Although yavn, has been a GREAT Person to many people including CL_SlinkyMan,

I dont have anything negative to say about him..

Although i wish i could ask him,

if Flying Carpet Magic Will EVER come out.:goodvibes

I thought they closed Yavn down at DLR to make way for Nemo ride? If they took away his kiosk, how do you expect the man to have internet access? Just Joking around oh great white mickey glove.

Seriously after all the new dark rides and furnishings, treehouses, games and the upcoming events, I think the whole team deserves some rest and even a few weeks off. I am sure Yavn will will get around to the newsletter and when he does it will be a great one

I believe the new VMK HQ is in Florida now.

Sorry for having a negative impact on this matter, and really i didn't really mean to. I know there hasn't always been a newsletter or even a news column in that matter. I've been playing VMK since July of 2005 (when it opened) and i have watched this community grow. Sorry off topic lol. Anyways, the first time he delayed with the newsletter was in april i think.. and it was only about a two week miss, but soon the delay gaps were getting bigger and bigger. So far this next newsletter has been off for about four to three weeks, aand it sometimes gets annoying not knowing what's happening. I guess i have adapted a lot to a newsletter every week, and i guess the reason why is because i get ecite wondering what's the latest and greatest in vmk. Sorry Guys!!

I agree that it is fun to read about the new happenings in VMK via the newsletter, and I have missed it. It is by no means ruining the time I spend on VMK. I just like the newsletter.

I really don't mind what Yavn has been up to. I hope he is doing well and having fun with whatever is keeping him occupied. But if he is not going to be able to keep up the newsletter on at least a bi-weekly basis, I think it would be nice if someone else on the VMK staff could do this.

Just my 2cents on this...I do enjoy the newsletters but after that last one being that it basically was news that VMK Central at DL was going away it would be nice to see something else. I don't care if they were to update us every week, every other week, once a month or what but just something after that whole thing right now would be nice.

The BIG problem I have is Hosts and VMK_folk that just give the "watch for a new newsletter" statement to get out of giving us information.

Such with the Middle Submarine Pieces, we were told to watch the Newsletter. WHAT newsletter?

It really ain't that hard to write a little post telling the community what's going on in VMK. Just a simple: new theme is Waterparks again, and we have a new game, here's the link, go about your ways, look out for the Slide-a-thon at the end of the month, you never know what's up around the corner.

The ONLY excuse would be that there is something BIG coming up. Along the lines of new Land or new Mini-game.

Yavn and co' got us conditioned to expect the newsletter on Mondays. They know we expect the newsletter on Mondays. That's the part that gets me: it's not that they're oblivious to it, they know we are pulling our hair out waiting for a new newsletter.

So, how about we WAIT for Monday and see what happens then? If there is no newsletter on Monday, I will join you folk with the torches and pitchforks.

Putting aside the fact that this was a clever thread title, I have had an epiphany on the matter.

Two words, VMK-ers:

Behavioral Learning

So begins my Psychology lesson.

Pavlov and Skinner. Two names that will play a heavy role in this lesson (ok, so I lied. I will end up talking about Classical Conditioning as well).

Pavlov is one of the big dogs (hehe) of Classical Conditioning. His experiments involved the salivation of dogs when food was near. He theorized that if he is able to pair that stimulus (the food) with another, neutral stimulus, then theoretically the dog will react with the same response (salivating) to the new stimulus. He tested this out by setting out the dog's food and ringing a bell at the same time. Over the course of several weeks, Pavlov only needed to ring the bell to get the dogs to salivate.

Though Monday was a neutral stimulus, with several months of conditioning, we have been trained to believe that Yavn will post on Mondays, though he never said he would.

Skinner believed in more of a treat/punishment aspect of Learning, otherwise known as Operant Conditioning. For those of you that watch ABC's LOST, you will recognize the Skinner Box. The Skinner Box was a cage where rats would press a lever and be rewarded with a treat. There are varying techniques on when a reinforcement is given. What Yavn did was to change up the reinforcement schedule, thus we have absolutely no idea when we will get our treat. We used to be on a Fixed-Interval Schedule (a schedule of reinforcement that reinforces a response only after a specified time has elapsed) but now it appears that we are on a Variable-Interval Schedule (schedule of reinforcement that reinforces a response at unpredictable time intervals).

Thus, I can conclude that several of us are not in fact, impatient, but merely going through the throes of learned helplessness. What we believed to be true (Yavn Mondays) is shown to be an illusion, thus we cannot effectively rely on getting weekly Yavn posts. And with all the new stuff coming out, folks are addictively awaiting Yavn posts.

Combine that need to have Yavn posts with a Variable-Interval Schedule...

Is someone taking Psy 1 this semester?

Not to sound like a Kiss-Up, but I usually enjoy your posts, P-E ;)!!
Wondering though what you meant by the Skinner Box connection in Lost--am I being dense? Do you mean Ben's "Magic Box" that he told Locke about? Please feel free to PM me if this is considered :offtopic: ... just thought that there might be other Losties who are DISers who are wondering what you meant exactly. (Or yeah, maybe it IS just me!:upsidedow )
And now to get back On Topic:
Was curious, so checked Yavn's personal blog, and he's not done anything there since February 19. So I hope that means that his personal life is busy and full as well! Full of Fun Stuff I mean!
TikiKrissy

EDITED TO ADD:
Arg, I just got it, you meant the Food Button thing in Sawyer's cage. Whoops!

Yavn is a busy man outside of VMK. Obviously though, VMK is by far not his number one concern. After the closing of VMK Central at DLR aka "The beginning of the end," I think we will only continue to see less of yavn's newsletters.

Really. That's a really confident post, I suppose you're Yavn? ;)
