Hi everyone

I dont get it! What is the difference between the Yatch and Beach club at WDW. I am fairly sure they are the same price, and they have the exact same location.

I am booked in for the Yatch Club from 19th December till 26th December this year

Pease help me

Tim

The Yacht and Beach Club are sister resorts. They share the pool as well as all their other amenites (marina, dining, etc.). They have 2 different check in areas and different concierge services, but otherwise they are interconnected. The room hallways do not actually connect to one another, but from out side, in the pool area, they look like one resort. The difference as far as the rooms are concerned is mearly decor. The Yacht Club is more nautical, hardwood floors in the lobby, blues and white, where the Beach Club is more New England flair with pastels and a beach theme. Have a great time, they are both great resorts :)

Also, at the YC, most rooms have full balconies, while the BC has many rooms with small standing room only balconies.

You can't make a mistake - both resorts are VERY nice! I prefer the decor of the Yacht Club, but it's just a matter of taste. I believe the rooms at the YC have queen beds, where the Beach Club has some rooms with double beds. Also, as mentioned earlier, all of the YC rooms have full sized balconies. I think you made a good decision.

Have fun!

Hi,

The main difference is the themeing. The YC is hardwood and brass and gives you a sense of walking into a New England Yatch Club. The BC is more pastel with softer colors and wickers furniture. It gives you the feeling of being in a New England Family Beach Front type of resort.

The other difference is that most of the rooms at the YC have full balconies. There are more single/stand up type balconies on the BC side.

Other then that they share the pool area which is the big draw for these resorts. Storm-A-Long Bay. It is a great location. We prefer the YC over the BC as it just has a more adult feel to it. We perfer the hardwood and brass to the pastel.

That is what is great with Disney. Something for everyone.

Hi

Thanks for all your help, i think i will like the YC

By the way, how do you get that countdown in your signature under your post???? I want one

The BIGGEST differnce in the yc /bc we find is not the color of the wood, or the natical theme vs. the beach theme. It's the attitude and feel of the 2 resorts. They are extremely different. The YC is more adult, quiet, reserved, elegant, and I'll probably get flammed but sometimes tries to be (or seems to be) more "upscale" than the GF! The BC is fun, noisy, kids running around, lots of families, people in swim cover gear walking around, very casual, "homey" like your at your aunts beach house. Its a good time.

Now we are adults with no kids, and I won't even stay at the YC anymore. We will risk the "dreaded balcony situation". We used to only stay YC until they were sold out and had to stay BC once. That was all it took, we are now sold only on the beach club. :yo-yo:

As mentioned above they share many things, and its hard to believe just how different these 2 are when it comes to this. Maybe it because the yc has the convention center? Or BC is closer to epcot? Not sure why or how this attitude thing occurs but its from the cm's to the guest. You notice it from the minute your in the lobby. Or you call the desk on the phone, or use the valet guys.

Whatever you choose, they are in a great location, are beauitful, and will be a wonderful choice no matter which one you choose.

I won't flame you because I agree... BUT I will explain why this is... (I worked at the Beach Club for 3 years ;) I am biased)...

The Yacht Club is the "Convention Resort" when there are conventions in house they stay on the Yacht Side because it is closer to the convention center, they use the Beach Club for "overflow" convention rooms. So the Yacht Club carries that more adult upscale feel because it is catering to that type of client while the Beach side is the "Family" oriented here to have a good time and forget about work, vacation side.

For Tim-Downunder, you will love the resort (Either Side) they are beautiful and honestly my favorites on property (made my in-laws by DVC at the Beach Club)...

Both the YC and BC are wonderful resorts, and I'm sure you would enjoy a stay at either one. That being said, I agree with some of the other posters that the themes/ambiance are very different even though the resorts are sister resorts. The YC feels more upscale, more formal, and more adult-oriented (don't worry, kids are perfectly at home here--it is Disney after all!) and the BC feels more relaxed, casual, and family-oriented. It's just a matter of personal taste, but I prefer the YC. I found the cast members to be wonderfully friendly and helpful, and I liked the room decor better. Of course, there are many people who prefer the BC, so it's just a matter of person taste/opinion. Have a great stay!

One very small difference that I noticed for the first time during my Beach Club stay last month - the entrance to the boat dock for heading to MGM is right in front of the Yacht Club, and a bit farther from the Beach Club.

For many guests, this might make no difference at all. But it may make the YC just a wee bit more convenient for some guests, and might occasionally mean the difference between making and missing a boat.

I have stayed at both resorts (once each), and have visited both many times. I think I more enjoy the decor of the YC by a tiny margin, but I really enjoy visitng with Admiral Art at the BC. A genuinely nice man, and a real institution in the lobby. I know the YC has Commodore Bob, but I've only met him once and don't know him nearly as well.

All in all, it's genuinely a tossup for me - I'd be pleased to stay at either one, and prefer them to the Boardwalk just across the lake.
