

Yavn went.........to Ireland???
why wasnt I informed, I could have been teh welcoming comittee

I cant breathe :\

I want.....everything..

And double credit pirates?

Thats gonna get me to my mark of 200K!!
Kind of disappointed for the epcot turnstyles, but ah well.

That is the weirdest quest prize....
The middle of a sub?

:\

And none of my friends are going to DLR, they all are going to WDW, so i guess Im not getting that card.:lmao:

6/22 – He's back! And he's got red hot info on cool NEW Snack Cart Furniture, a NEW Pin, a NEW In-Park Quest at Disneyland and the 2nd Annual VMK Slide-A-Thon coming this weekend!
It's Water Parks month! Take the plunge with VMK's Summer Adventure - now live and direct from VMK Central heeeerrree's Yavn!

Yavn is (back) in the house!

Greetings programs! Yes, I know, it's been a while … I know many of you have been wondering if I'm ok (I am) and where I have been the last month (can't a guy take a vacation?). The truth isn't all that exciting – I've been really busy – but I know you still want to know what I've been up to …

YavnSpeaks-2007-06-22-AdventuresByDisney.jpg

Costa Rica, Ireland, Italy, London, Paris, Spain, Tuscany, so many places - I'm pretty sure it's gonna take me more than two weeks to see them all.

Well, for starters I've been doing some traveling (the Churro & Turkey Leg combo was such a hit I had to go back to WDW for more!!) and I took a much needed 2-week vacation (let me just say Adventures by Disney are awesome!!!). But in general I've been super busy, and so has the entire team – we're all just crazy busy. Now that you know what I've been up to, let's talk about the game and get to the good stuff!!!

Principal Yavn

Now, I hate to be the bad guy here but I've got to fill you in on changes to our moderation and game policies. As you read over these points, please remember why we're doing this – our goal for VMK is to create a safe and fun place for everyone.

Game Moderation Revised
I know you will all be interested is how we're reworking the game moderation. We're always reevaluating the process and now we are making some changes from the ground up. Over the next few weeks you'll start to see changes and adjustments to how we moderate the game.
We're doing this to address changes in the game and provide even better service to our every growing community. Remember, as the game and community change, we're always updating the VMK values to address the changes and evolution of the game. So make sure you review the VMK Values from time to time.
While we're on the topic of moderation let me remind you: sharing ANY sort of messaging address or e-mail address will get you banned from VMK.
Inappropriate language, inappropriate behavior, hacking or use of bugs or programs that modify VMK and any player scams will get you banned from VMK.
We're cracking down on these behaviors, they will get you banned from the game - with or without a warning!

Pay to Play, not OK
You spoke and we listened. Based on your feedback VMK will no longer allow players to charge each other to play games, enter rooms or anything else. From now on the moderation team will be issuing bans for any players charging other players to get into a room or play a game.
Just to be clear this is related to player activities, VMK will still be charging game credits to play Pirates and ride the Fantasyland Dark Rides. Additionally, we will not be releasing the Turnstiles that were tested several months ago.

Slide On!

On a lighter side, get ready to dive - uh, I mean "slide" - into summer! Slide on down with our 2nd Annual Slide-A-Thon! The event is running this weekend only Saturday (6/23) and Sunday (6/24). Take a slide and you'll have the chance to win the Blizzard Beach Waterslide Start piece on Saturday and the Typhoon Lagoon Waterslide Start piece on Sunday.

It's called advertising. You want people to do something, so you tell them to do it and add some extra reason for them to do it. Now I doubt anyone is gonna go just for that piece, though.

I found some information online in an article dated 6/12 by the editor of MiceAge regarding the future of Innoventions. Maybe this is old news to you all, I don't know. Bear in mind this info. is NOT from an official Disney Company website, so take it with a grain of salt. I'll cut and paste the applicable part of the article. Here goes:

"Meanwhile, over in Tomorrowland, the lawyers from Burbank and the lawyers from Seattle finally agreed on a contract for the Microsoft takeover of Innoventions (remember we discussed this ages ago?). The software giant will take over the entire lower floor and remake the revolving platform lobbies into a “House of Tomorrow” exhibit, and the word is that this time Innoventions will actually showcase technology not already available at Best Buy or even Big Lots. The upstairs exhibits will all also be tweaked and updated, (Siemens was the first) and the whole thing should be worth at least a look around when it’s done."
So..........could this new sponsorship of Innoventions have something to do with VMK's closure at Disneyland?
I think this was the real reason why VMK central was closed. The "not enough interest" was just an easy excuse to give. Which I think is probably the standard answer given for any questions on why an attraction is closed.
Since MS has their own games, they wouldn't want an online game giving them any competition.
It also sounds as though the quest cards are like the new POTC quests where the codes are already on the cards and you don't need to turn in anything. Thereby eliminating the need for a VMK Central at DLR.

Oh happy day!!! Can you all hear me screaming with excitement? Double credits at HM and Pirates are returning!!! :yay: :yay: :yay:

This certainly made up for my disappointment in the slide-a-thon weekend this morning.

Oh, and I'm up for some new summer clothes! Woot! ;)

Little bit disappointed in the middle sub piece being exclusively DL, but I can live with no middles (I think, lol) - the good news in the update certainly balances out the bad so no complaining here. :thumbsup2

Thank you, Yavn and VMK Team! :thumbsup2

I love the hat, I love the churro stand to death, and I like the colors on the start pieces. But... I'm sure going to Adventures by Disney is not what anyone calls "busy at work?" ;)

last night in despair I posted this:

"My 2 cents is Yavn will not be back. They probably transferred him to another big project and left a skeleton crew behind to run things for the next few months until Summer is over....then"

Knowing that the staff of VMK reads these boards, I was hoping to draw out some kind of response, any kind of response.

Never did I think it would be an update from He Who Went Missing.

Very happy with the update. Looks like I will have to get back to DL and ride the subs some more though.

Note to Disney decision makers: See how that works Disney! I just got back from my 6th trip in the past 2 months and had no plans to go again until after summer but VMK draws me back so I can spend more of my money with you! Keep VMK in Disneyland!

I think the hat looks more like a safari hat, which to me means that we might be getting those lovely jungle accessories sometime soon? Hmm...?

OK, so let me understand this...they took away VMK central at Disneyland and ended the quests, but now they are giving out a new quest? So where can they be redeemed? I picture a VMK staffer standing next to a new "churro" cart in Disneyland approving the Nemo Quests....:lmao:

(I'm guessing that the code is on the quest card and you really don't need to do anything but see the show/ride the ride/whatever the Nemo thing is)

I was wondering this as well. I have no desire to stand in that line at this point even. I am a passholder for DL but its not worth it to wait in a line that is many hours long for this sub piece that we have no clue how to get. I wonder if we just go up to a CM if they will give us the quest. I do think this was wrong to give it this way. As well as just wrong to tell us the bull about quests at DL ending and then pull this one out and have it be given out in that horrible long line. It says in the udpate the quests given already were just a preview and the ones coming out next week are suppose to have a card. Wanna bet they run out of them at times? And that most in the line won't care about it? *sigh*
And way to go on the advertising in that update. Let's see Nemo was pushed (not like it needs it either cause DL is soooooo not hurting for people to go to the parks or the ride). Then there was the Adventures by Disney. Which now that is hurting for people to sign up and pay for them from what I have read. :sad2:
I'm sorry but really I don't see a need for anyone to apologize. Every online game I play has whoever there to update things and there are more then one person. If the many person that gives updates is going on vacation they have always told us and someone else steps up and gives an update on things. I have to agree with what cat.herder said about him and company flip flopping on things. It happens alot and then just is something else to annoy players. I don't see anything to show that he will "blow us away." At the rate the game is going if things do NOT change with how matters get handled in the game the game will not last to much longer at all. JMO which I don't expect others to agree with here.
And on another note, I do like the snack cart and pin.

I don't know about you, but I'm really excited for the new game! I wonder what it could be...

Rose Painting in the Fantasyland Courtyard?
Serving food at the Blue Bayou at a timed pace?
Or maybe it'll be horse racing in Frontierland. Who knows?

Those all sound like fun games to play!

Ok I like all the idea but extremely disappointed that the only way to get the middle part of the sub is to go to Disneyland. I think this is really stupid why make a on line game for everyone and make the best piece a rare item. Whot thought this through. I am disgusted. first because I found the game hard and play it in hopes of getting a middle piece. Second why make a key piece so rare that is so stupid and I am going to write and tell them so.

I am so disgusted >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
