We were thinking about eating at the japanese restaurant at Paradise Pier; anyone ever been there? Is it any good?

A friend of mine took me to Yamabuki when they first opened. I remember the food was reallyyy good and I loved it! I should really go back one of these days, but I always end up eating at Blue Bayou or Ariel's Grotto. :)

I think Yamabuki is very nice if you like Japanese food. I've been a couple of times and tend to get the standard combination - teryaki, california rolls, tempura, musu soup, salad. Throw in a little sushi. I've thought everything was quite good. I took my teenage DS and his BF and they liked it quite a bit also even though the BF was a bit timid with the sushi.

Thank you, sounds great we're going to try it.

You don't say when you are planning on going.
Yamabuki will be closed for refurbishment from July 31 to September 1
They are planning on making it a fine dining restuarant like Napa Rose, The Vineyard Room, and Granville's Steak House.
While it is closed they will be offering some of Yamabuki's menu items at PCH Grill

Do you happen to know whether PPH guests can order Yamabuki room service or get take out? :)

Oh darn it! We'll be there after the renovations. We're not exactly the fine dining type of family, and I assume you mean prices will be much higher too. I was so looking forward to this too...
maybe they will have a good take out menu that we could try.
