Yankee Candle opening put off until Nov. 20

WILLIAMSBURG -- The Yankee Candle Company has delayed the opening of its new flagship store on Richmond Road until Nov. 20.
A company spokesman blamed the delay on wet weather that has prevented workers from paving the store's parking lot, as well as on logistical issues with getting shelves and other fixtures for the cavernous store. The store had been slated to open in early November.
Yankee Candle, which is based in South Deerfield, Mass., has invested between $12 million and $14 million in its new Williamsburg store. The store will have more than 25 times the retail space of the company's typical mall stores.
