any comments on Yankee Candle?

would you bring your preteen boy who doesnt usually like shopping? is there more to it?

It's a great place - there's a lot to see. A lot of people bring kids of all ages there. The closer you go to Christmas, the harder it is to get in. Sometimes there's a wait for the parking lot. My suggestion is if you are going close to Thanksgiving or Christmas, go early in the morning.

It may make it easier to decide.

We love the place and haven't been in a number of years and are planning on going this year (although we don't have kids to bring).

I think it's a fun place to go and usually take the 1.5 hour drive about once a year and spend a ridiculous amount of money. My daughter enjoys the center of the complex with the singing animatronic-like people. There is a cool holiday room and we usually stop and say thank you to Santa if we visit during their sale at the end of December.

After spending the day shopping and 'candle sniffing' (my daughter thinks this is a hobby all its own since we do it so often) we go over to the restaurant on the outside of the building for an early dinner. It's a colonial style menu.

Perhaps he would enjoy candle making? I am not sure if a pre-teen boy would enjoy this if he does not enjoy shopping. I have never been, but have heard others who enjoy going to the butterfly house just down the road to make it a full day activity.

I don't know if it's still there, but there was a car museum in a separate building the times that we visited. We never went, but he might enjoy it.

I'm not sure if he'd like the main shop itself though. They do have an amazing year round Christmas section with model trains running.

We did take our DS and his sisters when they were younger, but we also visited the Basketball Hall of Fame and made a weekend of it.

Each time we go, we have our 7 year old son and 5 year old daughter with us! They love to go and help me pick out scents. They love to smell all the tarts! :)

I agree about the candle dipping, that is something I think he would like! It is very interesting to watch and listen to them! :)

Have a great time! I love the Flagship store!!
